The Sumerian Empire

One question: how do you insert the picutres. I tried with my current story but only get a link?
Make sure to put tags around your link, then it should show up.:)

@502nd PIR-only mech infantry available, though I might disconnect a few cities from oil to get them.

wow I read all this today, seeing as it was started in Feb 2006, I figured it was done!

1892 A.D.
Science Advisor- My King, we have initiated work on special program in the mountains above Kisurra. We have codenamed the project- SETI, which is short for the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.
King Gudea- You really think something is out there, huh?
Science Advisor- There have been many reports thru the ages of mysterious sightings, objects in the sky and some people claim to have been abducted. Yes, I believe there is something out there.
King Gudea- What does this program do? How do you go about discovering the existence of others beyond our planet?
Science Advisor- We are employing banks of radio telescopes and powerful detection equipment. The skies are scanned in hopes of finding radio transmissions or some other evidence of alien activity.
King Gudea- Let me know immediately if anything is detected, cause if there are other civilizations out there, they could be a threat to us.
Science Advisor- They could also be peaceful and be able to provide us with advanced technology. You will be informed if anything comes up.

1904 A.D.
Military Advisor- Commander, the 1st Army Group is making good progress against the Byzantines and an area has been cleared out for a temporary airstrip. Using this airfield, the 2nd Airborne has been dropped onto the small Byzantine isle in the eastern ocean. The 2nd Airborne is an overstrength division, at 20 companies strong.
King Gudea- We could use this isle as a base, to build up on for the invasion of the Roman island.
s1080-2nd_airborne_lands.png

Military Advisor- Our main fleet intercepted a Byzantine convoy leaving the isle where we just dropped the 2nd Airborne.
s1088-byz_convoy_att.png

1914 A.D.
Military Advisor- Sir, we have attacked the main Hittite island and lost 11 marine companies, while taking the coastal city of Kahun. The 3rd Army Group then landed in the harbor of Kahun, which is on the western end of the island. The 6th Armored Division, not wanting to be left out, was dropped off on the north side of the island.

1916 A.D.
Military Advisor- My King, our new advanced tank is a success! It is cutting thru the Hittites and Byzantines like a hot knife thru butter.

1918 A.D.
Military Advisor- The 2nd Airborne has met little resistance while razing two cities on the Byzantine isle. It does help that the Byzantines and Romans are fighting each other over this same real estate.
King Gudea- Have any reinforcements been sent in?
Military Advisor- A battalion of tanks, some mech infantry and a settler group have recently landed on the isle. The isle should belong to us in a short while.
King Gudea- We can then station our new stealth airwing there and cause the Romans a lot of problems.

1920 A.D.
Military Advisor- I have great news, my King. A descendant of the great Lugalzaggesi has stepped forward during the battle of Alaca Huyuk. He led the 6th Armored Division to a very sound victory there. Even with severe weather settling in, Lugalzaggesi III is now directing the 6th Armor towards the Hittite capital.

Winter of 1924 A.D.
Military Advisor- The Hittite empire is no more!
s1094-Hittites_destroyed.png

King Gudea- What of Mursilis?
Military Advisor- Towards the end of the battle Mursilis himself was helping man a TOW infantry position and he died with the city garrison.
King Gudea- At least he wasn't hiding in his room.

1928 A.D.
Military Advisor- The Byzantine isle has been cleared, but the Romans continue to land forces there and vye for control.
King Gudea- How many cities does Theodora have left?
Military Advisor- There is Constantinople and two other cities. Our spy has reported that over a division of troops are defending the capital and there are also 10 understrength(1 unit loaded) armies fortified there. The city is on a hill; this could be a very costly battle!
King Gudea- Maybe we should nuke her.
Military Advisor- We have an ICBM ready in Kisurra.
s1103-ICBM_ready.png

1932 A.D.
Military Advisor- Commander, the Byzantine empire has been reduced down to their capital city.
King Gudea- Fire the missile.
s1104-byz_destroyed.png

Military Advisor- The destruction was much worse than at Mecca; there was almost nothing left.
King Gudea- And then there was Caesar.

1934 A.D.
Science Advisor- Supreme One, the SETI installation has picked up a transmission from space. It is obviously of alien origin and is incomprehensible.
King Gudea- Was the message, if it is that, meant for us?
Science Advisor- There is no way to know that. Radio transmissions can travel long distances and we may have run across it by accident. We also have something else to tell you.
King Gudea- What?
Military Advisor- Two of our satellites have suddenly come up missing.
King Gudea- Is the transmission and the satellite disappearance connected?
Military Advisor- Don't know. I would assume the worst and say another species has been keeping tabs on us, discovered our new satellites and destroyed them.

Turning to the science advisor-
King Gudea- We may now have a reason for this spaceship you keep rambling on about. You have permission to start funneling all available resources into its construction.
Military & Science Advisor- Thank you, my King!
King Gudea- I have been wondering what warriors like us would do with our time, once the Romans are gone and there is no longer anyone to fight. I think we may have a new adversary.

1936 A.D.
Military Advisor- We have several fleets approaching the Roman island and the one on the west side ran into a minefield. Two ships were lost and a few others were seriously damaged. The eastern side of the island has not been mined as of yet, so our invasion will have to come thru there.

1946 A.D.

* * * * * *

Military Advisor- Our main fleet has encountered a number of enemy ships.
s1108-main_fleet.png

Military Advisor- The Romans have also sent out several bombing raids, which were knocked out of the sky by our new stealth fighters.
s1109-airwar.png

1951 to 1952 A.D.
Military Advisor- The isle we took from the Byzantines has provided an excellent staging area for the 4th & 5th Airborne Divisions. Both divisions have been paradropped in to capture Nippur & Nineveh.
s1114-4th-5th_airborne.png

Stealth bombers strike at the garrisons of the two cities, to soften them up for assault.
s1127-stealth_att.png

* * * * * * * *

Military Advisor- With both cities in our hands, the 1st Army Group offloads in Nippur and the newly-formed 5th Army Group goes into Nineveh.
s1129-5th_AG_landing.png

King Gudea- Get ready Caesar, cause here we come!

Really can't say whether I will or not, but I do know I'd like to move on to .
No! Bad! *Slap*

What is up with all the snow around New Kadesh?

We have several fleets approaching the Roman island and the one on the west side ran into a minefield
"Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!"

Funny thing is that back when Farragut said that, torpedoes meant mines.

It's winter.

That's a good quote. Land mines were also known as land torpedoes, not used very much but did get use in the American Civil War era.

It's been a long and prosperous story, and I have enjoyed reading it, Takeo. As we approach the final update, i am both happy and sad, for Summer shall rule the world, and yet the story will be over. :trophy: I can't wait to see what role the Aliens will play in the finale. Go for Civ 4, I'll be watching.

As this last update approaches, I, like many others, feel a great amount of saddness. This story has susteined me through many bleak nights. Takeo, I thank you for your story. If you go to Civ 4, than I wish you the greatest of luck. Surely Civ 3 Stories and Tales will be a lesser place without your stories. I cannot thank you enough, my friend. You have enhanced my life with your fine story. I salute you, and thank you one more time. :salute:
