This is my boomstick!!!!

Oh wow, tickety boo is a Danny Kaye reference. Talking about old school. I am expecting to be the only one who actually knows who that is, but maybe more people are as old as I am :p But Tickety boo means "everything all right/going smoothly". This is for Woop, otherwise he/she has to google it too :p

Ok, now that things are clear, I suggest we get corp asap. Stealing will take to long to be honest and we are better of stealing democracy. Corp can be researched in 5 turns. In 5 turns we will not even have the spy in place for 2 turns. Now to where put the mining corp. I was hoping Constantinople but without the shrine.... I suggest we start milking more cities for possible GP's. There are 4 holy cities on our turf (KubaiSaleh even double so could even be a better spot for mining inc). But I do not want to wait that long. If Kubai Saleh does not have a shrine either we could use 4 GP's.

So PPP:
1) So tech corp and get mining corp in Constantinople. I would even go as far as cottaging/windmilling everything around it to get the commerce up. Get the bank in place there and start on Wall street and hope for a GP.
2) Finish Mehmed. Take Gao as last city and then strike Hatse and take Kubai Saleh.
3) Move a stack towards Kyoto and take a city from Roosevelt. This will release the cultural pressure of Kyoto (and finally give him the double cow) and Kyoto can build the FP.

That's OK by me to steal Democracy and self-tech Corporation. It'd be nice if Hatshepsut or Roosevelt just built The Statue of Liberty for us instead!

Also note that Bismark has Marble available for trade if we wanted it for Hindu Mandirs (Priest slots) or the National Epic somewhere.

Best of luck.

(woop's a :queen:, not a :king:)

Haha! I actually knew what tickey-boo meant! Killroyan, I like your plan. I think we may want to consider consolidating our forces once Mehmed has been destroyed. Note there is a little stack in the South advancing on Mehmed's Southern most city. It's poorly defended so should fall with the unit I have sent there.

Well well what can I say. All is tickety boo :p Just like Woop, I am having a lot of fun. Everything is in place now :)

So many troops running around, so it is very easy to attack cities and conquerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

First city gets hit:

Spoiler :
civ4screenshot0004z.jpg

Not a brilliant city but comes with a forge, market and grocer. Thank you Mehmed. Apparantly 2 screenshots were not taken right because I conquer 2 more cities of Mehmed. Only Gao is left in the middle of the Malinese empire but I have big plans for that city.

In the meanwhile our spy is stationary in a Japanese city and tries to steal democracy. But does she succeeds?

Spoiler :
civ4screenshot0005vr.jpg

She does succeed but looses her life for our glorious empire. That is the way of our boomstick.

Corperation is in and I dial up liberalism so we can make the big civic change. But first:

Spoiler :
civ4screenshot0006ow.jpg

Another city joins our empire. Mehmed is dead. Long live our boomstick. This was incredible necessary though because WW was adding up like mad. We had 11-12 angries from that :p Hatse is getting annoyed with us and wants steampower. I tell her where she can shove that proposal. Yes, in her big hat.

Spoiler :
civ4screenshot0007q.jpg

But she does have rifling now. She will be tougher nut to crack now, so upgrade the redcoats with pinch if possible. I start moving our armies to the front. Gao will be our jumpboard to Kumbai Saleh for the Malinese empire. I am also amassing a small army in Kyoto to hit Japan.

Then we have the problem of the great priest. I build a mandir in New Castle and insert 5 GP specialist. Lets cross our fingers. Torquay is also working on a mandir and has 2 GP specialists selected.

Spoiler :
civ4screenshot0008k.jpg

We could milk new castle even a little more if we build the christian cathedral. This might be advisable.

I made the following big civic switch:
Spoiler :
civ4screenshot0009o.jpg

That is 3 turns of Anarchy, but with a reason. We can now declare war on Roosie and the malinese if we want to without suffering WW. Then after the two turns and about 2 rounds of warring we could sue for peace from both nations and hopefully get some techs in. We have our armies set up and some more are on the way and we could even pull out some more armies from other cities.

Spoiler :
civ4screenshot0010t.jpg

And the big stack in Gao

Spoiler :
civ4screenshot0012r.jpg

Then I found a sleeping engineer in Liverpool. Checked Canterbury and we can build the SoL in 13 turns and we have a spare engineer. So we could speed build it. Any objections?

Spoiler :
civ4screenshot0014.jpg

The other engineer is in Constantinople and can build the mining corp this turn.
Spoiler :
civ4screenshot0011e.jpg

If we have mining corp in place and get the SoL also then we are set totally for world domination. I did select assembly line next to get powered up infantry. We could still trade around steampower but I do think we will get the techs from Hatse and Roosie.

