Ok, so group discussion has lead to Oxford in Dortmund, and Wall Street in Munich. Unfortunately there are quite a few hammers sunk into Munich already for Oxford. Luckily we are industrious, and have stone, so not THAT many hammers. Anyways, I remove Oxford from the queue and dial up a Grocer. We are already unhealthy here, and we have the additional problem of growing in 2 turns... 30 turns on a grocer. I move from the coast to the land tiles to cut that down to 19 turns, stagnating Munich in the process. No sense burning good food if we can help it.
In addition, we are looking to set this place up for mass cash through Wall St and Merchants, so makes sense to get those buildings up ASAP.
I also note that there are no longer many signs on the map. While this is not too much of a problem, signs for the cities yet to be placed would be useful, as it would stop us having to constantly refer to dotmaps (which are good during discussion, just not so good when actually going to place the cities).
Therefore, I put down signs for Teal Dot, Pink Dot, and the NP City (Green Dot) that was in Tryn's latest dot map. Since Yellow is not coastal, and therefore useless, I use black dot from my previous dotmap. Teal and Black can certainly be discussed, as there is zero rush to get those things moving quickly, but I will move to settle the NP city and Pink Dot (in that order basically).
Ok, with all that out of the way, going to take a look at the cities.
Berlin has a lot of growth left, as it still has a food surplus of 6. Grocer is quickly going up to help the health cap, which is good.
Hamburg is busy putting up Longbows. This one is almost done, but I'd rather not dial more Longbows, as we will soon be getting gunpowder troops, and those are a lot better. We do have to put out something though, as Hannibal has Astro, and Shaka is close to Astro... There is an engineer hired here, and Hamburg only has 1 surplus food, so it will be going through a lot of growth/starvation cycles...
Cologne just finishing a bank. We'll look at it in a bit actually... Probably could've used a grocer first, as we are pushing health caps with 5 surplus food. Since we are not Fin and coasts are relatively sucky, I hire a merchant.
Frankfurt is at the health cap and still growing. Problem. We cannot help it at the moment as it is working on Taj... Well, first taking over the shared mine from Dortmund, and then moving work to a forest from a grass farm to stop growth. Taj in 12.
Essen is working all out water, and again we have a health problem; we are at the caps, and the place is still growing. Luckily, growth is slow due to specs, so have time for the bank to finish and the grocer to finish. Actually am going to stagnant this town, rather than working awful oceans. Also allows us to work the cottage and get it growing!
Just kicked Dortmund off the shared mine. We've got a problem here as we have growth in 18 past the health cap, yet we are working on a bank? Well we have limited options here, as health is paramount. Need an aqueduct, as we don't have one yet and it is faster than the grocer. Also stop growth by swapping to a cottage rather than the grassland farm. We want those cottages growing, especially if we cannot afford to grow the city.
Stuttgart has the dubious distinction of working on perhaps THE worst possible build... We are building a Customs House... with no foreign trade coming to this town... Switch to an aqueduct, as growth is in 2, and we only have 2 more health to go, not to mention happiness...
Dusseldorf is in boomtown mode, and is developing. Therefore, I cannot for the life of me figure out why we are building a bank... This town is set to continue growing, so I dial up a temple, as the happy cap is a bit lower than health.
Bremen also has no foriegn trade routes and is going for a customs house... It is almost done, so I'll let it finish... but again we need basic infrastructure like temples and aqueducts before we go about getting stuff like customs houses...
Hanover just started a knight. Buildings are not pressing here (3 more growths until it hits caps), so we'll let it make knights. They'll make a good fast response force in case some fool decides to land on us.
Duisburg working on a forge and growing next turn. I cannot work any better tiles without slowing growth, so I'll let it grow next turn, but we want to be working that mine...
Ok, so looking at the relations screen, Hannibal hates Pericles. Ostensibly, that is for trading with us, from when we were his "worst enemy". Stupid, I know. But that means we will not want to be dealing with Hannibal too much (anyways, he is our colony target for later). I also note that we seem to be offering Genghis Dyes for no reason. Cancel that...
Well, picking up OB with Ramesses to increase our foriegn trade routes (might as well try to make those customs houses works). No one else opening borders with us though, as they are still pissed. Too bad for them...
I dial science down to 70% for a manageable -6gpt, corporation in 3 turns.
Note that Bueraucracy is costing us a lot of cash, and Berlin is not very good at either making hammers, or commerce...
Anyways... no one is even close to Liberalism yet. We have a mere 4 turns on Sci Meth for an easy pickup of Bio. Actually we need chem for that, and while it's not many turns, if someone is sneaking up on Lib, it'll be a bad idea.
We could also grab Physics, as it is more expensive, and net ourselves a free Great Scientist for our effort too. He will probably bulb something utterly ridiculous, as things are going right now. Actually, the GS due in Munich in 6ish turns (please no more minority GPs...) will bulb Sci Meth, so picking up Physics for free makes me think we'll get something else...
