Question for college students: Is it required to have your books by the first day of class?
You'll survive if you don't, but it's a good idea to have 'em.
Question for a girl: How exactly do you put mascara on? I'm afraid if I ask any of my female friends in real life, they'll shun me for being eighteen and not knowing how to put it on.
Counter-question: what the hell do you need mascara for
now? If you've gone eighteen years without, surely you realize how unnecessary it is.
It's pretty self-explanatory, really. Buy some. Find a mirror. Open mascara. You see that little brush? First, wipe the chunks off it by pulling the wand out at an angle, so the brush rubs against the inside rim of the tube. Chunks are bad. Once you've got the chunks off, just comb the brush through your eyelashes. Close the eye you're working on, keep the other eye open to see what you're doing. When I do it, I start with the top of the top eyelash (it might take two gos for any of these), then the bottom of the top eyelash, then re-dip, re-clean, top of the other top eyelash, bottom of the other top eyelash, re-dip, re-clean, then the top of each bottom eyelash. Chunks are bad. Don't use any other makeup until the mascara is dry, and if you haven't done it before, do your mascara before any other makeup so when you screw up, you don't have to redo the eyeshadow you've wiped off with the oops mascara.
Chunks are bad. Also bad is when you have too much goop on the brush and you end up with your eyelashes clumping together. There's really no way to fix that other than taking it all off and starting over. If you're going to do more than one coat, wait for the first one to dry. You really don't need more than one coat. Hell, you don't even need one coat. You're not a Dapper Dan Doll.
If you want to practice, get some regular makeup remover and practice before you shower for a couple of days, and just take it off in the shower.
Take all of this with whatever salt comes with the fact that I wear mascara maybe every few months, tops.