For the next one, enjoy warring on two fronts :)

If we stuff it from here, we only have ourselves to blame! Nice turnset. :)

My view is that all we need is Combustion and Assembly Line, and we can just roll over Bismark and/or Brennus from there. I don't really see the need for Artillery, Industrialism, Flight, Biology, or Medicine (Sid's Sushi), but I can understand if others on the roster do.

I'm fine with the proposal to hurry production on the Statue of Liberty with the Great Engineer (assume post-Anarchy). I guess that The Pentagon might have some appeal, but it's hardly needed to win this game. Hurrying Wall Street in Constantinople also could be a consideration.

I wouldn't trade away Steam Power - it'll help the AI more than ourselves imho.

If we stuff it from here it is back to Kindergarten. Seriously :D

Roster:

Cam_H (Up)
Creedakota (on deck)
Woop
Killroy (just played)

PPP:

Tech: Assembly Line > Combustion

Found Mining Inc. in Constantinople. Build a Mining Inc. Executive and then a Courthouse in Constantinople.

Put :espionage: on Bismark. Dead cheap to see his cities, as we've put 0:espionage: on each other so far. I like Bismark over Brennus for our victim. Lots of coastal cities, and Paris is the Buddhist Holy City.

Satsuma, Nagoya, Nagasaki, and Newcastle to become naval centres. Drydocks pre-Factories.

Hold off the hurry on The Statue of Liberty until we're out of anarchy. Roosevelt or Hatshepsut might build it in the interim, and while fail :gold: is nice, I'd rather use the Great Engineer for Wall Street or The Pentagon if we lose The Statue of Liberty in the next few.

Attack Roosevelt and take Izumo and Nara before getting Scientific Method (reveals Oil) out of him. Attack Hatshepsut and take Kumbi Saleh and Djenne before getting Physics out of her.

Maintain the focus on Priests with the hope of popping a Great Prophet for the Kashi Vishwanath.

Spread Mining Inc.

Now that is a solid plan. Just like I had in mind. Good call on the SoL. Only rush it if there are 7 turns left (normal amount of rushing with a GE if I am not mistaken). Might save us a great engineer.

But about mining corp, check Kumbai Saleh first. It is a double holy city so it might be far more interesting to get the corp there if both shrines are present (depends on spread).

Spy points on Bismarck is ok with me. Assembly line and combustion is all we need. Maybe artillery after that just to be sure :) Infantry, destroyers and canons should do the trick.

Roflmao. I like Rob Schneiders guest performances in about every Adam Sandler movie and vice versa. But Cam, yeah you can doo eet.

 ... cut his head off???!

The Kumbai Saleh suggestion is intriguing
icon3.gif
. I think that with Constantinople ready to go, versus a city that will take a few turns to capture and then overcome 'resistance', I lean to 'Plan A'; Constantinople and hoping that we pop that Prophet. 'Yes', both Shrines are up in Kumbai Saleh and have 14% combined spread versus Hinduism's 21%. Do we feel lucky? It's a really good proposal though, and I'm happy to accommodate the roster if we'd prefer Kumbai Saleh for Wall Street and Mining Inc.

I'll hold off the hurry on The Statue of Liberty until we have invested sufficient :hammers: for the Great Engineer to finish it.

Good PPP, seems like all we need to discuss is the location of Mining INC and Wall Street....

It looks like we are ready to go to war with HAtty right now? If so then I would hold off for the bigger boost of the double shrined city. I would also use the GE for Wall street there, that will help us more than SOL.

If a hatty war is like 10 turns or more away, just get started on Mining INC now. If Wall street is built in Constainople I would use GE for Pentagon instead.

In general I think Pentagon will help us more than SOL. I think our wars with the other continent are going to be at near tech parity anyway so have a more experienced and better positioned army will be the key to our success.

I also recommend sending a missionary or something over to the other continent to do some scouting.

Thanks for the feedback Cree.

OK, maybe this; we go with 'Plan B' and make Kumbi Saleh our :gold: fountain if we miss a Great Prophet out of Torquay, and back to 'Plan A' (Constantinople) if we do get a Great Prophet (?).

I'll play this evening.

Sounds solid. Good luck playing.

Things generally fine ... we took the four cities, but both Hatshepsut and Roosevelt won't cough up desirable tech's. They're willing to capitulate, just not hand over a well known technology to us.

One of them bribed Bismark/Ragnar into war with us, but aside from one naval loss, it has been a fake war.

Added; Scientific Method and Assembly Line. We have plenty of Oil. Many cities are building Factories. I've made a start on the Forbidden Palace. We missed the Statue of Liberty (Brennus) although Queen Hatshepsut has kindly built Broadway for us.

