Language is contextual; when people complain that grammar rules aren't being observed what they're really saying is that people are using slang or colloquial grammar inappropriately. But we're not in a courtroom or even a classroom, so how are we using slang/colloquial grammar and language inappropriately?

Why would people on the Internet want to quash the use of slang? Maybe they feel threatened by the expression - in speech and writing - of experiences they have not had and don't understand.
