True Legacy Nes: Alternative Cold War

To: Canada, Republic of China, People's Republic of China
From: Japan

Here are our highly recommended terms for peace:

1. The People's Republic of China return any land seized in the war to the Republic of China.
2. The Republic of China agrees to demilitarize her border with the People's Republic and cut her standing army by 30%.
3. The Republic of China pays 7 IC in reparations to the People's Republic.
4. The People's Republic of China and the Republic of China sign a 15-year pact of non-aggression to be enforced at the discretion of Japan and Canada and to be renewed 10 years from its inception at the consent of all involved parties.

We believe this to be fair.

Very well, Brazil has offered peace, and has heard nothing but a blatent no. If that is the way Argentina wished to view the war, then that is the way we shall view it.

Argentina will not cede any land to greedy tyrants who claim to be spreading peace and stability. South America is not Brazil's playground to do as it pleases.

And that changes our statement none the least. You have stated that "For every Argentinian killed in this war Brazil will pay". Hardly an offer of peace to us. Sounds more like you will fight to the end or die trying. Because one thing is clear, Brazil will NOT return to status Quo. Doing so would be just silly, and leave our image completely ruined, pathetic warmongers, unable to carry out threats and ations. And that shall not be so. So our you willing to extend the olive branch, or make Brazil pay?

War or Peace

President Janio Quadros was in a foul mood. It just wasn’t fair. With the election looming he should be far ahead, seeing as he had led Brazil straightforward into success. He had liberated Venezuela, he had Argentina on the ropes (And hadn’t the sense to accept his peace proposal or even negotiate. The powers of the world had threatened orchestration, but very little concrete actions. But the international backlash was threatening his easy win. If only South America had stayed that unimportant section of the world, hardly noticeable, what happened in South America stayed in South America. Like Greater Peru for instance, or his own annexation (He admitted it was exactly that, if only to himself) of Venezuela. It just wasn’t fair. Four months and seven days, he had that long to swing the people back. It would require cleaning up the Argentinean problem. Certainly if he didn’t at least make progress his opponent, Tyrn Lorthincan, would certainly would take the election. His own party would likely remove him from leadership in favour of Juan Zevelas. He had nothing against Zevelas as Quadros estimated he would be the perfect person for integrating his conquests. But it was hard to do that when his own conquests was limited. Four months and seven days, and Brazil would choose to remember him as hero, or warmonger.

Important Parts of the Democratic Platform

-Janio Quadros as leader
-Favours continuing Argentinean Liberation War, Unclear Goals afterwards
-Closer relations with democratic countries in the world, particularly United States (that’s going well ), Columbia, Democratic Britain.
-Hawk Lobby
-Keeping and Developing Venezuela
-Economic Development

Important Parts of the Republican Platform

-Tyrn Lorthican as leader
-Favours Ending Argentinean Liberation War (But with terms favouring Brazil), Internal growth afterwards
-Isolationistic with the world outside South America, beyond trade Pacts and -(assuming Quadros hasn’t Ruined it, ADTO)
-Dove Lobby
-Keeping and Developing Venezuela
-Economical Development

OOC: For elections, is it up to the all wonderful GM, or is it up to the player?

To: Brazil
From: Argentina

We are more than willing to discuss peace however Brazilian terms are not acceptable in any way. It was Brazil who instigated this unjust war against the Spanish speaking nations of South America. For peace between our nations compensation will be required to Argentina. Brazil will not gain any land for Argentina and Argentina's government will not be forced to change. The people of Argentina have chosen this government for a reason. We have done nothing to deserve this war. If this is not acceptable then Brazil will be fought to the bitter end.

From Brazil:

Mmmm, last time I checked we were winning this war. Any demand for Brazil to give compesation will be laughed at and utterly disregarded. Discuss this reasonably and we will give thought to peace, and let it be known that we are willing to negotiate. (OOC: Do you have MSN or anything Justo? It would make this all much eaiser)

PS: You could be African-Chinese, or German, or American for all we care. Doesn't change how we will negotiate with you.

So far it may seem that you are winning this war however now that the element of suprise has been lost Brazilian forces will have to fight on even footing. Brazil has also isolated itself with its constant conquests. There are many ways to achieve victory.

OOC: I have aim: Justones1987 (I think) msn and gtalk will need to be sent by PM if required.

Edit: also I'm at work at the moment so can't access these for now.

Germany supports Argentina against this unprovoked attack. Brazil should return to pre-war borders to prevent more open support from Germany to Argentina.

