TNESI: The Glorious Mysteries

OOC: A fanatical Shi'ite Islamic sect which has diverged massively from the rest of Islam is still Muslim to Hindu eyes. In any case, he's too far away to be of much use to me, and so the enemy-of-my-enemy perspective is rather strained in this particular instance.

Depends on how you look on the issue, though indeed such an alliance is pointless in the short-term.

but its always the long term that changes the world in the most drastic ways

Actually the short term is also effective. Look at Alexander the Great, short term success long term failure that caused the weakening of Greece and spreading of hellenization. And also because of him, a ton of wannabe Alexanders popped up throughout history wanting to emulate his greatness ;)

point taken... but still who knows

I know, I know. I did read the amazing timeline. I just don't want NPC Aragon to get jumpy :p But I will take that into consideration.

As a hint, just call yourself Emperor of Spain, without saying whether its the entire Spain or just some parts of it. ;) You do have a legitimate claim to that title, btw.

OOC:The situation in Aragon is very unstable, and approaching the brink of civil war. So there's no coherent reply coming out right now.

Ten years it is, then.

From: Oman
To: Egypt

Sure.

OOC: Das, the Tsardom of Galicia cries out for guidance! ;)

I just noticed something, why is Ancestor Worship well seperate from everything else? Since Confucianists and Taoists both still practice ancestor worship  Clarification oh mightly polar bear one?

Well, I wrote the stats. Just wanted to include generic ancestor worship, since there are still a significant portion of rural Chinese that simply worship their ancestors, separate from Confucianism.

I am guessing same situation for my diplo to, whats the division between?

TO: The Tsardom of Galicia
FROM: The Byzantine Empire

Galicia and the Empire have a longstanding tradition of good relations, for indeed, it was both of our peoples which saved western civilization from eastern incursion. We propose an alliance between our two states to further ensure the protection of our civilization and of our faith.

TO: The Muwahhidun Empire of Egypt
FROM: The Byzantine Empire

Do take note that we are watching your attempts at securing alliances with every nation near yourself, and every nation near the Byzantine Empire. It does not bode well for our relations, relations which are already at lows due to your government's irresponsibility towards its own people and towards the nations around it. The Egyptian Empire has had a history of violence and conquest, do not think that it can repeat that history without destroying itself.

TO: The Kingdom of Aragon
FROM: The Byzantine Empire

We hope that Aragon can resolve its political situation peacefully so that there can be stability in the western mediterranean, and in Italy.

TO: The States of Italy
FROM: The Byzantine Empire

Let it be known that the Byzantine Empire does not wish to further impress its influence upon the Italian peninsula, but also let it be known that should our possesions come under threat, then we shall react harshly. We propose pacts of Non-Aggression lasting 3 years to each of you.

OOC: Does anyone know where the full Canute timeline is? Not the summary on thlayli's front page. The full timeline and a link please. I've spent the last half hour looking for it

OOC: Das, the Tsardom of Galicia cries out for guidance!

Let it cry; I still won't join. ;) But if this does kick off well and I find time, then I might drop in at a later point.

Build a time machine and go check the future, maybe I'll actually bother writing it one day - not likely, though. ;) I only did the map, wrote the nation descriptions and argued with Israelite some, mostly about Ireland.

EDIT: Some stuff about the stats: firstly, both you and I had apparently forgotten Hadramaut (the nation Iggy wants for some silly reason; its utterly obscure, that's why I forgot it), and secondly, about the religion note:
Within officially Roman Catholic lands in Germany and elsewhere, there is also considerable autonomy for sub-sects within the Church. With that said, feel free to continue burning heretics.

Its not quite so. The heretics indeed continue to be burned, and the SECTS are not tolerated; its just that most nations have more autonomous churches now, which means that the heretics are more often burned by the orders of a local archbishop instead, no doubt much to their relief.

Hadramaut is Oman then?

No, Oman is Persian, Hadramaut is Hadramaut. ;)

And argued with north king whether China could colonize the americas :p I found it quite amusing as I was looking around. I guess this explains how I couldn't find it :(

Hadramaut is in Yemen then?

NEIN!!! *exasporated* Hadramaut is neither, and yet is both. Though neither Yemen nor Oman, it is in between the two, and unlike them, exists. Think of Yemen and Oman as abstractions in a dualist system, with Hadramaut as the reality.

Only that is utterly irrelevant; in OTL terms, Hadramaut occupies territories of both modern Oman and Yemen, or, rather, in OTL Oman and Yemen had partitioned Hadramaut.

Verily, those who laugh at the debates of the Great Ones are doomed to wander the forum, forever unable to find the Canute Timeline.
