The RoundTable!

Glad you liked it :)
I agree, "Guns, Germs, & Steel" is a totally fascinating book. I actually tend to hold to a more socio-political first-cause view - rather than an environmental one – but still, a totally worthwhile read. You'll notice that I (sorta) credit the author, Jared Diamond, as the researcher.

You probably knew this A.T., but for those who don't - Admiral Whan's quote is actually a semi-famous Genghis Kahn quote. :D Khan had Bosoms?!?

EDIT: And make sure you all catch the committee abbreviation in this edition's story! :mischief:

And, of course, it was paraphrased into a (perhaps more) famous quote by Arnold in Conan:

Mongol General: Conan! What is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women.

Early in his career, with his accent even more pronounced...

Don't miss Diamond's follow-up, where the premise of Guns Germs & Steel is turned on its head: Collapse

In Collapse, he explores the reasons why some societies stand the test of time and others don't. I won't go on, except to say that this guy loves his forests and soils ;)

Great stuff, General! :goodjob:

Thanks Peter. Good teamwork on the cartoon!

This might well be ready in time when Wotan finally sends a save... :mischief:

Is there anything hidden behind SKANK (Subcommittee for Knowledge of Advanced Naval Kinetics) beyond the meaning published in wikipedia? Is there anything beyond wikipedia at all? :dubious:

I always use the urbandictionary.com for more colourful language definitions.

Not that I'm aware of! :)
Don't you know, Wikipedia is the standard repository of all knowledge and wisdom! Where it is inaccurate, it is at least definitively inaccurate. In cases of major discrepancy it is always reality that's got it wrong. :D

Here’s my initial draft.
No text changes – just added all the fancy artwork.

Hope you enjoy!
(But if you don’t, it’s not too late to make changes! ;) )

:wow: Absolutely a masterpiece!!

:worship: :salute:

I do like this so much more than any video one could produce!!

Sorry for the delay on the paper – been crazy busy around here.

Here's my proposal for immediate release.
Any objections?

It's a bit random due to my hurry - Hope you enjoy anyway!

EDIT: Now posted in the UN!

Hahahahaha, that picture was so unexpected I couldn't help laughing out loud!

I really like the texts too. To the presses!!

Thanks Gentlemen! :)
Off to the presses!

There's also a pretty good inside joke in this edition for the first MTDG people. We'll see if anyone catches it.

If not – I'll at least let my fellow councilors in on it (in a few days). :D

I'm not sure if it is the inside joke or not but I get the distinct impression I've read that Newtons University story before ;)

 That's it!

I copied this story nearly word-for-word from my Newton's story for the first MTDG. :D
I gave a little hint to that in the story by placing the build this time in the "Athens district" - refering to the fact that the last story was set in Athens.
Otherwise, it was pretty much just the names that were changed to protect the innocent ;)

I'll see if I can find an old copy of that paper and post it here later today.

Good memory Aigburth! 10 points for you.

EDIT: And yes, Peter. I know I said a "few" days... and then didn't wait the required 3 days ;) - I was just excited that Aigburth got it!

Time for a new edition. :bounce:

Headlines: Bach's and Slavery? Maybe Metropolises / Hospitals?

Peace negotiations with BABE's I'd not announce before it's sealed. :shake:

General, please take over the task! :salute:

Slavery? Can't we put a better spin on that? How about a little something about the new BABE leadership? We should not pass up a chance to poke some fun at our old nemesis Wotan.
