The Third World War 1989

The British Army had to get H&K involved with the L85A2/A3 which had long suffered from reliability issues. By all accounts, it's an excellent rifle now. A distant relative of mine, Major General Colin Shortis, was involved with its introduction into service when he was the British Army's director of infantry in the 1980s.
Your distant military relative only gets a stub article and no picture. You'll have to write a nasty letter to Jimmy Wales for this family insult... :p

Would a David Icke, Noam Chomsky, Glenn Beck, or Steve Bannon hard-copy book cut the mustard? :P

Nope, but they might cut the cheese. I should have said "Approved Hard-copy books"

Very interesting. My understanding (and I assume you are much more knowledgeable on the subject than me) is that the L85 action comes from the AR18, setup in bulpup form with ideas taken from the Stoner 63, to give it modularity and save on weight. Btw, the Singaporean SAR-80 and SR-88, the American Adaptive Combat Rifle, the Belgian FN F2000, the Japanese Howa Type 89 and the Heckler and Koch G36 that generally followed the L85 are all based on the AR18 so there is nothing wrong with the action itself. The prototypes worked great, but they took it too far on weight and cost saving with the A1. An interesting perspective by gun jesus here (he has a series of articles on the subject):

@Patine I think that current politics belong to the OT thread, this is a graphics showcase one. You make an excellent straw man argument though. :p

I love Gun Jesus. Forgotten Weapons is such an excellent channel. I support his work on Patreon as I do Wikipedia. Despite all of its well-documented flaws, it is an excellent resource when used as intended - a convenient entry point to any kind of research you may need to conduct. If you're just looking for a rough guide then the info is good enough. If you need accuracy then everything is sourced & you can check the validity for yourself.

I'm not an expert on the SA80 but I think it suffers, in some ways, with the same issues as Wikipedia. An ingenious concept which had early reliability issues that have dogged it ever since, even though much work has been done to rectify it's failings. When well maintained & used properly it will serve you well

Regarding political discussion. The odd comment is fine, but we should strive to keep the scenario a politics-free forum. Considering some of the topics we cover things could easily get messy. My attitude to scenarios is that they're purely focused on the historical novelty & gameplay. Therefore, a scenario about Nazi Germany is in no way an endorsement of the 3rd Reich, just as The Spanish Civil War is not an endorsement of Communism. Come to think of it, most of the scenarios produced over the years concern wars, but I would imagine that most, if not all, members are anti-war. Thankfully this has never been an issue in the years since I've been here. As Tanelorn said, if you want to talk politics then the OT forums are the place :)

Added the correct French Spectra helmet in place of the Modele 1978
Did the French Special Forces "converts" who ended the hostage taking of the Great Mosque in Mecca in the '70's wear any special or unusual outfit or uniform when they did so?
