TOS V4 Beta PBEM2 - Bougainville

Week 18, 1942
The slugging match in the Pacific continues, who will run out of
ships first?

Coral Sea, one tile south of Rabaul:
BB Nagato sunk by dive bombers.
DD Hayashio sunk by CL Detroit
one more DD, (not sure of the name) sunk by PT boat.
Rabaul bombed by B-17s, I missed the result so I can't
tell you if anything was damaged.

Parachute brigade lands on Bougainville and secures VP location.

Just east of Kwajalein:
Dive bombers damage CA Tone.
DD Mutsuki sunk by CL Concord.
Unnamed IJN DD sunk by DD Cassin

West of Timor:
DD John D Ford sinks a fast transport

No Loses

Well...Good results Eric! The one thing I had hoped for was that the Nagato would survive to make it to port. But alas to no avail!
I'm a little surprised you elected to stay and fight your remaining forces at Kwajalein...that can only mean you had reinforcements arrive or about too....Hmmm. This may be like poker..where the chips increase with each hand...And I'm worried about what Cloner has up his sleeve...We'll see how the next turn shakes out after Cloner's next move! The war tempo has really picked up...that's for sure!
Sully

I guess the reason why Cloner is taking his time is to be able to move that 15 ship battle fleet of his into position near Kwajalein to annihilate my poor remaining forces.
Sully

Speaking of which..have you thought about changes you'd like to make since you've been playing some TOS4 games?
I'm still hung up on the CL thing! Would like to see movement of capital ships decreased by one across the board. And still like the idea of adding a cheap PBY unit. Otherwise this is great. I'm going to see if I can start a new game and will post it later today. Is there anyone you know who's wanting to play? Sully

Intense bombardment across the theatre, the Airfield North of Mandalay was hit hard again, but the Inf. Corp Retreated to save itself. Meanwhile The Imperail Army was bombed near Port Moresby. Nothing else happened.

The suggestion I have is that CW Navy is way too weak it may be that I am too stupid and got my ships killed but compare to other the other nation it is significantly weaker. Also the cities on Austria are few and not all are very productive and Canada is virtually useless becaue of corruption. THat's for British opinion

Cloner:
Canada was not able to contribute much to the Pacific war until the very end
because it committed everything to Europe, so it's exactly the way it should
be. Your best options in Canada are to build some parachute brigades and
wealth.

Australia was thinly populated and not very industrialized in the 1940s and
was heavily dependant on the USA for support.

The key to the CW Navy is not to loose all your ships before you can
join them all into one large force.

Japanese Imperial HQ: Japan's Armed Forces prepare for the final push against the Allied Forces in Mainland China. Combat actions continue in Burma, Java, New Guinea, the Solomen Islands and in the Central Pacific. The major naval battle between US and IJN naval forces results in the US in control of the Kwajalein Islands.
Newly arrived air units at Rabual continue sorties against CW and US ships near Rabual, Gualdacanal, and land based units in Port Moresby.

You always seem to have great air attacks without losses! I might as well tear off the props and make it even easier for your bombers???

Sully

Com'on Cloner...come and get'em!!!
Thought we might get a whole turn done yesterday the way things were moving. Its just more exciting to play a fast placed game then a slow one like the Great War.
Sully

Eric, Before I forget...Happy Canada Day!
And though many Cnadians think us jerks..well we do have a jerk for a President....on behalf of average Americans....we appreciate the Citizens of Canada and your friendship!

Sully

PS. I will get to the turn tomorrow and should send it north in the evening.
