True Legacy Nes: Alternative Cold War

From Germany
To Democratic Britain

We are disappointed in the General, we were told by messenger that the Democrats had staged a coup to oust a rightfully elected government. This is not so. We are saddened by the resulting rebellion, however if you wish Germany to remain out of this we expect you to not seek American support. Germany will supply you with what you need provided you agree to allow for a pardon among the lower ranks. We do understand that the General and his advisors will get the fate they rightly deserve.

We would also ask that is if you will allow it Germany will accept any refugees who wish to escape the fighting until such time as the rebellion is removed.

From United Kingdom
To Germany

We are glad that you have realized the rebels were in the wrong. However, the only thing we ask from you is that you just don't provide supplies for the rebels. All those soldiers in the lower echelons of the rebel army will get a pardon from the crime of rebellion, but not of any other crime that they may have committed between the start and the end of the rebellion.

We don't know why we can't seek support from the United States, when they were the only ones to actually offer help when you and France were so willing to support the rebels before even knowing the true chain of events that brought us into this situation. As we are a sovereign and independent nation, we have the right to seek support from wherever we wish to.

As for any possible refugees, they are more likely to run away to either Ireland or France, as they are nearer than Germany. However, any that may prefer to go to Germany to escape the fighting may do so.

The USA question is simple. We would prefer they stay out of European affairs just like we will stay out of North American affairs. And as we have discovered the falsehood perpetrated by the General to us, we are willing to supply you with military supplies if you need them. Non-military support from outside Europe would be no issue with us.

Just as you would sell supplies to, for example, Argentina to defend themselves from Brazil, I don't think there should be much problem with the United States selling us military supplies. Your offer to help us is welcome, though.

First who said selling? Germany is willing to give you some military equipment within reason in return for simple goodwill.

Ahh yes, we have stuck our fingers in our hear because we didn't hear what wanted too. What, were we supposed to hear this?

Your actions will not go unpunished. For every Argentinian killed in this war Brazil will pay.

Or this maybe?

To: Brazil
From: Argentina

For peace between our nations compensation will be required to Argentina.

Now it seems to us, that Argentina wants the war to go on. Refusing peace, unless Brazil gives compensation? And I'm quite sure they knew what the response would be, a resounding, NO. So show we where ARgentina has made a reasonable peace offer Germany, show us what we missed when we stuck our fingers in our ears. Here I'll even give a new peace offer.

Brazil will cede all lands gained from Argentina back

Argintina will provide Brazil 8 Economies in Tribute over the next 5 years to replace Brazilian exuipment and lives lost in the war.

Argentina, Brazil, Greater Peru, Chile and Columbia will sign a five year Non- Agression pact to ensure stability in South America.

Seems fair, no?

Danes support for merging with Germany
By Norbert Barall, Copenhagen

As I wander the streets of Copenhagen I see the signs that the people really are ready and willing to fully join the German Reich. In shop windows is a fair mix of German, Danish, and French goods, down the road people converse using both Danish and German, and in some store windows hang both the Danish flag and the German Reich flag. All of these signs have me convinced that the poll results last month showing that 59% of Danes support joining the German Reich officially while 34% oppose, and 7% are indifferent is correct. The people of Denmark have already gained most of the rights as Germans, the ability to travel without papers between the borders for example, and most are beginning to see themselves as Germans of Danish decent. This is especially prevalent among the younger generation. This up and coming members of Danish and German society view it as the natural progression in these…(continued page 4A)

Report on British Rebellion Falsified
By Hartmut Giesen, Berlin

It has been reported by an unnamed source in the office of the Reichschancellor that the initial reports received from Britain indicated the Democrats rebelled against the British government were based on falsified documents delivered by a Major operating under the rebellious General Sage. The Major in question (I got the name but cannot publish it) has been arrested by the SS on charges of treason. The Major will be extradited to the British authorities once the rebellion is ended so as to remove the possibility of escape for the Major. Our anonymous source in the office of the Reichschancellor is quoted as saying “The Reichschancellor is angry beyond reason that the General would report such lies to Germany and that because of this it is a good thing they agreed to extradite the Major to Britain, where he will simply be executed.” The office of the Reichschancellor’s official statement is said to be forth coming but understandably it is slow…(continued page 5A)