Kumbai Saleh has become the home of Mining Inc. as it happens. It just got out of resistance ... we still have the other Great Engineer, and not made a start on The Pentagon (in light of Factory builds).

Looking good!!!!! I really want a peak into Kumbai Saleh :)

Well, it went OK, but not swimmingly;

As noted, I couldn't get either Hatshepsut or Roosevelt to make peace for Scientific Method, and therefore we just self-researched it. Now they won't offer Physics for peace.

I think only one or two of our Cannons survived 50-50 type battles, and anything less was doomed. As such, we're a couple of Cannons down.

We've got a small annoyance in this ...

Boom_1838_Hatshepsut_Frigate.jpg
... that's along our eastern coast ripping up Fishing Boats. We've got no navy on that side of the continent.

Just a few other notes:
  • 'Build Culture' in Djenne and Nara are 'placeholder' builds while they're in resistance, but with Sistine's influence, they should get their first border pops within a turn or two after they overcome the resistance.
  • There's a 'stop growth' on Tokyo. Working the best tiles will cause it to move into unhappiness.
  • Nottingham had better chances of popping a Prophet for the Kashi Vishwanath, so we're running Priests there and wound back Torquay to just the one Priest.
  • Osaka just moved into unhappiness on the last turn due to an increase in war weariness.
  • I've just noticed that Angora should be micro-ed so that the Granary is built before the population grows.
  • We've moved our stack to just outside Timbuktu. It's on a Hill and/but across a river. I wasn't sure if we were intending to keep this war going with Hatshepsut, but I thought that if so, we could bombard down the defences in relative safety, and then swing the units around to the east to avoid the 'attacking across river' penalty.
  • Another thing that I've just noticed; if we wanted to stop Hatshepsut from building Cannons, we can cut off her Iron next to Djenne.
  • Hindu Mandir in Tokyo must have been a mis-click ... I can't explain that one. Please un-queue it.

Kumbaia Mylord Kumbaia!!!! What a city. Double shrine yeahaaaa. With some infra and some missionaries spread this city will rock!!! If possible I would say lets take out Timbuktu. It has the spiral minaret which will boost our economy by a lot (+60 gpt at least). Leave both AI's with 1 city left so we can build up an army to invade the other continent. Focus spy points on one of them. Based on their technologies Hatse would be the best choice but I think our esp is still focussed on Roosie. If that is the case then let Roosie live and finish of Hatty after 1 set of peace for a tech.

Cam, why is the hindu mandir a misclick in Tokyo. It brings in hammers and science and happies and as far as I know Tokyo is a great city who can use happies. And our economy!!!!! Finally making money at 40% haha. It is about time. 800 beakers though is still laughable at this point.

Overall great turnset. Cree, I am awaiting your PPP :D

Thanks for your thoughts Killroyan.

My gut feel is to concentrate on Mining Inc. as the most productive way of getting Kumbi Saleh's income up. Spreading Hinduism is fine if we stick with it as our State Religion and hopefully shrine the Kashi Vishwanath in Constantinople, but I'd not be too concerned with Confucianism.

If one of the other roster members suggested that continuing to toy with Roosevelt and Hatshepsut was now becoming a bit futile as we can't seem to extract the tech's we want out of them as hoped, then I wouldn't disagree. I'm at the point where I think that we should just kill off Hatshepsut, and keep Roosevelt in a state of near death while we get our 'ducks lined up' for Bismark's displeasure ('ducks' meaning Mining Inc., Factories, Power Plants, Infantry, Cannons, Destroyers, Transports, and possibly other units). Kumbi Saleh being an exception, where we need a Couthouse and :gold: multipliers. When we're ready, kill off Roosevelt and DoW on Brennus to satisfy the variant. I'd maintain espionage on Bismark - we've already got city visibility, but we could lose it if we re-weight our points now that Bismark is switching his focus partially on us.

My suggestion would be:

1) Get mining inc to Canterbury. Spam Executives there (1 turn per executive). Capital and York first ones to receive, after that naval cities.
2) Kumbaiah Mylord goes factory, courthouse and then bank/market/grocer/WS.
3) Finish of Hatty and use Roosevelt as a playground for our spies.
4) After combustion either industrialism or artillery. Both are good. Industrialism really boosts mining inc with aluminium and tanks are just great as well as marines.
5) If the pentagon is still available we could also speed build it in Canterbury with executive and GE. In that case Canterbury gets the first executive, builds one and starts on Pentagon. Next executive to HE city and that city will spam executives. Does the HE help with that unit production btw?
6) Find some mediocre cities who can build confu and islam missionaries and spam them.

We should be able to invade the other continent in 30 turns or so. The others don't even have steam power yet so that is a good thing.
