The Sims 2 | "Nehru" Legacy Challenge (Reader Participation Welcome)

Okay, guys, big update in store for you -- over 110+ pictures, a record not likely to be matched, let alone bettered.

Nehru Legacy 6.1 -- More Babies!
-----------------------------------------
olegacy1.jpg

You may be Mayor-King and wear tight white pants, but it doesn't free you from my bathroom cleaning/repair details!

Oh, by the way -- impressive detail on the science lab there. The little multicolored diamond is used on industrial equipment of all kinds: there's a number on each color, and the higher the number the more potent the danger. Red is used for flammability, for instance, and another color might be used for toxicity-if-ingested. I'm surprised the art guys at EA have seen that kind of industrial marking.

olegacy2.jpg

What, seriously? You guys have two kids already, two perfectly servicable potential heirs!

...I only told them to Try for Baby to make Napoleon happy. I didn't expect them to get PREGNANT. :-/

olegacy3.jpg

Custom clothing isn't a big deal. Basically you can customize the color of one piece of of clothing that varies by gender and age.

olegacy4.jpg

He wants to be a space pirate.

olegacy5.jpg

Believe it or not, this is the first time either car has been driven.

olegacy6.jpg

Meet Renee, who Wilhelm will woo.

olegach7.jpg

Guess who's back?

...well, that's Edele's back, but Keavy is moving back in!

olegac8.jpg

"New applicant for the SWAT position, boss. Kid fresh out of college. She's gotta be kidding."
"What's her name?"
"Nehru, Keavy Nehr-"
"Sign her up!"

olegacy9.jpg

You can get frostbitten while sitting in a hot spring. Go figure.

olegacy10.jpg

First kiss!

olegacy11.jpg

It was his first time! Cut the poor guy a break.

olegacy12.jpg

...that thing might bite, Leon. A little more care might be in order.

olegacy13.jpg

Control of all the police only a day into the job? Why not?

olegacy14.jpg

She brings home another potential pair of green eyes for Will or Leon to bring into the family. Barbara also has red hair, but I don't quite like her nose.

olegacy15.jpg

Keavy came home with the flu, so Hiero's old laboratory got used for the first time since....Hiero realized it was useless for improving skills.

olegacy16.jpg

...Leon?

olegacy17.jpg

ACK!

olegacy18.jpg

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

...I've been playing this game since 2004, and never have I seen a kid die. I played Sims 1 before that, and I only lost one kid from 2001 to 2005, and that was poor little Austin Socialite, who was trapped behind a wall of fire when the Christmas tree caught on fire, and it caught the rug on fire, and he was backed against the wall during a party... :-/

olegacy19.jpg

You give him back, Grim!

...more to come.

Nehru Legacy 6.1, Continued -- More Babies! ...and death?
--------------------------------------------------
olegacy20.jpg

Leon, come foooooooorth.

olegacy21.jpg

Aw! That's nice.

...wait. Is it a good thing if the Grim Reaper is fond of kids?

olegacy22.jpg

"Well, that was...fun."

olegacy23.jpg

Right back on the horse, buddy!

olegacy24.jpg

And - ooh.

(Note that no one is home. It's just Camryn, screaming to herself in the bathroom... )

olegacy25.jpg

Black hair, green eyes....excellent.

olegacy26.jpg

Ta-dah! François was submitted a page or so back. I thought it would be nice for Napoleon to have a similarly-themed name in the family.

olegacy27.jpg

Wilhelm is very family-oriented, which is nice.

olegacy28.jpg

The Nehrus -- still on top of things.

olegacy29.jpg

Oh. Hi, Augustus. Drop by to see the new baby?

olegacy30.jpg

He WAS spelunking.

olegacy31.jpg

Baby on the floor, bottle on the floor, and pee. I'm going to take a guess and said that Napoleon was feeding François when Augustus scared him, at which point he dropped both the baby and the bottle and then, just for good measure, wet himself and created a puddle which is about to touch the baby's head.

olegacy32.jpg

...and minutes later, the baby is dropped...again. And there's more pee on the floor, this time from Camryn, but she doesn't mind -- ghosts are fun!

