Troubleshooting and F.A.Q.

Playing the mod, I encountered two issues.

First: it seems that there are missing text lines for diplomacy, when I refuse to give a tribute to another civ. See this pic.

Thanks for the report. Found the problem, will be fixed in 1.23.

Second: my game came to an end because everything got stuck at a certain turn at "waiting for the other civilizations". I can use the interface but it seems that my next turn never comes. I'm attaching the savegame (zipped): just end the turn and this event should trigger.

From the FAQ in this thread:

There is a nasty bug that can cause a unit to get stuck in an endless cycle of joining/leaving a unit group. This can happen to any type of unit but it seems to be more common with Naval units, especially those with hidden nationality, or those with cargo passing through other units with cargo. This bug is present in unmodded BTS and unfortunately it cannot be completely eliminated. However, I've implemented a method to force a stuck AI player to stop moving its units: Press 'Ctrl-C' to trigger this (can be 'CMD-C' on OS X, depending on your settings).

Thank oyu Xyth! My game can now go on, I just have to press Ctrl-C every turn. :)

Every turn? That's not good. Usually once or twice will remove the problem. Must be one incredibly stuck unit.

Yes, I went on like this for many turns, but after one civ declared war to me, the problem apparently was solved. Until now.
Now even Ctrl-C doesn't do anything. I don't get any message in the log when I press the keys, either.
I'm attaching again the save. The issue should occur after ending the turn.

Tried the save game and it happens for me also, just as you describe. I'll see if I can figure out what's going on, but I suspect this one is beyond my capabilities to fix. You'll have to start a new game I'm afraid.

Just delete the culprit?

Can't. Keypresses and clicks are being detected, but the break script isn't triggering and the WB won't open. Never seen this before, usually you're still able to use the UI when this happens.

Just started a game on the standard-size Earth map as Topitzlin, and both my settler and scout spawned here.

ETA: Also in the same game there is a marble resource on top of a mountain close to where the US-Canada border would be. Don't know if that is a feature of this game or the map in general.

ETA 2: Just started a random map & found a forest on top of a mountain. Weird.

Delete it few turns before when he was still able to activate the break every turn.

Whoops, will fix.

None of the maps are made by, though I have modified and tweaked some of them a bit. I'll get rid of that Marble.

I've no idea what causes this. I've even built a check into map generation that specifically looks for forested mountains and clears them, yet one still appears every now and then.

The main thread talks about faith generation and reformation. I just played up to my second great prophet; both were generated by GPP, and I didn't see any mentions of faith, reformation or tenets.

A crash bug with Victoria Falls happened again. I've gathered autosaves and crash log, will zip and send. Do you have an email address I could send it to?

Between the +100% great people you mentioned yesterday and this, it sounds like you're still running an older version of HR. If there isn't a faith bar or Tenets advisor button on the main screen then it's not 1.22. I checked the version I uploaded for you, and it's definitely the right one. Make sure that you don't have 2 versions of HR installed.

Also on the standard earth map, I started as Indonesia and spawned in the water.

Fixed, thanks. That map isn't played much so mistakes like that are more likely on it than on the larger Earth maps. Let me know if you spot any more.

Sorted out my issues with loading the wrong version :)

After an hour or two of play, I seem to have lost combat FX. No victory trumpet or death whine.

That's a bug in BTS. Mac version in particular has audio memory leaks all over the place. Nothing I can do about it unfortunately.

I built Hagia Sophia (playing as Scipio) and captured a Celtic city with a Dun already built - but now I can't build a Castle there because it's looking for a Walls as the prerequisite.

Known issue. On my todo list for 1.23.

Couple of apparent bugs.

Mitanni can build a Water Well, despite being on a river. It is a culture flipped Barbarian city.

Athenai cannot build a Galley, despite being on a body of water defined as Coast that has enabled Baalbek to build what looks to me like a Cothon.

Really wanted to get some Workers shipped across the water to connect the Iron -.-
