I realize that. But what emotion, feeling, or sentiment is he supposed to express? If I put one in my post, am I expressing happiness, amusement, anger, sarcasm, or something else?

These smileys don't really express any sort of emotion, feeling or sentiment.

= Egyptian
= Viking?
= calm, relaxed
= you bump a thread
= energetic, crazy (like a rock band)
= energetic, really weird... misplaced and awkward
= NINJA
= that "I want to hit that guy in the head with a fish" feeling
= means its peanut butter jelly time
= sheep jump roping

Nah see, my point was that a smiley doesn't have to convey a specific emotion, feeling or sentiment in order to be worthy of inclusion.

I think those 5 i have voted for, are all reasonable and addable.

ADD THOSE 5!! They have a use, they express feelings/emotions and will be used often!

Chintap is not both will be used at different times.

Popcorn is for lurkers and to express that you will be lurking this thread. Very usefull for the succesion game forum.

Whew is also very useful, after your done writing a big post or finished something in real life and glad it is over.

"Chintap" is often used on one of my forums to indicate the poster is thinking about the topic seriously, making a suggestion, or trying to reason something out.

also indicates thinking, but it's not the same kind of thinking. The difference is in the nuances -- this smiley sometimes contains an element of sarcasm, depending on the context of the post.

"Popcorn" is often used to indicate the poster is hungry, or finds the thread amusing -- as in sitting down to watch an entertaining movie.

I still throw all my support behind this one.

Take a look at the last thread(that reached a 1000 posts) TF does add many of the ones we suggest.
