If you want me to take a turn within an hour or so of your commit, you'll have to be about 15 minutes faster on that than you were last night. Otherwise it must wait about 20-23 hrs for the next moment of availability.

Harrier up! The game pace in play ( not by player) is a bit slower than you all are probably used to. Not having Trade partners right away is part of the reason but there are other factors too that were introduced in svn 9445, the basis of this game. By now everyone should have at least multiple cities founded and exploration really starting to take off. Barbarians are out and about. To me this time of exploration and expansion is the Fun part of any BtS and C2C game. I know that by the time we have contact with each other certain players will have massive armies ready to go out and conquer the world. I just hope the game play allows that to be stalled just long enough to allow everyone to have burgeoning Empires. The Age of Sail will be exciting!