olegacy33.jpg

STOP DOING THAT, AUGUSTUS!

olegacy34.jpg

You don't live in Pleasantview, woman! The librarian of Pleasantview is Hari Seldon. And...well, if you put boring work aside you'll keep making excuses and never get around to it, so.. bite the bullet and endure. I once read four lectures on the English-Dutch wool trade circa 1300 on one Saturday afternoon for a paper. You can handle...deeds.

olegacy35.jpg

<shrug>

olegacy36.jpg

...and yet she comes home with a promotion!

olegacy37.jpg

Ooh, look who Keavy's brought home -- Marion! You guys remember Marion, right?

... right? Sister to Julia and...well, she had cornrows for a while.

olegacy38.jpg

....

olegacy39.jpg

Okay, Marion, maybe you should...go home.

olegacy40.jpg

Saturday morning cartoons. :D

Probably doesn't mean as much these days with so many kids' stations and Youtube, but in my day (:old:) if you wanted to watch cartoons, you sat in front of the television on Saturday mornings. I used to set my alarm clock for five am just so I didn't miss the nature programs, and then One Saturday Morning..

More to come!

Nehru Legacy 6.1, Continued: More Babies! ...and death?

olegacy41.jpg

Fraçois is now a-toddlin'...

olegacy42.jpg

Silly penguin. That snowman is a liberal-arts graduate.

olegacy43.jpg

The Mayor, ladies and gentlemen!

olegacy44.jpg

Me? A good parent? You're forgetting I let him DROWN.

olegacy45.jpg

:) Teaching Frank (I'm getting tired of Alt+0231...) a nursery rhyme.

olegacy46.jpg

Let the wall street businessmen sweat.

olegacy47.jpg

...but the Nehrus have 1.3 million simoleons, so I don't even notice it.

olegay48.jpg

:) I rarely see kids play with toddlers autonomously.

olegacy49.jpg

....yes?

olegacy50.jpg

..oh. You seem to be putting on weight, Keavy. There's an exercise bike downstairs, though, so...no worries. :)

olegacy51.jpg

You are just full of fail, kid.

olegacy52.jpg

Good thing aunt Keavy's around.

olegacy53.jpg

Like Edele before her, she does a lot of the parenting.

olegacy54.jpg

Apparently, I haven't taught him to study yet...

olegacy55.jpg

The fear has finally set in.

olegacy56.jpg

François is unusual in that he learns ALL of his skills.

olegacy57.jpg

Good grief! Maybe you should start eating salads.

olegacy60.jpg

A little LATE there, Napoleon. (Oh, and...François grew up. :P)

More to come!

Nehru Legacy 6.1, Continued: More Babies! ...and death?

olegacy61.jpg

I think Keavy has a stomachache..

olegacy62.jpg

..oh. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

That explains a lot.

olegacy63.jpg

Sinéad would be the third member of B*Witched.

olegacy64.jpg

:)

olegacy65.jpg

See, Napoleon and Camryn don't do stuff like this. Keavy and Edele work just as much, but they also do things with the kids. It's the reason I'm ignoring the rules completely and keeping Edie's line going.

olegacy66.jpg

No real point in tagging the "not athletic kid", now is there?

olegacy67.jpg

<shrug>

olegacy68.jpg

Bwah hah! Leon survived childhood! I was beginning to have my doubts.

olegacy69.jpg

Same coat he grew up in: I only changed the pants.

olegacy70.jpg

Grim: Time for you to go.
Edele: ... that's why I'm here...

legacy71.jpg

Oh, he meant go to the Vault of Honor.

