The Worst and the best events

I'd go for the gold with the Courthouse. At least then you get more money and culture isn't important if you're in a space race.

My worst event would be those tornadoes and tsunamis... nuisances

Best event: I'd go with the superhighways or the one where I finish a Corporate Quest and I get +20 gold per corp per city! CHA CHING CHING CHING!

Best event I have gotten is when I got -25% inflation. Wow I was set for the rest of the game with money.

Yes, the inflation reduction was the best event so far for me too. It saved me more than 100 gold for all the several hundreds of turns afterwards, meaning the event was worth tens of thousands of gold in total.

When your two turns away from founding a religion and your research is hindered by an event then another civ founds the same religion. Thats happen to me twice and both times I have to stop playing for a couple of hours to calm down.

If it happens again i'm definately turning the events off.

The event that destroys my iron mine as the barbarian hordes are getting ready to swarm my city. Fun stuff.

My favorite is for sure the heriditary line dying off, and you get a free specialist. I like thgat they are all dependant on what civs you have, and money you have.

My last game I was playing as Ethiopia and I got "All Musketmen receive Pinch promotion". I cranked out like 50 Oromo Warriors and delayed Rifling as long as possible. When I got Assembly Line, with free Drill I+Drill II+Pinch, they upgraded into some freaking awesome Infantry.

Worst: The barbarian uprising that put 5 archers just outside my borders around 2500BC (while I was building my first settler). I had one warrior in the city and one archer 3 squares away on the way to the future site of city #2 (just too far to make it back in time). Game over, dude. There is simply no way to survive that.

Best: The one that gives cover to all melee units. Useful.

This one is a mixed bag - the crashed airliner quest has gotten me Flight for free in the past due to its frequency, it is also useful in repairing/destroying relations with the AI

The Build 7 Libraries, Bonus with Great Library, Quest I remember turned out well but I don't remember the details of the rewards.

The Holy Mountain Quest is worthless to actively pursue IMO

I wish I got the library quest. I've heard of it before, but I've never actually gotten it. I seem to get the Sports League or Harbormaster quests an inordinate number of times, although I had the Stables quest and selected the +1 food in the past game.

When I get the airliner crash, it's usually in an AI's territory and I can only organise a search team to go get it. Does this mean the AI can steal Flight off me?

I can't finish a Harbourmaster Quest. I've only got 3 coastal cities ya know!

I got the Quest of the Blessed Sea (colonise 13 landmasses for a bonus) on a map with only 5 landmasses...

I don't think there's a "worst" event, there's just some horrid timing or a lot of stupid spamming. I mean the tornados and the mines collapsing are acceptable as they add some flavour, but that a tornado destroys your very first barracks just 1 turn after you completed it or that the same mine collapses 10 times in a row makes me just want to restart the game and disable random events.

After thinking a bit, I found the worst event ... the barbarian uprising which tends to eradicate 2 to 3 civs. It's flawing the whole game ... or wasting it if you belong to those 2-3 civs

One of the best events is imo the +2 hammers on a mine. It happened once on a hill which revealed Coal a few turns later

I like the little events which add character to the game. Like saying one of your men has created a new musical and that has raised culture.

Of course one of the most powerful is the inflation one. I got that once late game and it made me so rich.

I love the ones which affect relations like weddings and such, they can be usefull but the most usefull is when your men save some of the enemy soldiers and it gives you an opening to peace. At the right time this can be very usefull for free peace and saved me in one war when i had my back to the wall.

I can't finish a Harbourmaster Quest. I've only got 3 coastal cities ya know!

Much to my disappointment, I got that quest again in my current game as Portugal. I'm only at 4 main coastal cities right now, but fortunately I can colonize to get the extra cities required for the quest's completion.

I just wish my game had some more variety with the quests...I always seem to get one of the two: Harbormaster or Sports League.

Not a bad event, but a very annoying streak. Within a handful of turns I had a fire, slave revolt, and mining accident in the same city. I ended up with 4 x just from that. That's a big setback in the beginning of the game.

I assume it does - if the AI values your relationship it will give you access to the site - when you hear that it denies the crash that means it is stealing 20% or so of the research price at the expense of relation points

Best, dunno. The +/+/+ on random tile is neat.

The best is a slave revolt... when it occurs in my opponent's capital while I've got a stack right by it !

Basically the city loses all its defense for one turn (saves me time bombarding).
