The World is Yours: Game's Thread

Russia has historically controlled Alaska, but we aren't intending on taking it from the Americans. The world is going through hard times right now, and most are trying to solve that problem. However, the areas controlled by other nations are their concern, and we believe the Indians can handle their own situation without intervention by the Chinese or Russians unless they ask for assistance. Heck, we wouldn't move into our North Korean neighbors even if they suddenly found themselves eating each other since they ran out of food. It is not our problem.

The Russians have forgotten not more then 10 years ago Kashmir was nearly the reason for a nuclear war between India and Pakistan and world war 3 did not seem to fix the problem. China is not interested in a new risk for a nuclear war on its borders.

Except for that there aren't any nuclear weapons in which to fight a nuclear war.

If you want to out right invade India and Pakistan, stop dancing around it by saying you care for the populous or you don't want a war that cannot be fought to happen there. Quit heckling your allies and stating out right that you want their territory. Its not professional in the least.

excuse me? We have repeatedly said we have no single intention to invade either India or Pakistan in the name of anything. But do know that if any risk to the Chinese state will rise from the area, we will use military means to stop such risk.

We demand China recognize its alliance with the entire BRIC organization (Brazil, Russia, and India). You signed this alliance, and your actions make us wonder if you even care about it. Should you not do so, and not relinquish any claim to Indian territory, we will be forced to terminate our alliance.

Brazil? When we joined the alliance we were under the impression it is an Asian alliance. We are sorry to inform the Russians but we do not want to be part of a world wide alliance, those were one of the reasons that lead to each of the past world wars.

We will retain an Asian alliance with India and Russia, but Brazil? What do they have to do with anything? India and Russia are enough capitalist nations we allied with for our own protection.

China was told before it signed the treaty, that it would be extended to all members of the old BRIC economic pact, Brazil, Russia, India, and China (note the acronym). Either the Chinese diplomats we spoke with don't have the greatest memory, or they must write such important things down.

Fine, if you wish to leave the BRIC alliance, do so. But know that the Chinese government will be known by Russia, and most of the world, as a group that does not take what they agree to seriously. Good day.

It must be our memory since what we remember is this:
Spoiler only for Russia, certain parts have been deleted :

We would like inquire about an alliance between our two nations. It would be truly awful if we began squabbling ..., and if we stood together, anyone who wished to challenge us would truly be out of their right mind. What do you say, ... and enter an alliance?

We will sign a NAP with India and Russia if it will relax the Russian ambassador to understand that we do not invade India.

Damn. There goes one of the veterans...

OK, Germany is up for grabs. Anyone interested?

I am! This looks like fun, and could need a few more players ;-)

Then you must be forgetting the second wave of messages, but that would reveal some information you would not like to be known. But if you really want, we will do so.

As for the NAP, why should we accept. You already broke a deal only a few months after it was made between us. How can we assume China will keep it's word now?

The reason we signed an alliance was for the protection of China but then Russia begun adding allies to the alliance and lately have even allied with Canada for a short while which for China seemed like a risk, since we are not interested in wars all around the world.

We have not canceled our part of the BRIC yet, and we did not know this alliance is an infinite one. We would like to cancel the alliance officially and replace it with non aggression pacts with the other BRIC members.

We were never allied with Canada, we have a MPP...and besides, that's none of your business.

Apparently you did when you stated you wanted no alliance with India or Brazil, which you had signed up for. If China doesn't want to be in said alliance, it doesn't need to be, but China does not have any authority to end an alliance no longer consisting of it. Brazil, India, and Russia, are still very much allied. If you want NAPs, you need to ask them, and not me. As for a NAP between Russia and China, you have our answer.

These seeming lapses of memory and insults to not only Russia, but to India and Brazil as well, are beginning to ware on our already thinning patience. If you have anything intelligent to say, by all means contact us (PM). If not, keep it to yourselves.

China has shown it no longer wishes to be part of the alliance with Brazil, Russia, and India. Unless they explicitly state that they want to re-enter the alliance, drop all claims to Indian territory (amongst other things), they will not be in the alliance. This is not an alliance with Russia, but an alliance with all three nations.

