Did Anyone miss me :D?

Anyone know how a TIE fighter works? Do those huge side panels even do anything other than serve as huge targets?

No one is ever going to miss you unless you stop this attention whoring and stop asking if people miss you.

Ignore him. Only people who actually give a damn will pay attention anyway.

Real reason: it looked good on screen.

But I'm sure the EU has some ridiculous and needlessly elaborate explanation to offer on the subject.

And yet I saw one flying in Hoth's atmosphere during a snowstorm. Besides, I don't think a solar panel on a space fighter will have much opportunity to absorb starlight anyway.

They are very, very good solar panels.

I actually just checked Wikipedia, and it confirmed what I have read before, they are solar panels.

More about the TIE fighters is that they lack hyperdrive, life support and shield generators, so they are very easy to destroy.

Yeah they are solar panels, which makes no sense whatsoever. They should've made them radiators but asking them to use sensical scientific principles to explain space magik is pretty lame I guess. Midiclorians!

Lately, in fact, people have been describing them as "radiator panels", not solar energy collection panels, with the TIE/ln's engines fueled by a small tank situated at the bottom of the cockpit. This explanation gains strength from the idea that the TIE/ln is a "short-range fighter", per Episode IV.

But, yeah, this is all just explaining away something that was designed to look cool first. And eyeballs - and squints, dupes, trips, etc. - definitely look cool.

So as per this post you should see to the left that I have made 69 posts. However, if you check my statistics you should see that I actually have made 156. Why does the counter decrease?

People who make scifi imagery have never learned that the concept of "form follows function" actually tends to work with scifi geeks. So they waste everyone's time just trying to make things that look cool. When they aren't making things try to seem both cool and familiar by grafting on things just because the ignorant public would find it more recognizable. So you have star destroyers with large superstructures and bridges well above the "deck" because, well, because that's the way some people expect to see ships look. :p

Two possibilities: 1) You made posts in either Forum Games or Imperium Offtopicum which do not contribute to post count

2) You made posts in one of the serial threads such as this one, or the rants/raves thread et al. After these threads reach page 50 they are archived in such a way as all of the posts are removed from the post count.

It must be this, thanks.

Sorry for asking, but what's the point of that?

What is wrong with the sentence "Graffiti as an act of vandalism is a crime"?

It's used as an example of a bad translation, but I can't see anything wrong with it. I guess it shows how stupid I am at English.
