I am humbled by your comments. The Civ3 Stories & Tales forum is not anything cause of this story. This forum is what it is cause of those like Vanadorn, Daftpanzer, MSTK and Symphony D and there are many others that could be listed here who have made outstanding contributions. They all inspired me and I more or less have just followed their lead.
The Sumerian Empire

1952 to 1956 A.D.
The 1st Army Group moves out from Nippur
A-The 11th Armored Division assaults Londinium
Military Advisor- This must have been the Roman TOW infantry base. Besides the typical garrison, there were an additional 6 TOW infantry companies defending there.
B-The 14th Armored Division assaults Arretium
Military Advisor- Fighting in and around the mountains of Arretium was fierce and our side was led to victory by another Great Leader.
C-The 2nd Armored Division assaults Cyrene
Military Advisor- The city of Cyrene was situated on a narrow penisula and attempting to avoid incoming enemy fire was difficult, resulting in the loss of five tank squadrons.
D-The 2nd Armored Division assaults Bastion
Military Advisor- Once the 2nd had received reinforcements they moved on Bastion, while the 11th & 14th Armored divisions move as one towards the capital.
Military Advisor- The initial attack of the 2nd Armor was a failure, due to the presence of a regiment(8 units) of mech infantry, 5 tank squadrons and 3 APC squadrons. The 2nd lost a regiment of tanks and the entire attached battalion of ACAV. The surviving regiment of heavily-damaged tanks recovered before any Roman reinforcements could arrive and finally destroyed the enemy garrison. Per your instruction, they searched the city for any Sumerian civilians and upon finding none, the city was razed.
King Gudea- It has been a long time since Caesar captured the city from us. He probably eliminated our fellow countrymen a long time ago.
1952 to 1957 A.D.
The 5th Army Group moves out from Nineveh
E-The 16th Armored Division assaults Mediolanum
Military Advisor- The 16th Armor is being supported by the 5th ACAV Division.
F-The 17th Armored Division assaults Antium
Military Advisor- The 17th took the city right before Roman reinforcements arrived.
G-The 16th Armored Division assaults Sirmium
Military Advisor- In this battle the 16th encountered a Roman attack helicopter for the first time in this war.
King Gudea- They've come up with a new weapon a little too late.
H-The 17th Armored Division assaults Gordion
Military Advisor- While the 17th Armor attacked the city, some Roman artillery took potshots at us from the other side of the lake, thinking they were safe. Some well-placed ordnance from our stealth bombers took the smug smile off their faces.
I-The 17th Armored Division assaults Augustadorum
Military Advisor- The 17th took casualties for the first time and lost 3 tank squadrons.
J-The 16th Armored Division assaults Nicopolis
Military Advisor- The defenders of Nicopolis were well entrenched and took a massive toll on the 16th. The battle ended with the burning hulks of 8 Sumerian tank squadrons littering the battlefield.

King Gudea- I wonder if he knew what he was destroying? You would think the sabatuer would go after a tank production facility or something similar.
Military Advisor- Well, we won't be worrying about the Romans too much longer.
1958 A.D.
Military Advisor- The 11th & 14th Armored Divisions have approached Hispalis and are hammering away on the Caesar's home garrison.
Military Advisor- After six Roman mech infantry & two Roman tank squadrons fell, some of our infantry was sent in after Caesar. The Roman leader and his personal bodyguards fought to the death.
Military Advisor- With Caesar, his advisors and all his top officials dead, the last surviving Roman general has contacted us with an offer of unconditional surrender. He has had all remaining Roman military lay down their arms and the last few Roman cities and their populations will submit to your rulership. All that land and resources have been offered up for your acceptance.
King Gudea- I accept! How many Roman cities were left?
Military Advisor- In the north part of the island were the cities of- Jerusalem, Treveri, Agrippina and Eburacum and all four are now in your hands. It is officially a Sumerian world!!!
1962 A.D.
Military Advisor- My King, here are our military losses to the Roman empire. This list does not include the unfortunate loss of millions of Sumerian citizens to bombing raids and the cities razed by Caesar's forces.

For a long time she seemed like little more than a large collection of blueprints, components and alloy hull sections. Thru most of the long building process, the SSA-01 looked more like a downtown skyscraper project than a spaceship. That suddenly changed the day it was delivered to the launchpad.
King Gudea and his advisors stood out in a field, about a half-mile from the spaceship and it still loomed large in their eyesight. The huge gleaming form of the spacecraft stood on the left and a similar-sized gantry tower stood to the right, with catwalks reaching out to the ship, as if holding it up. Tiny figures could be seen moving back and forth on the catwalks, each one doing its own specialized task.
Science Advisor- She is a beauty, isn't she?
King Gudea- That is definately an understatement! When will it be ready for launch?
Military Advisor- We will be ready for liftoff in 2 days.
King Gudea- Have you all decided on a destination?
Science Advisor- The closest star to us is Alpha Centauri. I would bet any neighbor we might have is from there.
Military Advisor- Our forces will head there and depending on what is found there, they will either colonize or attack any aliens there, that is if an attack seems feasible. We don't know how advanced they may be.
Just then several Space Agency officials walked up, along with Gilgamesh in an orange flight-training suit.
King Gudea- Are you ready for this grand adventure into the great unknown?
Gilgamesh- Yes, my King.
King Gudea- I need someone I can trust to lead our forces against whoever is out there, so I sincerely hope you are ready, my friend.
Gilgamesh- It is not only me that is ready, but an entire division of space marines is also ready. The scientists have equipped us with a vast array of space-worthy vehicles and weapons.
King Gudea- Yes, I heard about some kind of a beam weapon and they perfected rail guns. They have also already begun work on a second ship that will follow you with reinforcements.
Military Advisor- We don't know how large or powerful any new foe will be, so we will be sending constant reinforcements.
They all stood there a while, staring at the giant ship silhouetted against the setting sun, then they headed back to Ur.

Two days later, after many goodbyes between old friends, the first Sumerian starship lifted off and headed into the vast reaches of space. Destination: Alpha Centauri.

Many, many moons later-
Gilgamesh and the 1st Space Marine Division arrived at Alpha Centauri and found that indeed there was an alien species existing there. Luck was with Sumeria, cause these aliens were distracted by a constant war with a nearby planet and the arrival of the Sumerian starship was not noticed. A surprise attack garnered a foothold on the planet for Gilgamesh and his men. With the eventual arrival of other Sumerian starships, the alien planet was soon under siege and after a number of years the Alpha Centauri aliens surrendered.
Before long, with the boost from the acquisition of alien technology, planet after planet fell to Sumerian conquest. The Sumerian empire grew to become several star systems strong and was growing at an ever rapid pace. Nothing could stop the Sumerian starfleet.
Eventually the names- Gilgamesh, Sumerian Empire and Emperor Gudea became feared thruout the galaxy.
