Why do bouncy balls always bounce forward on every second bounce?

Due to slight rotation, will cause it to bounce in reverse of that spin, sending it off forewards or backwards

Write-in's do win minor positions, like judges or mayors, but mostly it's a protest. Some people say they are running as a write-in, just to make a statement or draw awareness to elections too. I hear Mickey Mouse does quite well every election (seriously, it's the #1 write-in).

I think it was on Staten Island, during a primary for a state assembly seat, where (and I may have mixed up the two) one person was named Tobacco and was on the ballot and a person named Tabacco was campaigning hard for the write-in vote. Even had campaign posters highlighting the letter to make sure people got it write.

Yeah, the write-in guy lost. I bet a bunch of people wrote in Tobacco.

Can i find a list of write in results, to peruse for funny results?

But then something was said about how candidates could have minor positions or something, and that's what threw me off.

Writing in candidates is much more popular in smaller elections, where you haven't got as many people to convince to write the candidate in. They're just saying you're more likely to see a mayor win by write-in than a president.

Does my avatar and signature make me look illogical and incapable of debate, or is it just awesome like I think.
Haha, this has got to be the CFC OT equivelent of "does this dress make me look fat?"

It would certainly put you off to a bad start, but people will read what you say. Consider it a -15% sanity modifier ;)

does anyone have some examples of presidents winning the popular vote but losing the presidency to the electoral college? i believe there were at least two but i cant seem to find the info on em.

right, i think there was another instance of this though i could be wrong.
In 1824, no one won a majority of the electoral college, which threw the election into the House of Representatives. No one won the popular vote, either. In the end, John Quincy Adams won and became president, despite the fact that he didn't win even a plurality of either the popular vote, or the electoral college. Andrew Jackson had the last laugh, though. ;)

There are plenty of other cases where a president won only a plurality, and not a majority of the popular vote, but won the election anyway. (Such as Bill Clinton) I'm not aware of any cases at all where one man won an outright majority but lost the election - even Al Gore in 2000 got only 48%.

Just going through the Citywide Governor's Race Results (PDF), I can see all sorts of write-ins. Highlights include:

Charles Barron
Patrick Buchanan
Bill O'Reilly
Al Sharpton
Bill Clinton
Noam Chomsky
"Pataki"
"Sean Hanniky"
Shaka Zulu
Donald Duck
Me
"Micky Mouse/Minny Mouse"
Lou Dobbs
Mother Teresa
Bud Abbot & Lou Costello