IL DUCE HOSPITALIZED

The glorious leader of our great Italian Empire has been rushed to hospital after suffering a heart attack whilst dining with his wife at Greco Resturant di Delfi in Napoli. Doctors at Ospedale di Napoli say Signor Mussolini is in stable condition and is currently ordered to bed rest for the next few days. During his hospitalization, an emergency meeting was held in Mussolini's room, in which several top ranking generals, Mussolini's ministers, and other important government officials attended. The topic, a successor. Mussolini's recent health conditions have brought up the question of who will lead the Empire after his death or resignation. After several hours of conversation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Minister of Press and Propaganda, Gian Galeazzo Ciano, was chosen as the future Duce. Ciano, besides being a politician, veteran and fascist strongman, is Mussolini's son-in-law and confidant. Ciano has accepted the nomination and has made a vow to continue to strengthen the Empire after he is in power.

Our condolences on the hospitalization of Signor Mussolini. He was a great man. We wish the best of luck to his successor in the hopes that he will be able to continue on il Duce's tradition of greatness.

We are saddened to hear of Mussolini's hospitalization. We hope he is returned to full health shortly.

To Great Britain

After some confusion over the civil war, we are greatly saddened by the leave of fascists from the government, but will hope to continue a prosperous relationship with Great Britain in the future. However, this does pose a problem. As you know, some volunteer forces that were sent to quell the unrest in Britain prior to the civil war have been swept away by the fascists in Scotland. We are trying to retrieve them, but its a problematic situation. Thus, we propose the following:

1) Britain will be allowed to search our transport vessels for contraband (ie War materials) and once finished, be allowed to retrieve our citizens. We reserve the right to keep personal firearms. (Merchant vessels still carry some sort of protection, you know)
2) Once we gather our citizens, to avoid cases of mistaken identity and problematic procedures, we wish for our vessels to return to France without any searches. (Because the only problem would be giving supplies to Scotland, not withdrawing civilians)
3) We would like permission for our own navy to protect our vessels once we reach Scotland's coastline, but it will only be a small force of destroyers. We will allow Britain to search these destroyers as well, but again, we reserve the right to keep armaments that are crucial to self defense. (In this case, naval shells and anti-aircraft equipment)

Is this agreeable to you?

We wish Signor Mussolini well and hope he has a quick and full recovery. We also wish that friendly relations between our two nations be maintained.

While formal relations are cut, we also issue a warning to Brazil:

Any attacks on French trading vessels steering towards South America will not be tolerated. (Remember, I'm trading with Peru, Chile, and Argentina)

The fascists haven't been expelled from the government: they left on their own volition when Prime Minister Davis unveiled his plans for the restoration of true democracy. Had they stayed loyal to the government, they would have had a chance to actually participate in the democratic system, but this rebellion has ruined their chances to do so. All the members of the British Union of Fascists that haven't joined the rebels are currently under house arrest so that they are both protected from any that may wish to attack them and to make sure that they do not launch subversive acts, and once the rebellion is put down they will be freed to do as they wish, provided that they respect the laws of the United Kingdom Constitution.

As for your proposal, it is perfectly acceptable. However, there are a couple of conditions we would like to establish a few extra conditions:
1. The sailors of the ships travelling to Scotland do not hinder the Royal Navy's searches (we know it is a given, but we just want to make sure).
2. When the volunteers leave Scotland, they will take with them all the weapons they brought with them, as well as the supplies that they haven't spent. The ships will be allowed to leave without a problem.
3. If any of those volunteers has committed any crime (i.e. rape, robbery, etc) they will be turned over to English authorities and punished, but he may be allowed to serve his sentence in France if the crime isn't grave.
4. The destroyers will be allowed to protect the merchant ships, but once they arrive to a port, no one will be allowed to come out of it unless given proper clearance.

We also ask you that you retire your acknowledgment of the rebels in Scotland as the legal government of the United Kingdom.

We hope for a continuous cordial relationship between the United Kingdom and France.

I am bored. I will be Peru. Let us see how much I can mess South America up.

Well I think your just slightly too late;). South America is already under international spotlight.

Edit:

If Argentina wishes to negotiate then let us negotiate! So far all Brazil has heard is a refusal to talk unless Brazil is the one giving reperations, which quite frankly isn't going to happen.

From The Third Reich

Gee they responded with you will get no land from your aggression, i.e. return to pre-war borders and you call that no response. What Brazil means is that Argentina will not give us what we want so we stuck our fingers in our ears and thus Argentina has not responded cause we didn't hear.

If you do not cease this action then surprisingly Germany and the USA will have common ground. Germany will intercede soon if Argentina requests it and Brazil presses this unprovoked assault.