Farewell, Edie, O Ye of the Lustrous Red Mane. You've been my favorite so far.

legacy72.jpg

Sims should NEVER scream at me because they're bored when there's plants to be weeded. :D

(Also, notice his stats? Picture the fun bottomed out, and you'll have Leon's stats when I told him to dive into the pool. I wanted to bring his fun up before he went to bed, but I didn't realize energy takes a sharp hit at the same time that fun spikes....)

legacy73.jpg

They had 20+ friends before Keavy died. That's how much she was carrying the family.

legacy74.jpg

...must...accomplish...upset! Must...prove self worthy of heirdom!

olegacy75.jpg

Keavy did a self-portrait, and...here's Remus. Remus thinks Keavy is QUITE attractive. Who cares if she's a distant relative of his big brother Kaiser?

olegacy76.jpg

The family connection doesn't last long: Keavy is Napoleon's niece, but he doesn't think Sinéad is related to him. Romulus and Remus (and Tiberius, and Alexandros...) have been date-eligible for generations now. R&R don't recognize Alexandros and Tiberus as relatives, nor do Alexandros and Tiberius see each other as kin. Napoleon's boys probably won't recognize Vaermina.

olegacy77.jpg

Hey, Leon -- remember failing school?
...that's what you'll be doing AGAIN if you don't stop monkeying around on the internet and get to school!

olegacyh78.jpg

Sinead grows up!

olegacy79.jpg

:) Note the time. She could have grown up at any time starting from 6 PM the previous day. The game does this so the player can throw birthday parties, and then have the Sim grow up by blowing out candles on a cake. I like to use it to shorten the toddler days as much as possible: I wait until a few hours before the game MAKES babies grow up into toddlers, then have them blow out candles. They grow into toddlers, and a few seconds later (at 6 pm) they age a day and are already a third of the way into their time.

I always do the "teach to talk" want first, locking the Walk want until the third day, when I feed them the magic milk that makes them learn quickly.

olegacy80.jpg

Climbing the ranks...

More to come!

I have to admit that I was guilty of double-ageing my toddlers in my Apocalypse Legacy. Those whiny, screaming brats who kept filling their nappies and kicking and screaming on their potties were not my idea of fun!

Nehru Legacy, 6.1 --- and Sinéad Makes Four
=============================================
olegacy81.jpg

Leon wants to be Captain Hero, but I'm having him make a job out of his hobby and become a gamer.

olegacy82.jpg

Napoleon teaching Sinéad a nursery rhyme. "Allons enfants de la Patrie, le jour de gloire est arrivé ..."

olegacy83.jpg

Keavy's off to work.

olegacy84.jpg

Wilhelm! Go Use the toilet, then Take a Shower.
"Yes, O Lord..."
And also, tell Clepatra to let your people go. Seriously, she stole a couple of your workers in your last war, and you forgot to get them back before accepting peace in exchange for her tundra cities..

olegacy85.jpg

Old age is MEANINGLESS to Nehrus.

olegacy86.jpg

A sweatsuit?

olegacy90.jpg
olegacy88.jpg

Much better!

olegacy87.jpg

Wilhelm, or Leon, wanted this statue for some reason.

olegacy89.jpg

Heir battle...one, two, three!

The animation was too quick for me to follow, alas.

olegacy91.jpg

The Red-Headed Line now has its own line of portraits in the master bedroom, where Edele and Keavy slept.

olegacy92.jpg

Sinead grows up in no time..

olegacy93.jpg

Isn't a trash talker one of those nine year old kids who starts screaming "HACKER! HACKER!" any time someone snipes him on Xbox live?

olgeacy94.jpg

Leon's about to grow up. According to legacy rules, I'm supposed to roll a die to see what his aspiration will be. I don't. Instead, I follow the same method I do for my non-challenge Sims. I look at the sim's personality and interests.

A high Outgoing skill makes me think the kid would be interested in Popularity, especially if his Playful and Nice skills are similarly high.

Active makes me think Fortune, since fortune is tied to the Sports career. Outgoing and Active together both signal for fortune.

If a sim isn't very playful (and is Serious instead), I think of using Knowledge -- especially if his Neat is also high. Sims who are very Playful but not Active are Pleasure sims.

Nice is a marker for Family sims, but "mean" also compliments Fortune and Romance sims nicely.

