Ask them what the purpose of the appendix is in human beings.

Wiki to the rescue!

Loren G. Martin, a professor of physiology at Oklahoma State University, argues that the appendix has a function in fetuses and adults.[6] Endocrine cells have been found in the appendix of 11-week-old fetuses that contribute to "biological control (homeostatic) mechanisms." In adults, Martin argues that the appendix acts as a lymphatic organ. The appendix is experimentally verified as being rich in infection-fighting lymphoid cells, suggesting that it might play a role in the immune system. Zahid suggests that it plays a role in both manufacturing hormones in fetal development as well as functioning to "train" the immune system, exposing the body to antigens so that it can produce antibodies. In 2004, he noted that doctors in the previous decade had stopped removing the appendix during other surgical procedures as a routine precaution, because it can be successfully transplanted into the urinary tract to rebuild a sphincter muscle and reconstruct a functional bladder.

Just tell them Allah loves wondrous variety.

I don't care how bad you think you are at making friends, go make some new ones.

Yes, I'm telling a person on the internet how to live.

Or make up some less annoying ones.

That will be a strange one as at least two of them have had appendicitis.

Ask them why some whales have hind leg bones.

Or why Penguins and ostriches have wings. Or why certain cavefish have eyes. Or why snakes have pelvises.

God is a dick, apparently. That's usually the gist of these conversations.

This is part of the prompt for my philosophy paper, but I'm having trouble understanding what it means. Any help guys?

Or how is it that we have a persistent sense of self, despite the fact that we no longer have any of the atoms and molecules we were born with?

Nine tailors make a man in Christ; his death at end, in Adam yet began.

Do they keep you locked up so that you only go outside on their say so?

No, but my dad kind of does. The only other time I can go outside is when I walk my dog.

Actually they use the existence of penguins as proof that God created the animals that way, as it's impossible for anything to adapt of the cold climate of Antarctica. I tried to say that Antarctica wasn't always cold, and that it became colder over time, but they dismissed it. One thing they always say is "Why would an animal want to change if it's perfectly happy the way it is?"
