However, we cannot accept a peace with Japan if Beijing is given to Japan. We are happy to give monetary compensation but Beijing is the Imperial Capital, even thought it has been captured. We cannot just give it up. We hope that the Japanese will be satisfied with annexing Manchuria, Shandong and Indo-China.
