But the first video I felt, is apropos for the intro to Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri II :)
(when EA finally relents and sells the IP back to Sid and 2K)

Coming to Fox in 2013.

Seth McFarlane started working on it after Ted.

Ok cool. I'm not sure about it because I'm not a big McFarlane fan. Then again, he seems to be a big fan of Sagan and I trust he'll be respectful. Is he narrating it, directing, writing or producing?

Too bad McFarlane wasted time on Ted instead of going head-long into Cosmos. There's not a chance anyone will be talking about Ted in 5 years, but if he even does half as good a job as Sagan and crew, his Cosmos redux will inspire a whole generation.

Call me an old fart, but I really don't get McFarlane's appeal. To my mind, he's no different from Ferrell or Sandler.

But I'll certainly give him a chance on Cosmos.

This^. Though I wouldn't put him in the same league with Ferrell or Sandler.

Only Sagan could be as good as Sagan. :scan:

Just out of curiosity's sake, how many of you here saw Cosmos when it was first out? I mean "absolutely brand-new, I can't get that music out of my head, can't wait for next week's episode" kind of new?

I remember feeling kinda floaty and somewhat high... on a TV show!

It was out before I was born Valka, so no dice. But I saw it last summer and loved it. We used a snippet of the them for the 'down the aisle' music at our wedding. ;) Very high indeed.

They need to this with Ad Rock. You know he's got more rhymes than Carl Sagan's got turtlenecks.

So you only saw the updated version? :( Changes in information are fine; there were a lot of new things known. But they also changed some of the music in places, notably the "Carl Sagan slides down a black hole" sequence, and the Galaxy Rise. Those were so much more dynamic.

I assume it's the updated version, it had a few snippets where he came on at the end of a few episodes and updated the audience and he was looking much older.

It's whatever version was/is on Netflix (I think they took it down recently...they've been taking all the good stuff off Netflix). The music was still good though, but if you have links I'd listen to the old stuff.

Yeah, that would have been the updated version. He was probably in the earlier stages of cancer then, which is why he was looking older than just 10 years older, if you see what I mean. :(

Unfortunately, I don't know where you might find the original version online. I've got VHS copies of the first two episodes, that I bought through Columbia House, but was never able to get the whole series.

Have I missed something? Why is it a good thing that McFarlane is doing this of all people?
