Is it me, that every year we seem to have a flood that the press call the worst in 50 years? Whats weird it seems to happen in the same place. Also, what happened fifty years ago was the world consumed biblical floods?

Or is it just poor press coverage, are they just saying that to get people to read or listen? Or is the press being lied to?

Also, why is it, in Britain, that everytime a geographically large disaster happens the press says that it "covers an area the size of Wales"? Is that just another case of lazy journalism?

What about other countries do they get the same or similar sayings being blurted out by the press?

I'll tell I wouldn't like to be living 50 years ago, if the press are for once telling the truth!!!!!

If think it is and area the size of 'Whales'.....

But you are right. Apparently if they actually said 500 square miles stupid people would understand

Maybe you should stop reading the tabloids. At least if your looking for facts as opposed to sensationalism. ;)

Anglo-Saxon wishful thinking about disaster for the Celts?!

Actually it is the worst flood for the last 150 years and it´s not over yet, so it will probably reach the great flood from 1501AD, 501 years ago.
It´s nice that Britain can stay so calm about it, but I´m living right here where the flood may reach me in 2 days.

So I´d suggest that you get your facts straight and do some thinking before posting, you really cool guy.
Thank you.
:(

Lucky,
I apologise on the behalf of Redtom,
as a UK resident I feel great concern for our friends in Germany, where homes and lives are under threat from this disaster.

If the water is going to be reaching you soon, get all valuable equipment to higher ground, right away!

That is already done and no need to apologise for someone else. But ignorance like this is the worst behavior in my eyes.

Move the V-factories to higher grounds first. They are your hope of success in this war! Then try to secure alternate transport lines for the oil from the Ploësti fields, while making sure that they are adequately defended against Allied air attacks. Don't let the flood stall you, the war is still not lost, though the tide is changing!

*opens the windows calendar and realises it says 2002 and that he's sitting at a pc*

... whoops... it's not 1943...

Sorry... forget it...

...:D

normally it is also normally everything is the hottest coldest wettest and other things for the last 50 years

Hush your flapping lips, Insurgent! You will let our enemies know our plans!
For punishment; A 50-mile sprint across freezing Russian frontlines will help you see the error of your ways!

I will follow in my FW190...to keep you running...

Commence running!

Probably the same reason the compare everything to the size of Rhode Island here in the States.

It simply is the worst flood in that many years.
And yes, there are new, worse floodings and other things, storms for example, every second year to say the least. And you know what, that's how it is ;)
That's not some funny idea by a creative tabloid editor, these things can be measured and compared. The result of such comparisons is that it is the worst whatever in soandsomany years. Make of that whatever you want...