By my logic, Leon could be Popularity, Fortune, Family, or Knowledge. Let's look at his interests to narrow it down...

olegacy94.jpg

Politics and Money are the two markers I use most: Sims who are very interested (8+) in either will get Popularity or Fortune, respectively. I also use sci-fi to gauge interest in Knowledge.

olegacy95.jpg

Leon is more interested in money than politics, but it's been a while since I had a knowledge Sim -- so he's Fortune and Knowledge. They both have good benefits (the brain with a ! means Sims will randomly be awarded free skill points while studying, and the highest Fortune benefit lets Sims earn money from the stock market.). If a Sim is either Fortune or Popularity and I have another trait in mind, Popularity of Fortune get chosen as the primary. This is because the secondary trait only gets 3 of the 4 boosts, and Pop/Fortune/s fourth boosts are really good. The others don't matter, because their best boosts come early. If I relegated Pop and Fortune to the secondary position, I would lose the best part of them.

olegacy96.jpg

Golly, wonder what the next job is. :P

More to come!

Nehru Legacy 6.1 -- A Diversion
------------------------------------------
legacy87.jpg

Willhelm's off at college, along with a potential mate.

olegacy98.jpg

There's another Sim I want him to groom, though, and while he's at it I'll thrown in a visit to the Downtown area.

olegacy99.jpg

Barbara, with green eyes, red hair, and a skin tone that will give this family some variety.

...and yeah, they just did it in the photo booth.

olegacy101.jpg

"How dare you take advantage of this young lady!" (*beat*)
"Yeah! How dare you? :p " (*punch*)

She was the one who led HIM in there...

olegacy102.jpg

Miss Crumplebottom is a charming return character. In Sims1's "Hot Date", she would start flailing with her purse at Sims who engaged in kissing or other romantic actions. In the original game, she was a prudish widow whose husband had been a captain of industry. One of the downtown areas, the large park, was named after him.

olegacy103.jpg

Wilhelm returns...wearing a head rag?

olegacy104.jpg

...and he graduates.

olegacy105.jpg

Summa cum Laude, sin Hair.

olegacy106.jpg

François, not to be out-done, ALSO has found a future mate -- green hair, black eye, and the dark skin tone.

olegacy107.jpg

First kiss...

olegacy108.jpg

Hmm. What's this? I see Noelle in there...

olegacy109.jpg

And there's Erin's blue shirt and hair...

olegacy110.jpg

And Chris! I see her hair spikes and schoolgirl skirt. It's an ectoplastic threesome!

olegacy111.jpg

Edele and Keavy used to sleep in the same bed: now it's Keavy and Sinead.

--------------------
OK! Will's gone off to college and Leon is getting close to that age. It's time, I think, for the Heir Poll. Who shall it be? Your choices:

olegacy114.jpg

Wilhelm, the oldest?

olegacy112.jpg

Leon, who has drowned, been frostbitten, and nearly flunked out of school -- but keeps coming back for more!

olegacy113.jpg

....or François, the youngest and most determined, who has been working overtime to become a viable contender?

François, of course! :)

Wilhelm. The succession could not be more clear.

Wilhelm! Oldest male is the law of the land!

Leon. Best name of the three, stylin' quiff, and let's face it, he's been through so much, he deserves a crack at heirdom.

(Sinead should become a witch, so she can B*Witch people.)

Nehru Legacy 6.2
-------------------------------------
67leg1.jpg

While the Nehrus follow their usual routines, this morning brings change.

67leg4.jpg

First, witness the return of Wilhelm...

67leg5.jpg

Wilhelm adopts the Nehru jacket that I have decided will be worn by all future heirs-apparent until they assume the throne.

67leg7.jpg

Although Barbara's green eyes, red hair, and darker skin tone were all tempting, Renee HAD been my first choice, and Wilhem rolled wants to Propose to her WHILE DATING Barbara.

67leg8.jpg

Leon and François gamely clap, despite knowing what their brother's return and his marriage mean for their own ambitions.

67leg9.jpg

Renee gets a little makeover..

67leg10.jpg

Renee's skills are a little lacking, but she's obviously quite limber.

67leg2.jpg

Er, go with the Marine?

67leg3.jpg

I don't get how people who are GAME DESIGNERS can depict gaming in text that seems so...forced and artificial. It's like reading books in the 90s that try to depict the internet.

