Nice work CamJH. I never thought of doing that with my pdf versions.

He probably got it off some kinda filesharing program. Legal if you own the books, it's just keeping a backup after all.

They had scorpion-type things too. At least, I think they did - look around the area when Rand checked out the school/academy place (in Caemlyn I think it was). Just do a search for "Academy" in the PDF versions.

They have also started to play with steam engines - imperfect ones though, they usually fall apart after a few feet, same place.

I remember the steam engines. I got a pdf from a file sharing site way back. I do own paper back copies of all the books though. I just used the pdf to print pages when I needed it to look like I was working.

While I don't necessarily promote any file sharing programs, that is where I picked up the pdf file shortly after Crossroads came out. Like I said above, I prefer my hardbacks, but the pdf has all the combined glossaries and makes things like word searches ("catapult" for example) possible.

The academy was in Cairhien BTW. :)

I fully endorse the use of P2P programs. Especially with books you already own. As Tjedge says it's just backing up your books without having to transfer them to your computer yourself. Check out some programs like emule, or edonkey... or better yet, be brave and get into Torrents before the MPAA takes away all the hosting sites.... anyway, back are target.

About the Acaedamy... that was actually one of my favorite sections of the books... Is as if Rand saw the possibilities and tried to jump start their civilization and culture a few hundred years. Good work on the Cats, makes me feel better knowing their there... just seems like most battles are fought without them.... Guess Jordan didn't think Arty was that important to the story... even though he's a Vetran of Vietnam and I'm sure understand the important of Arty better then anyone who hasn't been in that war. Anyway, I doubt there would be a need for Trebs, because that would be like having a musket loading rifle in a modern battlefield.... just no point in it. (Yes, this last part was mean to make it seem like I was on-topic, but I just wanted to share the P2P stuff.:P)

so when will the beat come out, and whats your next design, lord cam?

I love it, and cannot await your next unit :D

any hints on what it is before then? (as a note, while not my Avernum mod, though many of your units will be more then a little useful for it too, particueraley the Domani, and others like it, your units are wonderful "what ifs"(your domani makes a fairlly good "mithraic templar"), and useful for a personal sort of over all fantasy mod of my own.

Sorry, no. I use AIM. :)

EDIT: Oops, sorry Xen. I wasn't trying to ignore your question. Kinboat's helping me out with some models, so I plan on getting going on them once I get my hands on 'em. But I probably won't say what they are exactly just yet. To give you a little hint, they'll be a little less mainstream than the last couple.

I do need to figure something out for the King's Life Guard and the Panarch's Legion. So if anyone can remember details about them that would be helpful for designing how they should look or even what weapons they'd carry, I'd appreciate it. :)

Great job with the Domani, CamJH! :goodjob:
I'm planning on getting Poser 4 soon, so I might be able to lend a hand with the unit workload. Just thought I'd give a heads up. :D

no worries- I figured as much, or you just didnt have a clue yet (people in these areas of the forums are rarelly rude, with the exception of me, when I get uppity about the Roman empire, has happens from time to time ;))

that said, I'm sure most of what you make will have a good home in any personal mod of mine- particuley those last two you mentioned- they seem rather interesting :D

Sorry, drawing a complete blank. :(
Maybe you could try another search, like you did with the catapults. You know, if you hadn't already.
Just an idea. ;)

Panarch's Legion:
Before gates not much wider than the cart Domon was questioned again, by men in pointed helmets, their breastplates embossed with a tree painted gold. Soldiers of the Panarch's Legion.

a man in gilded, ornately worked plate-and-mail armor, a pointed golden helmet crested with white egret plumes under his arm. “Aeldra?” he called, smiling. “Aeldra, come look at me. I am named the Lord Captain of the Panarch’s Legion.

- Not that much to go on, but I guess at least it's a start.

There was nothing descriptive of the King's Life Guard, so I could try and just model their clothes after typical Tarabon fashion. I can try and give them baggy looking clothing besides their armor, but I don't think the cylindrical hats and veils would look right on a military unit.
