Using the prescience granted to advanced adepts of the Dark Side such as myself I summoned Tokugawa's ambassador to the Great Council. Resisting the urge to have him disembowelled and his tripes returned to his supercilious master I agreed 'peace' terms; we would return the city of Hurrian in echange for an immediate cessation of hostilties.
Our troops were sent north ready to face Louis.
In 1466 it came about much as I had envisioned:
He dispatched sundry forces towards Hun, totalling perhaps three batteries of catapults, six companies of sword and two companies of axe. To further complicate matters a band of barbarian longbows came down from the north. Louis demonstrated once again that an excess of inbreeding lets to a deficit of intelligence by wasting time in reducing the defences of Hun, time enough for our army to march north and in a series of skirmishes eradicate the invasion forces threatening Hun albeit with heavy losses.
Louis has sent pillaging crossbows to the outskirts of Teothican which we do not currently have sufficient force to dislodge but these are an irritation rather than a serious threat at this time.
Naboo has completed the Heroic Epic built of marble and the skulls of our fallen warriors, most inspiring. Funds have been diverted to our researchers and their report on the system of Civil Service is almost completed.
Tokugawa has discovered 'liberalism'; such intellectual degeneracy will surely presage his destruction.
Isabella the Harlot briefly got out of bed with Catherine the Libertine; discovered that the world outside was too cold for her liking and has snuggled under Catherine's duvet again.
I'm finding that at the moment most of my civ time is going towards SGOTM, don't know if this applies to other people as well. This game is going to take some work (and a bit of luck) to pull out of the bag so from my viewpoint I'd like to put it on hold until SGOTM is done.
In terms of immediate game we're close to CS so I think the next move once we've got CS is to build up some cash to upgrade our well promoted units to maces then take the war to Louis.
I've got the opposite problem with SGOTM, an absent team .
You're right that this is going to take a hell of an effort to pull out, so am happy to put on hold until all can pay full attention. I'll download the save later and post some thoughts later on.
How long until SGOTM is done? I think putting this one on the shelf is a bad idea. I've put tough games away before and don't think I've ever gone back to finish a single one.

I am in agreement with Pigswill and will barely have time for the SGOTM03 so putting this on hold is ok with me. We lost Robo in our SGOTM and have to say he's missed.
Sorry 1889. You posted that you wanted to try an SG coz you were fed up with people backing out of multi-player games.
As far as I'm concerned this is a game I want to finish off (and win); we've had a few religion based wargame type SGs (as started off by Cosmichail) and I'd like to win at least one.
However not only do we need a full team we also need a team to be focussing on the whole game rather than just turning up, playing their set and then heading off to do something else until they're next UP.
We did win the first SG and the pacificist too which you finished. It was the Jihad that failed as a result of a bad roll by Xtream. Then the next was a totally isolated start and we just completely lost the tech race.
I am not sure about this game but we may have a chance. Part of me thinks we are not teching all that good. I understand 1889's disappointment and I think we should discuss a restart date so that the game doesn't get buried and forgotten. The capture of Madrid was impressive most impressive and again a variant overlook which at the beginning you stated Pigswill that any breaking of the variant ends the game. I too erred by going to Rep but just by instinct as if I have any kind of food rich environment I go for Rep as I imagine most civ players do.
The SGOTM03 is a lot of work and I would prefer to keep my attention there for now. It may be another month before that's finished so maybe restart in Feb sometime.
