I was thinking the same thing, because I thought it made Min cry since he had told Rand to keep her away because her beauty was too distracting. Or I could be wrong. ;)

BTW, Dease has been kind enough to spend half of his day explaining the palette system to me, so now I've put 2 flcs together for the Asha'man (default & fortify). When I find a flc to gif converter, I'll post previews here.

Here's a preview of the Default Flc.
Not much to it really, just a guy standing there breathing.
(you'll notice the only civ-color on the unit is the scabbard, which is blue by default)

Here is a preview of the Fortify Flc.
* of course you'll understand the pose more when you see the attacks that follow
(the gif cuts out on the western direction, but rest assured it's there ;) )

Thanks Alerum. ;)

And... Here's a preview of the Run Flc.
When I get all the Flc's done, I'll produce a preview with all the animations in sequence facing one direction. But until then you guys will just have to make due with these. ;)

And that concludes the easy animations. :)
All the rest of them will have special effect incorporated into them (AttackA, AttackB, Fidget, Victory, and Death). I've been saving these for last, because I'm still trying several different options with a couple of these. Some of them I'll produce like a normal unit, but for others it appears that making the effect an additional figure and then converting them into a multi-unit seems to be a much better solution. I would have liked to iron them all out this week, but I was pretty swamped with work. I'll see what I can do today, and then hopefully still get them all done this upcoming week. Until then... :)

Here's a preview of what I had in mind for AttackB.
I borrowed Kinboat's SpellLighning Flc and added it to the attack animation.
(once again the western animation didn't come through on the gif  )

Let me know what you think. :D
_____
EDIT: Recentered the lightning around the unit to get better positioning and doubled the distance between the Asha'man and the lightning strike

Can we make it so it seems as if it's coming from him instead of him pulling it out of the envoriment? It really is more Eddings then Jordan.:p:p

I could, but the fireball attack (AttackA) will be coming from him (his right hand) so I thought this approach would add a little diversity to his attacks. Otherwise the only real difference would be the color and small difference in texture. Who is Eddings by the way? :)

And while I'm here, I'll throw in a preview of the Fidget animation.
- during his default stance, he becomes bored and decides to manipulate a small ball of fire above his right hand. :)

Looking at that preview for AttackB, it does need a bit of reworking as far as centering goes. I'll try and post a preview of AttackA as soon as I can, so you can see what I'm talking about.

I did like the idea of being devoured by lightning though for the death, as if he had drawn too much of the source. I used the same SpellLightning Flc along with the death animation that I had rigged up. And this is what I came up with...

Death Flc. preview:

LOVE the death flc. Eddings is an author. In fact, in my mind he gave birth to modern fantasy... Tolkein, being old school. Should read at least one of his series... is all you need to read... the other series are just remakes of the first with new names.;)

At long last, the promised fireball attack.
Here it is AttackA

And for those keeping score at home, this means there is only one animations left to complete the unit... THE VICTORY! :D

EDIT: resized the storyboard to match up with AttackB

When I figure out what I want to do for the victory animation (didn't like the one I already made), I'll do some in-game testing. I want to make sure that with AttackB it's striking either directly on top of or right in front of the opposing unit. So far I only have the frames at 140x140 (with the exception of AttackA) which I'm not quite sure is enough. I might kick it out to 240x240 if necessary, we'll see.

Since the Rams don't play until 7:30 tonight, I'm going to try to wrap up the animations this afternoon. :) Then of course, I've got to figure out a plan for sounds. I know where I can get sounds for the fireball attack, but I've still got to find something for the lightning. Anyone know of something I could use? If you do, please let me know. The other animations, run, fortify, etc. I'll just borrow from another unit, so if you have suggestions for that too, please post them.

Later :)

EDIT: and I might take another look at AttackA and see if I can get the flame density to be just a bit wider. Like I admitted earlier, I'm a perfectionist. :mischief:

(not a short post)

Wow. Its good to see that this is still going on, quite a while ago, I was involved in the very initial stages of a WoT scenario. Though, I'm not playing civ all that much anymore, I figured I'd post some suggestions from a txt file I dug up.

