But I bet you don't mean that.

I think you're asking how they're manufactured.

http://www.mre-meals.net/

I think it's a really mental way to feed yourself. Though I would eat them if there was nothing else.

I don't think they're even a sensible way of feeding oneself while hiking, for example. I'd just go with a lot of dried carbohydrate stuff, like oats, and dried fruit.

Not too interested in how they're manufactured. The first link was what I needed. Thank you.

Is the radio as a source of media and the electronics company apple really at odds with each other?

People are going to be persuaded that pre-paying is better than advertising one day, and radio is still free.

How are MRE's prepared and how do they taste as compared to, well, "normal" food?

Ever had backpacking food?

It's slightly worse than that.

Probably.

I always enjoyed them though, but I think that has to do with the fond memories I associate with them.

The corn beef hash was just awesome though.

Also, like, 5jillion calories.

Can you not get an International Driving Permit? They're valid for 12 months, aren't they?

Or maybe motorbikes are different.

Can't be any worse than my mother's cooking. If I ever come across an army surplus store in the following years I'll need to check out if I can get a couple packs to try it out. Could be neat.

Now I am very curious what you guys call suds...

Huh? Well I'm assuming suds in the US is slang for beer, which is cool. We only use it in the proper way, as in soapy water.

Obviously we have numerous slang terms for beer but suds has never really taken off. For instance you have songs with awesome lyrics like "I like a full bodied lager as much as the next hard workin' man, the taste of suds while dealin' stud I can surely understand"

We don't.

Hahaha! Okay, well... Thing is, the post you made that in is actually in reference to soap suds :) It -can- mean beer, mind you, but it wasn't in that particular instance. That's what confused me, I assumed you guys had some other name for it in soapy water.

After I posted I figured as much. I hadn't listened to the song you posted but "suds in the bucket" should have been the giveaway.

Another cross-continental crisis of confusion ably averted.

Alcohol is a good cleansing agent also?

It depends what you're trying to clean.

Alcohol is quite a good antiseptic. Or bactericide.

Alcohol is definitely (not) a good substitute for dish soap. Your hands would loath you.

That's right. Alcohol is a good substitute when "hand washing is unavailable or impractical". As it says on the bottle.