China is not interested in the Russian plans for a world war. Building a world-wide alliance is not in our interest.

Also, we have no claims on Indian territories, we have no idea what you are speaking of. I guess visual aids would make it more obvious - that India has claims on Chinese lands.

An Ambitious Project

It was a calm sunny day, barely a cloud in the sky as the man stood in his tower with binoculars in his hands and speaking in a headset, around him men and women worked feverishly on computers the chatter among them were drowned out by the chatter on the headset, below him the landscape stretched for miles, the city of Omaha surrounded him, despite all the traffic, the room was devoid of outside sounds. Suddenly a cracking sound interrupted the man from his gaze;

"Omaha Airport, this is Air Force One. Do you read?"
"Roger that, Air Force One, this is the tower. We read you loud and clear."
"10-4 Omaha."
"Air Force One, please drop to 20,000 and line up with runway 1."
"Roger Omaha, 20,000 feet, descending now."

The man brought his binoculars to his eyes and scanned the airspace to his north, quickly he found the blue and white plane and watched as it lined up with the runway;

"Tower, Air Force One on approach. Wheels are down."
"Roger Air Force One, we confirm your tires are down. Take it all the way."
"Roger."

The blue and white plane touched down perfectly, thanks to the veteran pilots at the controls. The majestic plane taxis off the runway and rolls to a stop right on the white x marked by the advance team. Another perfect landing. Immediately Air Force One gets flanked by police and Secret Service agents and the Presidential Limousine, President Allyson Sawyer leaves the plane and rushes to the waiting limo, followed by her husband and Vice President Thomas Jensen and his wife. Air Force One becomes another plane on the tarmac, but still protected better than other planes, the C-17 Globemaster III was parked nearby with all the tools needed to change the tires, do repairs, minor or major on Air Force One. Two more parked nearby had the presidential limos and several Secret Service Vehicles.

Today there were no reporters, but when the President returns from her trip, they will be near Air Force One waiting for her, tonight. Until then they were camped out at Union Pacific Headquarters, CEO Henry J. Buttars was waiting outside with his board of directors and the CEO of BNSF, they were welcoming the President to Union Pacific. The activity was prepared to coincide with the first rail being laid down to start the ambitious project funded by UP and BNSF. This project would be the first truly national passenger rail system, featuring state of the art high speed trains and top notch rails. The estimated cost is roughly 150 Billion dollars just to cover the track laying from Washington D.C to Los Angeles, many have wondered why they started laying track at Omaha instead of LA or Washington, and UP explained, 'The reasoning is simple, Omaha marks the center of the project, the rails will split, BSNF will go East to Washington, while UP will handle the West and the majestic Rockies.'

President Sawyer came to grant the project a presidential approval and cut the ribbon. She will stay to field questions and attend a dinner party hosted by CEO Henry Buttars before leaving for New York tonight. The project is already slated to be the most ambitious and daring undertaking by the railroad since the Trans-Continental Railroad was built. The entire project is being funded by UP and BNSF with no funding from Congress, but both CEO's say that private donations will be accepted, they also say they will not go to Congress for money.

They plan to rival the French and German rail system in both speed and comfort, the old Amtrak did not fare well due to speed restraints, except in the Washington Corridor, but that was only local and not national, and many argue that was what eventually killed them after the collapse of the economy. The new system aptly called, APE, Atlantic-Pacific Express, will connect New York, Washington, Baltimore, Miami and many other Eastern cities with those in the West, such as LA, SF, Seattle, and Dallas. These bullet trains, they expect, will reach speeds of up to 300 miles an hour in the open plains of the Mid West, but will probably top 200 in average. They expect the train to go from Washington to LA in 24 hours, nonstop, but each train will take an average of 2 days to make the trip. Still better than driving a car. Made even more so by the fact that you will have your own berth, with bed, food, lounging, games, a bar, restrooms, and so many other perks that cars cannot provide, all included in your ticket, which CEO's expect should be 100 a ticket, 200 for first class cars and 800 for a platinum ticket, meaning, for the trip you live like a god, servants will watch over you, bring you food, and you will have half of an car all to yourself. Estimated completion, 2020, summer.