Aftermath of French Trials
By Johannes Ahrens, Paris

The sensational trials of so many dissidents have come to a close. From all accounts and based on the evidence given at the trials I believe it is safe to say that justice has been swift, decisive, and correct. All of these trials had their moments, but especially in my opinion the trials of Maurice Gamelin, who was convicted and sentenced to death, Maurice Thorez, convicted but surprisingly only given a 20 year sentence, and Joseph Paul-Boncour, who was acquitted. The trial of Maurice was especially detailed and in some cases graphic as testimony of witnesses and photos was shown to the court. In the end he was led off his head hanging low despite his reputation as a commander. I expected the trial of Paul-Boncour to result in a conviction, but the surprise testimony and evidence given by…(continued page 7A)

Weather Report
Today it is expected to be a High of 4°C and a Low of 1°C here in glorious Berlin.

From: Great Britain
To: Vichy France

The fascists haven't been expelled from the government: they left on their own volition when Prime Minister Davis unveiled his plans for the restoration of true democracy. Had they stayed loyal to the government, they would have had a chance to actually participate in the democratic system, but this rebellion has ruined their chances to do so. All the members of the British Union of Fascists that haven't joined the rebels are currently under house arrest so that they are both protected from any that may wish to attack them and to make sure that they do not launch subversive acts, and once the rebellion is put down they will be freed to do as they wish, provided that they respect the laws of the United Kingdom Constitution.

As for your proposal, it is perfectly acceptable. However, there are a couple of conditions we would like to establish a few extra conditions:
1. The sailors of the ships travelling to Scotland do not hinder the Royal Navy's searches (we know it is a given, but we just want to make sure).
2. When the volunteers leave Scotland, they will take with them all the weapons they brought with them, as well as the supplies that they haven't spent. The ships will be allowed to leave without a problem.
3. If any of those volunteers has committed any crime (i.e. rape, robbery, etc) they will be turned over to English authorities and punished, but he may be allowed to serve his sentence in France if the crime isn't grave.
4. The destroyers will be allowed to protect the merchant ships, but once they arrive to a port, no one will be allowed to come out of it unless given proper clearance.

We also ask you that you retire your acknowledgment of the rebels in Scotland as the legal government of the United Kingdom.

We hope for a continuous cordial relationship between the United Kingdom and France.

From Vichy France
To Great Britain

We will agree with those terms.

We request you do not sign Brazil's dictations of a cease-fire. As they have shown, they only seek to conquer all of South America, and they only wish for this Non-Aggression Pact so that they can prepare for a new round of conquests.

To Brazil
From Germany

Yes you should as this was an unprovoked war. Brazil invaded Argentina not the other way around. They responded to your rediculous claims that you should keep their land by saying no. They then said you should remove yourself from Argentina and pay reparations.

Germany feels this is a fair demand. The minimum for peace is for Brazil to pull back to prewar borders. Recompense can be determined at a later time.

To Argentina

We will stand by you if Brazil does not remove its forces from your nation in the coming year.

To Peru and Chile

We agree with France's statement regarding Brazil's request.

From the National Republic of Greater Peru
To the Federative Republic of Brazil

Fat chance. The only thing protecting you is ADTO. Once the Yanquis abandon you, Brazil's fragile dream of hegemony turns into a nightmare.

OOC: I feel it's pretty ironic that the USA, which is a democracy, is willing to leave other democracy (Brazil) so that the non-democracies in South America may maul them.

We would like your assurances that you won't be providing help to the rebels, as France has done.