67leg6.jpg

A hostage negotiator? I assume that means he negotiates with the hostage-takers, gets the people back safe, reveals that the money given to the crooks was counterfeit, and then throws them into the sun for good measure.

68leg10.jpg

As far as personality and interests go, Renee is a total wash. If I had looked at Barbara's....she might've gotten the nod regardless of what Wilhelm wants. I decide to let her explore a career I haven't showed here.

67leg11.jpg

You can't see it, but Leon is playing basketball DURING A THUNDERSTORM. It's like he WANTS to die.

68leg12.jpg

For some reason, the bedroom attracts Sims on the lot who want to have woohoo. The old master bedroom (the blue bedroom, with the nursery) is ignored by virtually everyone, and only Edele, Keavy, and Sinead have shown an interest in the new master bedroom. Augustus and Marie started using this bed even thought it was Gustavus', and then Napoleon started using it with Camryn...it's the official Try for Baby bed, I guess.

69leg13.jpg

Wilhelm actually looks like one of those guys on Flashpoint, that Canadian show which migrated to the US about a special team of snipers and hostage negotiators who handled the sticky situations...

67leg14.jpg

Her and Keavy's work seems to have paid off..

67leg15.jpg

67leg16.jpg

The generation 6 couple is proving to be a succesful pair.

67leg17.jpg

This is Renee's career reward...the Cow-Plant! It's one of the more entertaining objects in the game.

67leg18.jpg

If it isn't fed, it will eat passersby who are foolish enough to fall for bait it will offer.

68leg19.jpg

Been there, done that. :P

67leg20.jpg

Time to go into medicine!

More to come.

Nehru Legacy 6.2, Continued: Attack of the Cow Plant!
---------------------------------------------------------------
67leg21.jpg

No sooner did Leon move off to college than did Wilhelm and Renee jump in the sack to try for their first kid. I don't think the Thinking Caps will help, but they're welcome to try..

68leg22.jpg

Excelle- hmm? What's this?

69leg23.jpg

Ye Olde Cow Plante is hungry and has resorted to trying to lure Sims into its mouth with cake. When they come near...CHOMP!

67leg24.jpg

Sinéad grows up.....and that fifties dress is not a good match for her hair.

67leg25.jpg

Much better!

67leg30.jpg

...! Aww. I wish it had been one of the countless losers that follow the Nehrus home on a regular basis, but this was one of the few NPC Sims I actually like. She's one of the teens in Downtown: fair skin, blonde hair cut in a pixie style, green eyes with make-up. I sometimes choose a favorite Sim to marry her. I'd bring her back to life, but restored Sims always appear in the current household...and we have no room.

67leg27.jpg

François and Sinéad don't regard each other as relatives..

67leg28.jpg

It's like Darwin and Aldous Huxley. I say wait: if she publishes too soon, it might ruin her credibility. She's got her entire life to be a success.

67leg29.jpg

:D Predicted the game's thinking, I did.

67leg31.jpg

*BUMP*

Ooh. Looks like the hats did the trick.

67leg32.jpg

Finally.

67leg33.jpg

Note that swollen sack under the cowplant?....that's the kid it ate. Sims can MILK the cowplant and drink...the kid. And it will roll their age back three days.

...some sims will roll a want to "drink" such and such when they really dislike them. This, like their wanting to see ghosts of people they're angry at, hints that if Sims could murder each other, they would.

68leg34.jpg

She wants to be a Media Mogul.

67leg35.jpg

Mm....I don't know of any authority figures with sufficiently-developed senses of humor that they would accept dis-commodus treatment.

68leg36.jpg

Oh, you wacky publishers.

67leg37.jpg

Surgeon, Medical Researcher, Chief of Staff -- if memory serves.

67leg38.jpg

Now, a daunting question -- WordPress or Blogger?

67leg39.jpg

...and here comes Generation Seven! -- Time for some name submissions. Next time I'll probably play them through another pregnancy, so the more names submitted, the better.

We need a Leopold.

Ferdinand or Otto. :)