Sorry for that, but I had not seen the Nation's Thread and didn't know everyone had posted orders (well, save for UK). I'll try to write the update for tonight, I swear (and ask that Spain wins in tonight's match against Serbia!)

Africa
War drums resound in the South

As the consequences of the Battle of Swaziland start to drift off, South Africa prepares for a new war. Now that the two small kingdoms of Lesotho and Swaziland have been added to the Union, a third nation seems poised to become the next target of the South African Army attempts to expand order through the Black Continent: Zimbabwe, in the eastern coast of Africa. Gathering their main army and posting it on the border with their northern neighbours, they expect to be able to coax the Zimbabwe government to join the South African Union, but already Zimbabwe has answered that “we will not accept your attempts of blackmailing!”

Asia
China piles up, no one knows their next objective

After the chaos that the invasion of Vietnam supposed for the Red Army, the Army was engaged in several counter-insurgency operations in order to make sure that all the guerrilla fighters were defeated or killed. As the insurgency slowly disappeared, China would retire part of the army that had been stationed in Vietnam, but keeping the 2nd Red Infantry Division as a deterrent to further guerrilla attacks. With this last movements, they have started to accumulate military units in China proper, but it is not known yet which might be their next objective in their efforts to expand the Asian Communal, as Chairman Mao has claimed to be the name of the new organization that will encompass the efforts of all the Asian Communist nations.

Iraq builds factory, bombards Lebanon

After the great Syrian Exodus, in which people of all religious creeds save for the most reactionary Shiite people and which depleted the country of most of its population as the Iraqi invaders started to force conversions among all those that aren't fast enough or don't have the money to finance their runaway from the country, and those that reject the enforced conversion are either killed or sent to prison until they “repent from their sinful ways”. These actions have brought international condemnation from most of the world's governments, save for the few who share their point of view such as their fellow Shiite nations Iran and Pakistan. Also, Iraq has started a bombing campaign against the small nation of Lebanon, which will probably result in an eventual invasion of the country in the near future.
Iraq: +3c (in Syria)
Lebanon: 1 Infantry Division at half strength.

Europe
Germany: new Elections

In Germany, the onset of new elections paralyzes all military activities of the European nation. With incumbent Chancellor Oskar Abatz retiring from the race due to health problems, the race to the Bundeskanzler position has started between CDU candidate Christian Ergel and SPD candidate Lucilla Heuss. So far, Ergel holds a minor advantage in the polls over Heuss, thanks to his work at Abatz's government as Federal Minister of Defence, but everything may change from now to 28th March, when the voting will be held.

If last month wasn't enough proof, now it is clear: the URSS is being revived

With last month's victory over the small Estonian army, now Russia has aimed its guns to the central Baltic Republic, Latvia, where the Estonian government had fled some time before Tallinn fell. As the newly created 11th Guards Army (formed mostly by Estonians of Russian ascendency or Russians inhabiting Estonia) keeps order within the Estonian territory, the Steel Guards Army launches an attack on Latvia, where the Estonian government-in-exile has resided since the Battle of Tallinn. As soon as news of fights in the Latvian-Estonian border broke out, the Estonian and Latvian governments were taken towards the south, to Lithania, just before the Russian Army managed to encircle Riga. As a great number of people ran towards the south, the small Latvian Army would meet the Steel Guards head on, being able to keep the 1st Russian Mechanized Infantry Division at bay, but once the T-95s joined the battle, the Latvians were soundly defeated. Just as the two exiled governments boarded a plane that would take them to an undisclosed country (rumoured to be the United States) Russia would manage to finally surround Riga, although they weren't able to follow on orders from Premier Putin to arrest both governments. Meanwhile, in Estonia, the 11th Guards Army has started to round up all people who have been part of anti-Russian organizations and sent them to prisons in Russia proper, where they aren't expecting to be trialed fairly by the Russian judiciary system, although one can hope...

