Reallly? I guess it varies from province to province, because Quebec doesn't cover dental or optometry services unless the person is a minor.

I'm talking about the coastline in the circle.
I'm traveling to North Carolina to visit my best friend for Xmas, the first time ever I'll be entering the South. The furthest south I've gone is D.C.
How much racism is to be expected? How fundamentalist are they down there, will people ask me my religion and if they do should tell them I'm an atheist or will I be killed? Does it ever snow? Is the KKK active in North Carolina? I know the state went blue but its usually a red state, should I not tell people I'm from the North? How hard is it to understand the Southern accent? Is only moonshine alcohol avaliable? I know Southern food is unhealthy what should I do?

You'll probably some country folk badmouthing black people, but most of it is in jest. Racism, is however in the eyes of the beholder. Blacks and whites tend to keep apart in rural areas, but often work/go to school together. They're not at war.
Everyone in the country will probably be a fundamentalist. Don't start fights and you'll be fine.

Depending on where you go not everyone will have a "southern" accent. It's not to different than what you've heard in the media.

Don't eat as much as they do. Actually this question isn't well-headed, they probably won't eat anything too different than you, expect for a manly breakfast with grits.
The south isn't a foreign country for Christ's sake. The country areas of the south are little different than those of the north and the urban areas are going to be little versions of northern urban areas. I think they should be the ones worrying about transcending your biases.

DO NOT tell anyone your an athiest, and for added safety put a bumper stick on your car that shows how much you love jesus, or that you're a birther or that you voted for McCain. only moonshine is available so take whatever alcohol you like to drink in the back of your car. while southern food is unhealthy, you'll only be their for a short while so you should be fine.
You're going to have to give far more information concerning what you think is odd there. Because at that level of detail in the picture, nothing is. And when I got a better map of the area, still nothing was obviously out of the ordinary. It is a somewhat straight line. But the closer you look the less straight it appears. And there's nothing particularly unique about it.
