Could have looked far FAR worse. The CGI is very high quality, but still very game-like. The plot seems more worrying, though (some good orcs side with humans against the bad orcs).

I saw this trailer on Youtube earlier today. Ehhh.... trailers can lie. It looked pretty good from the trailer but there hasn't been a movie yet that I can think of based on a game license that didn't suck, so skepticism remains the order of the day.
This movie would have surely been way better if it was about Arthas.

If the movie is anything like the game, the story is going to be disjointed, contradictory, and incomplete.
I wonder why they decided to do a live action film rather than an animated one. It is based on a video game after all and they (Blizzard) make awesome looking cinematic trailers for their games.

cus only fanbois and kids will go see an animated one. Live action (heavily cgi but still people's faces) has broader appeal cus they can brand it as an action movie not just a video game movie. Maybe attract some lord of the rings and star wars fans.
It looks very confusing. Where are the demons? I thought manneroth was the one who enslaved the orcs and lead them through the portal to azeroth to conquer it. I'm off on the storylines but it looks like all this happens before any of the games.

I never played the first two games so I don't know if this is matching the lore from those or what, but it's probably a more or less original story loosely based on the lore from the games, I wouldn't expect any kind of accurate rendition.

All I can really say is that outside of a few top companies animation really doesn't get any mainstream respect in the west. I suspect it was a purely financial consideration.

From my perspective the movie makes the same fundamental mistake that WoW has done for the last several expansions. It is retelling the same stories that the Warcraft universe has already told several times.
There is absolutely no reason for me to see that movie, just as there is no reason for me to play WoW at the moment. Repeating the same old stuff over and over will make it impossible to enjoy.

This plot-line appears after Warcraft1 and 2, and yet from the trailer it is clear this is a first encounter of orcs by humans. From comments on other sites it seems likely this won't end with the 'human onslaught' the first WC was about, and many supporters of the franchise are less than enthused about the later plot of good orcs joining forces with humans

Please. You think THIS is where Blizzard is jumping the shark? Their lore has been a mess since at LEAST Cataclysm and probably before that. Considering they can't even manage to keep things straight in the one and only Warcraft game that's come out in the last decade, I would definitely advise against raising hopes too much for this movie.

Oh right, I forgot about Hearthstone (easy to do since it's boring). I don't think that counts though, it doesn't have lore to speak of, it doesn't advance the plot of the series at all. I'm talking about the storyline games and Hearthstone doesn't add to the storyline.