2 T-95 Divisions, 1 Mechanized Infantry Division vs 1 Mechanized Infantry Division (10-4): 1 Russian Mechanized Division at half strength, 1 Latvian Mechanized Infantry Division destroyed
Latvia conquered by Russia: 1 Garrison for 1 turn
Russia: +2c, +1 Treasury

There are no Pyrenees anymore

That is what the legend says Louis XIV said when his grandson Philip was willed the Kingdom of Spain by Charles II. This is legend, of course. Those words were never said by the Sun King, actually. However, today it is true that there are no Pyrenees anymore, for Spain has managed to conquer the land of Jeanne D'Arc and Charles de Gaulle through an impressive move that many strategists would have been proud of: while the main group of the Spanish Army crossed the Pyrenees and prompted the advance of the French Army towards the south, the ASDE Suárez fleet managed to bring the rest of the Army through the sea. In the Battle of Bordeaux, the 1ª Brigada Motorizada would meet the 1st French Army, and things were kept quite balanced, but with a slight advantage for the Spaniards as they had several Armoured Divisions. Then came the 1ª Brigada de Asalto, helped from afar by the SDSM Suárez fleet, which stroke at the back of the French Army, which, caught between two fires, wasn't able to stand it, but went out in a blaze of glory, killing a whole Infantería Hispana Division and leaving the remaining two with many losses. This sacrifice was what allowed the French Government to take up a flight to nearby Ireland, not picking the United Kingdom due to the recent crisis regarding the French civilians that had been killed in the January Riots. However it is, now the Spanish flag flies next to the French flag in the Champs Elysées and the Eiffel Tower, as a sign that France still is part of an important nation.

3 Infantería Hispana, 2 Mechanized Infantry Division, 2 Armoured Division, 1 Transport Fleet vs 3 Mechanized Infantry Division (20-12): 1 Spanish Infantería Hispana destroyed, 2 Spanish Infantería Hispana at half strength, 3 French Mechanized Infantry destroyed
France occupied by Spain: 2 Garrison for 3 turns.
Spain: +5c

UK continues with isolation

Despite the continuous political and military changes all around the world, the United Kingdom continues with their well practiced policy of isolation from the rest of the world. However, no reason has been given by the government, nor any activity has been noted within the Royal Army, the Royal Navy or the Secretariat for Business, Innovation and Skills. No amount of questioning in the Houses of Parliament has been able to obtain answers as to the activities of the Government in these last two months has managed to obtain any acceptable answer. Life goes on in the United Kingdom, but with the last thing the government did was to manage the protection of the French civilians in the UK, the image of PM Harriet Jones is worsening as time goes on.

North America
US Army reinforces

Continuing with the trend of the last few months, the US Army makes no movement out of their borders. There is, however, a new recruiting spree has been launched, and the 3rd Tank Brigade has been created, joining the famed Iron Hammers Division, based out in California. However, the inactivity of the Armed Forces has started to make President Allyson Sawyer support amongst the more hawkish members of the House of Representatives, and some action may be needed if the President wishes to continue in her position and help her party keep the Senate and the House in the midterm elections of the next year.

South America
Brazil stops conquering, starts consolidating

After last month's conquest of Guyana and Suriname (finally joining the 3 Guyanas under one banner, even if it is one they didn't expect at all), the Brazilian government has decided to start consolidating its gains in South America, and has ordered the 1st and 2nd Army to stay where they are, recruiting from locals that wish to earn a good salary by working in the Brazilian Forces as Brazil itself sees a new industrial city being build up between Brasilia and Saõ Paulo. It is hoped that it'll be finished in a few weeks, and that it'll give job to several tens of thousands of people, which, according to calculations, could improve the GNP in a 3% for this year.
Brazil: 1 Factory at 10/13

Iraq - 12c/0T

@Everyone: I have found a way to do the maps without having to put the tags for the armies/navies/squadrons directly on the nations through multi-layering, which, fortunately, Paint.net allows. Hope that you liked this update.

Just to let you know, the United States do not have a House of Parliament, we do have a House of Representatives. Or Senate. Or Congress.

Mr. President, do you know what this South African Quarter is worth in your country?

It is worth 72.555 Trillian Zimbabae Million Dollar Bills... Yeah... I suggest you surrender soon.
