46. Watched people playing Civ 1 back in the early '90s, but didn't own
a PC back then (Mac only). Got Civ2 in the discount bin in 2003, Civ3 a year
later.

My kids play a little, but like watching me play. Except when I'm doing
the 23:30 - 01:00 stretch, after they've gone to bed. Since I missed out
on the whole "first person shooter" revolution (Wolfenstein 3D -> Doom ->
Quake and on and on) my reflexes are just not good enough for
that genre. Turn-based-strategy is great....I can think about plans
for invasions on the drive home from work; the AI is turned off  :D

Well I'm 15 and I love it!

P.S. my little brother (5) makes me let him play to lol.

I try but hes still on chiefton and refuses to attack with archers he likes spearmen better lol but me him my other brother and my dad are doing pretty well co-oping on deity.

I think I should feel sorry for your mom, right?

BTW, I probably said it before, I'm 17.

I just turned 50, happy birthday to me.

23 here, student
and fighting between civilization and some work/learning for exams and university stuff is much more difficult than any game itself...

Just kinda wondering what age groups live in the CIV III realm. My wife says I'm too old to play. ( 38+ )
You're never too old to do what you feel like in your free time. Tell your wife that.

 I love these responses! :D

I get on the civfanatics chat, and all these kids are saying "You're *how* old?! You're older than my parents!" At another site I even refer to myself as the "site old-fart", because it seems I am nearly, if not *the* oldest member there.

I've been playing Civ since I discovered it about 1997. Ages ago I played "Hammurabi" on a mainframe - the game that was at the root of both Civ-type games and Sim-City.

I think I agree that we "elders" have more staying power, generally, than some of the young sprouts. We aren't always looking for the glitzy "next thing". We've found a game we like, and we stick with it. :)

Eclectic99, my hat is off to you, sir. I hope I am still playing and having this much fun when I am your age,

Oh, BTW. I'm a "mere" 48. ;)

Ouch. That means that by now, you have broken the big 5-0!

I am a mere 16.

its only three years old lol

anyway 16 here, been playing since roughly 10-11 though

I can't believe that 64 people voted the last option and they make 1.85% of the total votes! I think I've never saw a poll with so many voters before.

Yeah, it has almost twice as many votes than the "Which decade has the most Civfanatics?" thread. It's an old one, after all.

30.

I'd like to point out that in this case the distribution of civ players is a Gaussian distribution (normal distribution).
No surprise.
