The Snake In The Grass

What does the Porcelain Tower do? Otherwise, good update. Can we see a world map?

taken right from Chapter Four

"I learn banking, and its off to learning Chemistry. The main reason i want chemistry is because it allows for the construction of the Porcelain Tower, which has an effect of "One more trade in each trade producing tile" If i build it, i will be economically stable when exiting my golden age and with the crazy production i have in some of my cities, i don't see why i shouldn't build this. I can research chemistry in 4 turns and still net in 347 gold per turn."

Thanks, and yes, i will have a map in the next one, main reason there wasn't one in this is because i don't have navigation yet, which means all you will be able to see is the coasts and capitals of civs, but it should become regular in each chapter once i get navigation which i assume is going to be quite soon.

Chapter Five: Forged from Lightning

530BC- War is declared on the Baltics. Taurage is assaulted, and after a bloody battle in the plains, it becomes ours.

121fb.png

510BC- Copenhagen falls.

122b.png

Helsingor practically rolls over.

123nao.png

Packs of knights close in on Denmark's last two mainland cities.

Sadly, our Age of Greatness ends.

124fe.png

490BC- The golden age may be over, but our wars are not. We march on, capturing Fredericia.

125jy.png

Arhus is taken as well.

126za.png

I decide that enough's enough and i've taken all their core cities, so there isn't much use to go make galleys, load them up and transport my units to capture Abenra and Herning. So i make peace with Denmark, receiving Hanstholm and Vejle.

127e.png

Turns out these two cities are on a small island south of Abyssinia.
Also seeing that Denmark has new technology, i decide to trade. But not with them. I trade with Siam, who is beginning to become a good friend of mine. I give Theory of Gravity for Military Tradition and Navigation.

128ak.png

Then i trade Theory of Gravity to Abyssinia for their World Map and 151 gold.

129n.png

470BC- I enter the Industial times after discovering Magnetism. However i am not alone in the Industial times. Siam, Tibet, Abyssinia, and Arawak are also at this stage.

130d.png

My free technology is Medicine, and i head to trade with the Arawak. They give us Steam Power, Democracy, World Map, 15 gold, and 8 gpt for Medicine. I guess they have some bad diseases or something. Research switched to Electricity.

131u.png

Siam also gives us quite a lot for a tech. We give them Medicine and in return they give us Free Artistry, World Map, 70 gold, and 42 gpt.

132bj.png

I also dish it to Tibet for 1460 gold, slicing their treasury in half.

450BC- Marijamopole is captured.

133v.png

The Baltic capital, Voruta is also taken.

134bd.png

Klaipeda also becomes Cherokee.

135j.png

Utena is capped.

136ih.png

Newton's University is completed in Tugaloo.

137a.png

All is going well until i find out that Odense revolted and rejoined Denmark. I can't exactly do much about it until my peace treaty has reached its time requirement. Unless i want to look like a mean empire.

138e.png

430BC- Vilnius is ours at last and the Baltics have been defeated.

Now that i am not in a single war, i get ready to plan some attacks.

Looking at this map, i see that Ireland and the Songhai have such borders that can be used for blitzkrieg type war. If i can get a right of passage with the Irish and use their borders as shortcuts, i can bolt into many Songhai cities at once and overwhelm them. The only major concern i have about this is i will need to build many railroads and i've barely got that started in my own territory. This strategy might have to wait.

140g.png

But, we've got another target. The Etruscans. They are the weakest civilization by far, with only six cities it should be a piece of cake. They're a whole age behind, have poorly developed land, and my massive pack of knights just happen to be sitting on the border. This one might happen sooner.

390BC- After this short period of peace, i decide that it's time to declare war. I march knights into Etruscan borders.

And shortly after, my realization of how much i underestimated them kicks in.

141l.png

This is embarrassing. I'll get it back next turn, but i learned my lesson here. Even the worst civ can take your cities. The Etruscans capture several of my workers with their Chariots, and now there's no chance of making peace with them. They won't be spared.

On a side note, i learn Electricity. Scientific Method is next.

370BC- I market my tech to Tibet for Nationalism, 90 gold, and their World Map.

142w.png

Abyssinia gives me 50 gold and 33 gpt for Nationalism.
Siam pays 42 gpt for Electricity.
Arawak pay their World Map and 2090 gold for Electricity. Seeing their wealth i take the opportunity to profit. I trade them Iron, Saltpeter, and Silks for 560 gold and 62 gpt. I give Tibet Fur, Coal, Silks, and Gold for 450 gold and 27 gpt. I give Poland saltpeter and Furs for 40 gold and 7 gpt. With resource trading i am now raking in a lot more money, almost as much as i did in my golden age.

The fighting in Etruria continues, with the capture of Fufluna, recapture of Fredericia, and capping of Vetluna.

144n.png

145q.png

After a key defensive stand, one of our Knights triggers a Great Leader to arise. The Knight is renamed to Civarmys1994, the creator of this mod.

350BC- The Etruscan capital, Tarquinii is captured, and so is Cisra and Curtun.

146g.png

I declare war on Ireland. Get ready for a massacre.

Kaunas is captured.

147z.png

Austria sends an offer for a Mutual Protection Pact and a Right of Passage, which i decline. I guess someone thinks I'm powerful.

And then i get another one of these damn rebellions, this time in Alborg. Pretty soon i might have to take care of this because it cut my empire in two.

148l.png

330BC- Gailleamh is now under Cherokee rule.

149iw.png

Things are rapidly industrializing and it is nearing the end of an age. To display the current state of the world, we have a map.

The Danes are revolting!

Good story thus far! I was amused at your nation entering the industrial age at 470 BC.