The London Times

Battle of Newcastle resolved
After a vicious battle between the loyalist army and the rebelling forces near the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the government forces triumphed as the rebels retired without organization towards the north. Reports talk of more than 700 dead rebel soldiers, 3,000 captured and 2,000 deserting back to the loyalist forces, while the loyalist army suffered 600 losses and 1,000 injured soldiers,, but so far these numbers haven't been confirmed...

Germany changes gears
After the Chancellor of the Reich's office made known that the reports he had received from the rebels (who claimed that Prime Minister Davis had mounted a coup d'etat, despite the fact that he was legally chosen) were false, the Chancellor retracted his country's recognition of the legality of General Sage's government and promised to extradite the unknown Major that took said reports to Germany. Also, Germany has compromised to send help to the English loyalist army in the form of military supplies which will be probably needed in future offensives...

Blockade of Scotland continues
Despite attempts from the rebel navies to break it, the blockade imposed by the English on Scotland is still working, preventing military supplies from foreign nations from reaching them. The only ships that have reached the zone lately are the French ships that are repatriating the volunteer forces sent to help the police keep order in the United Kingdom, and that only after exhaustive searches to prevent the rebels from receiving supplies...

As we have said we will not support Gereral Sage.

The only thing we would like is that lower rank and file (E-3 and down) and lower officers (O-2 and down) do not face charges if they surrender unless they have commited specific crimes. We believe many have simply been mislead by their superiors and deserve the chance to walk away from the conflict.

Of course we understand if you do not offer amnesty to anyone higher than that as they surely understood the full situation. And this would be a one time deal we are not requesting that you offer it to anyone who continues to take up arms after whatever date you choose to set.

And yes Major Thomas Kennicot will be extradited to your custody once this situation is resolved.

To British Rebels

We strongly recommend that you lay down your arms and accept your rightful government.

We are glad of it. As for the pardons, as we have already made public, will be given to any soldier and low officer that decides to change sides, but they will only be given for the crime of sedition and treason. Any charges for other crimes committed during the rebellion will still be applied to them.

From United Kingdom
To Northern Rebels

Any soldier below the range of Sergeant and any officer below the range of Major that decides to come back to the government-loyal army before the next August 1st 1953 may enlist back into the army with a pardon for the crimes of treason and sedition. Any that does it before October 1st 1953 will also be allowed to re-enlist and will also have a pardon, but will be demoted one rank. Any that does it before December 1st will be allowed to re-enlist and will also have a pardon, but will be demoted to private. After December 1st, any soldier that comes back will be discharged with dishonour from the army. Of course, any crimes committed that aren't under the umbrella of the offered pardon will be prosecuted.

We are in agreement then. Good luck in ending this swiftly and with minimal bloodshed.

OOC: Its not like the USA has ever supported dictators before :mischief:

To: Brazil
From: Argentina

Brazil does not seem to understand the concept of unprovoked war. Brazil started this war and Argentina will not reward Brazil for its aggression. A 5 year non-aggression pact may stop Brazil for years but once the time is done it is certain Brazil will return to achieve its goals in this war. If Brazil desires peace this year our terms are below.

Brazil withdraw from all Argentinian lands captured so far.

Brazil pays Argentina 4 EP compensation for damages to the Argentinian military and economy.

If this war continues the terms imposed upon Brazil will only become more severe.

Bah, this is rediculous. As I recall, it was demanded of us that we offer Argentina peace. WE offered peace. Then we were told that keeping Argentinean land was too much. Do we removed our request for that from our peace request. Now we are sneered at and told to pay reparations. I think not. Argentina can accept peace, on our previous requests, and Brazil will sign a permanent non-agression pact with them, Chile, Greater Peru and Columbia, only void unless one member of this pact declares war on another nation. Stability will be regained, and our so called "dictorship" will be stopped. Unless you except us to pick up and go to Africa?

Obviously Brazil needs to be reigned in for violating the nations of Venezuela and then Argentina with no cause. We would suggest we meet to determine the best course of action against them. Yes we do believe that the USA and Germany can see eye to eye in this case.
