Mkay, I'll buy that. But it is split in the United States. Plus, I think most all Christians have that "Catholic Guilt".

EDIT: Mkay I'll buy that too, shadowplay. The majority do not.

I'd actually like to, if you want to adjourn to WH; if nothing else, it would boost my postcount. :p

Yes, I know. This is especially true in North America where Catholics tend to be more liberal and Protestants more conservative. This dynamic is generally reversed in Europe where Catholics tend to form a more conservative element of society.

Here's a Catholic website that advocates a literalist view, not only of creation but they actually argue that the Earth is the centre of the universe:

http://www.scripturecatholic.com/geocentrism.html

1) What would you expect from us "progressive Americans". :p

2) Well that's kinda embarrassing.

While it is permissible for Christians to hold the heliocentric view, heliocentrism can only be advanced as a theory, not a certainty (because neither heliocentrism nor geocentrism can be scientifically proven definitively)

Heh heh, yeah it can.

I'm calling BS on this one, most likely based upon the high number of cultural Catholics. Other church groups do not have as many people identifying with them for tradition's sake.

The study itself would seem to suggest so, by stating that the results are taken from 'among those who declare a religious affiliation'. I dare say the apparently low Anglican percentage is also due to this.

So what? Why wouldn't Australian Catholics be relatively progressive? Lay Catholics are not their high-ranking clergy.

Sure, that's true. I'm just attempting to dispel any misconception that it is the Australian Catholic Church itself that has the most progressive views out of religious groups here. I think it's important to mention that when you say 'Australian Catholics', you are talking about the lay members, and not the institution.

Actually it can't. The sun is not proven to be the center of the universe.

No, not the center of the universe. I thought we were talking about the solor system.

Oh, and I've waited for this forever:

Heliocentrism is the theory that the Sun is the center of the universe.

Also, technically madviking is correct; the earth does not orbit the sun. Rather both object orbit around a point that happens to be within the sun.

If it helps, it would not be any earlier than September based on the content of the rest of the image.
