TNESI: The Glorious Mysteries

I have orders from Provence, Norse, Leon, Sweden, Austria, Yuan China, Aquitaine, Min China, Byzantium, Bavaria, Genoa, and Egypt. You have 3 hours, technically. And after that I'll accept them, until the end of Friday,

Cuivienen, the answer is yes, on both counts.

EDIT: I have the Golden Horde and Tuscany, now.

The vizier entered the throne room hesitantly. It was dark, lit only by candles in the corners of the room. The Sultan himself sat high on his throne upon the central dais. The Sultan was often known for sitting alone in the room till the latest hours of the night, and this night was no exception. The vizier did not draw his attention until he spoke.

“Your magnificence, there is a man here to see you, though it was so late I thought almost not to disturb you. He says that he has most urgent news. I recognize him, my lord, and he is one of the many merchants who took up your call to settle the coasts of Africa. Why he has returned, I do not know, but I was convinced by his urgency to come to you and—”

“That is enough,” the Sultan said, raising his hand. “Do not bore me with your prattling. I trust you that this matter is important, but I would hear it from his lips. Bring him in.”

“Yes, your magnificence.” The vizier bowed out of the darkened room.

A few minutes passed before the door opened once more, this time with the small and scrawny vizier leading a large and robust—but more large than robust—man behind him. The vizier seemed merely nervous, but the merchant had a sense of urgency about him.

The vizier came before the sultan, knelt and rose, and said simply, “I take my leave.”

The Sultan and the merchant were left alone.

“What news have you for Zanzibar that awakens me at such a late hour?” The Sultan boomed.

“If what your vizier says is true, you have not be awakened, your magnificence, but this is of little matter.” Here the merchant paused before continuing. “You may recall, my lord, that I was one of many who knelt before you, months past, and pledged to spread the word of Muhammad and the might of Zanzibar far down the coasts of Africa. I set forth not long after this for new territories. Our ships, however, were not as lucky as those of some merchants, … yes, your magnificence?”

The Sultan had raised his hand in a command for the merchant to stop. “Urgent news is not a need for recompense for lost ships, dear merchant. If you have failed, then you owe the Sultanate, not the reverse.”

“Oh, no, your magnificence,” the merchant replied rapidly and conciliatorily, “I lost many ships, but I bring other news. To speak plainly, your magnificence, I have found the end of the world[1]. And there, I have found Christians[2].”

[1]OTL Cape of Good Hope.
[2]Genovese settlers.

Orders will be sent within the hour.

@Cuiv; Oh Snap :)! I think the Genoese explorers will reach the southern lands of Zanzibar before you reach Città del Capo, your a bigger target after all (also the winds are more favourable) ;)...

We're pretty laid back christains anyway ;).

Well, Zanzibar especially isn't very good at telling Christians apart. We don't have many dealings with Christians, or at least haven't in the past.

And maybe you will reach Zanzibar first, but I couldn't act on the assumption that the Genovese would reach me, now could I?

Edit: Orders sent.

Orders sent, sorry about the tardiness.

As you read this i am typing orders

To: World
From: Sultanate of Zanzibar, Gilanid Shahdom of Persia

Persia and Zanzibar hereby issue a joint announcement declaring war on the vile Druze for their assassination of the recently wedded royal couple.

OOC: Given that the Persians are attacking the Druze, too, and for partially the same reason, I assume that this is okay.

Also, Wubba, the Sultan doesn't care to hear from you whether you were behind it or not. He hates you anyway.

The Emperor sat in his palace smoking a cigar. The smoke trickling up his face. He smiled as the paper before had the declaration of war. He had the Persian and Zanzibar ambassadors before them. He chuckled.

Outside the two cowering men could here the slashing of blade against bone. The harsh screams of the infidel.

"So your nations want war?"

The Persian man lay quiet, the emperor pointed to the man cloaked. The Medjai warrior grabbed the man from the hair. The man screamed. But he refused to speak. Pulling out his blade the man's scalp was cut clean off. The man no lay bleed on the ground.

The Emperor smiled. "Have his body brought to the border, and have his body placed on the border. He shall be a symbol of what they will face if anyman steps over the border. Now for the Zanzibar man."

The King stepped off his throne. Staring the man in the face. "You know it is a disapointment that we are accused for the act of your princess to be's murder. Such an elaborate scheme. I wish I had come up with it. It was so brilliant, but you seem so stupid, you can't even protect your rulers offspring.