WoT Scenario Thoughts:

Rivers navigable?

Stedding Resource -Allows building of ways, Ogier units, ogier built buildings. The ogier would obviously have the stedding resource in their steddings.

Ways- Airports/Airbases.

Aiel -Regular Aiel Warrriors (more HP), Aiel Army for each clan. though not filled yet. Cheap Army build for Aiel. Aiel units should be relatively cheap for them to build.

Tar Valon/Aes Sedai -White Tower=Espionage for cheap (represents manipulations) no one else has espionage. Warders have stealth attack. The Great Library! No army units. AS units? Ajahs? OP?

Amadicia (Children of the Light) -Dome of Light could generate a Whitecloak unit every X turns. Whitecloaks have hidden nationality! Allowing them to attack neighbors without going to war, to root out Darkfriends of course. Also using HN causes other nations to be unhappy with you. Should be able to build armies. Questioners?
Fortress of Light. Spymasters?

Andor -Largest Nation. Exports iron, tabac, grain. Actually has a working economy. Grain (and such) should be a tradable luxury, it makes people happy which allows a city to grow because you aren't converting to entertainers. Has ability to build armies. UU Queens Guard. Library of note ranked below the Tower's and Cairhien's. Whitebridge Wonder Tourists/Trade. Baerlon mines silver/gold/iron/copper; it also has Ironworks; city walls; farms to north not south. Two Rivers Longbowmen.

Borderlands: Defended against stealth attacks, unlike rest of world. All able to build Armies.
Shienar- Lancers, Excellent Defense.
Arafel -Skilled swordsmen.
Kandor -Military, but also traders.
Saldaea -Horse Gods. Exports Icepeppers, Lumber, and Furs

Cairhien -Disconnected from Resources recently by Aiel (needs to import) How to deal with Daes Dae'mar? Royal Library of Cairhien is #2 in the world. Also Rand's University. Has stone resource.

Altara -Barely a nation. No national unity, most residents don't recognize sovereignty of Queen.

These are some quick notes I made, while going through the Big White Book of Bad Illustrations. I hope some of these are useful, and I'll try to keep an eye on this thread.

OK, I just redid Attack B, doubling the spacing between the Asha'man and the lightning strike. If I've done it correctly, this should place the lightning directly on top of the opposing unit, which will look similar to the Asha'man's death animation... just for the enemy's unit instead. :)

EDIT: to check it out, just scroll up

And those were some good ideas Red Boxer, good to have you around. :)

That Asha'man looks like he belongs somewhere in the Matrix! Great unit BTW. I just hope the other units don't take as long ;).

IIRC, the guy who invented the prototype steam engine isn't dead. Hared Fel (the nice old man who Min really liked) was a philosopher, and was killed by a Gholam in book 6 or 7. The other guy is still working on his 'horseless cart' which astounds Randland (as of Book 8, I'm re-reading the series).

The upgrades become available with different techs, signifying a new gain in knowledge or ability in the one power. So here's what I suggest.

A1: has fireball attack
A2: has fireball & lightning attack
A3: has fireball & lightning attack, plus manipulate air and heightened senses (invisibility* & radar traits)
A4: has fireball & lightning attack, radar & invisibility traits, plus skimming (all terrain as roads + increased moves per turn)
A5: has fireball & lightning attack, radar & invisibility traits, plus traveling (airdrop & re-base abilities), and transport X amount of foot units

How about starting with a Soldier (A1 or A2 in the list above). After training (upgrading) he is a Dedicated (A3 with skimming). Even later, he is a full Asha'man (A5 with short-range Travelling - all terrain as roads and more movement than skimming).

Or you could have Soldiers, Dedicated and Asha'man. Each one is more expensive than the last, and has better attack, defense, etc.

The lightning could be used as a bombard animation, and the Matrix-fireball-throwing animation could be used as the standard attack.

Just some quick thoughts... Keep up the good work all!

Good, then I did remember correctly then. I was just thinking if I should go back and read all those books again.