They lie on carcasses bloodied and disabled. You are nothing to them. You will no doubt fall in your efforts. The answer to your problems lie with India no doubt. Or perhaps Adal. Your common enemy. They will no doubt rise up and face you. Have no doubt about it. The deserts of Arabia, the Indian Ocean, and the Euphrates will all run red with blood. You can fight and believe all you want. Think what you want, but the Druze are mightier.

You will fall, and I will win." Unsheathing his own sword he cut at the man's throat. As he lay spazzing on the ground, the Emperor walked away.

"Make sure he doesn't stain the carpeting. Also send his head as a preview to the King in Zanzibar. Otherwise do as you wish."

The King came out to the entrance of his Palace where he had summoned a crowd. The Medjai stood around as other patroled the audience, pulling men aside and searching them.

"My people, you may have differences and you may have doubts, but our nation is threatened. But we will face the darkness and we shall not cower. Our nation has been conquered before, but we now have proven our will and strength against the Byzantines. No matter the amount we can win. We will dominate, for they stand no chance. They may do what they wish and we will take their anger.

We do not do these things because they are easy, we do these things because they are hard. Will you stand on the plains of Egypt and defend your freedom. Will you demand respect will you stand waiting for your freedom to be handed to you. Or will you stand up and take it from these foreigners these aliens. These enemies of our lord. They are sinners they belong not on Holy ground. Will you fight or will you die. Will you stand beside me or will you stand down.

Be brave men, do not be afraid, do not cower before the darkness, for we will overcome it. We fight as one, we will die as one, we will cry as one, and we will win glory and victory of the empire as one free and great nation. "

Not being rude or anything, but how will you back up your words? With military action?

Hehe, people have made enough vague statements in their orders for this to be a very interesting turn. For the record, I enjoy that kind of thing...but you might not. ;)

From: The Caliphate of Persia
To: Muwahhidun Empire of Egypt

In fact, we had no intention to attack you, despite what Zanzibar has stated in their proclamation. But in your idiocy and rage you slaughtered our ambassador. How typical of inferior beings such as yourselves. Now your blood will turn the Egyptian sands red.

From: The Sultanate of Hadramut
To: The Muwahhidun Empire of Egypt

With regret, we announce the commencement of hostilities between our nations.

From: The Sultanate of Adal
To: The Muwahhidun Empire of Egypt

You assume far too much, heretic dogs.

From: The Papal States
To: The Majardid Caliphate of Andalusia

This is an outrage! You disgusting pagan infidels will pay for such tyranny!

From: The Papal States
To: The Catholic League
CC: The Nations of Catholic Europe

All loyal Christians must now unite to exterminate the menace of Andalusia. These Moorish pigs have sat upon rightful Christian land for FAR too long. And now they seek to close the lifeline of trade from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic, and gain Muslim hegemony across the globe! We insist that war be declared on Andalusia, or excommunication will follow for the recalcitrant kings. At the least, they must be forced to withdraw their pathetic Edict.

From: Vijayanagara
To: Zanzibar

Indeed, we declare war on you.

From: Holy Austrian Empire
To: Andalusia

Your edict only ensures that conflict will continue in the Mediterranean. Either withdraw it or broaden the number of countries allowed through (to include Austria as well). You can not hold half of Europe hostage with this piece of paper.

To Andalusia
From Tuscany

We do not want any of our people hurt, whether they are traders or warriors upon our ships. We will make sure our people remain safe; and we will seek justice for any loss of life of our people.

To: Bahmani Sultanate
From: Sultanate of Zanzibar

We ask for your aid, our allies, against the aggressive Vijayanagarans who are clearly exploiting the situation to the disadvantage of Muslims everywhere.

I'm glad I defended Malabar.

IC: Request granted.

From: Vijayanagara

We still do not trust you...entirely. But if you truly believe in the equality of Hindus and Muslims, now is as great a time as any to prove your belief. Declare war on the Bahmani Sultanate and Zanzibar...or it will go ill for us all.

OOC: You still have several hours to send orders, Israelite and Birdjaguar. And anyone else I forgot. You might regret not sending them quite a bit.

OOC: Birdjaguar is at a funeral of a relative :( Says so in the vacation thread thlayli

And I must say, all this infighting in the Indian Ocean will only leave you ever so weakened for the coming Europeans :mischief: That's all OOC of course ;)