Hopefully I'll not have to make the decision my turn, but Hannibal is teching Education in 3, so expecting him to go after Liberalism hard...
1700AD (250):
We move to positive gold this turn, yay.
Longbow done in Hamburg. All Hamburg really needs is a supermarket, but that's a long way in coming. I dial for a jail, as we don't need pop to use the free espionage points.
Cologne's bank finished, and that's likely what put us in positives. Well, Grocer next, as growth is forthcoming. BTW, I miss being able to use BUG to tell me when cities grow...
1705AD (251):
So yeah... we are not really powerful...
Customs House done in Bremen, and we have foriegn routes going to Egypt here now, so that's fine. I dial a temple, as limiting factor here is happiness, and it'll give us a priest slot to play with...
1710AD (252):
Ha! The idiot Hannibal thinks we will cancel deals with the Greeks. Send him packing...
More cash comes in to the tune of +18gpt. It also looks like Hannibal is heading for Econ first, so we're good for now...
As for techs for us... Gunpowder is ONE turn, and needed for Chem, which is needed for Bio and/or empowering our workshops. Gunpowder wins
Essen is done a Bank, tha'ts nice, an Observatory is next.
Well I woke up and found the sleeping Settler this turn, so moving towards the NP site...
1715AD (253):
Chem in 3.
We get an autospread of Tao to Duisburg, giving us extra cash and saving us a missionary, yay.
A Knight is done in Hanover, sending him to Bremen. Actually dialing a Tao Monastery here, so we can build missionaries for the southern towns, in case of random spread for the wrong religion.
Pericles is getting Banking in 2 turns, so I take his World Map and 80 gold for it. End up picking up + modifiers for fair trade relations, lol.
Shaka now hates Ramesses, so we'll hit him up for OB and play the two fools against each other. That basically finishes up most of our trade routes... and we are now at +46gpt with 70% sci.
1720AD (254):
Shaka's golden age comes to a close and he is teching Civil Service, lol. BTW we have visual on many of his cities now.
Grocer done in Berlin, and Berlin gets on a jail to help out the spy points. Als going to stop growth here, as there is little point in continuing to work the coast, rather hire specs instead.
Tao Temple done in Bremen, dial a stable so we can crank fast units here for response.
1725AD (255):
We pop Marie Curie in Munich this turn.
Heading for Dortmund.
Tao Temple done in Dusseldorf, get back on the Bank, as I realize the banks were for Wall St. Well, Wall St is delayed anyways, as Munich needs to deal with its health problems first.
Tao Monastery done in Hanover, dial a 2 turn missionary for NP city. NP city will have its city centre chopped first for the extra hammers.
I now realize that Dortmund can't even start Oxford because there are hammers put towards it in Munich >.<. Munich ditches a bunch of scientists in order to get max hammers out of the specs to finish that Grocer and get Wall St. up and running.
1730AD (256):
I flip to Replaceable Parts in 3 turns. Still no one teching Lib yet...
Jail done in Hamburg, I dial for a knight.
Stable is done in Bremen. I will bite the bullet and make a 7 turn bank here, as the real commerce cities can't get banks fast enough (especially since we are in caste).
Pericles about to get Compass, so again take his map and 90 gold for it.
1735AD (257):
Ramesses shows up with some ridiculous trade wanting Guilds for Music and a tiny bit of gold. I tell him to take a hike.
Marie Curie settles in Dortmund.
Tao missionary finished in Hanover, get on a jail.
Forge done in Duisburg, dial for a courthouse.
1740AD (258):
A jail finishes in Berlin. We have Confuci here I notice now, so Ramesses is landing missionaries. Yay, less work when we go Free Religion. I dial up a settler in 3 turns for another city (pink dot likely).
1745AD (249):
Pericles shows up and wants to trade World Maps. Well, we don't need to as he loves us already.
I tentatively dial up Steam Power (we would be able to take ASSEMBLY LINE from Liberalism, lol) in 5 turns.
We get the extra food event in Hanover.
Also chop the forest for 13 hammers into Hanover's jail. Hanover getting real nice treatment this turn.
We found Liepzig, the NP city.
Immediately dump Tao in it. We go for a granary first, although it's going to be tough going here without the whip or chop. Since we have Replaceable parts, use lumbermills all over the prospective forests for now.
Cologne finishes a Grocer, I dial for a jail.
Essen done an Observatory, I dial a grocer here.
It's about now, as my set ended, that I wondered why all our workers were busy the whole time. The answer? They were automated! Ugh. That's my

entirely for not catching these guys. Now we have random roads across the desert while we are still in need of improvements in many places.
I also probably

ed by putting grocers in front of banks. However, this isn't a huge problem as Wall St is delayed anyways by Munich needing health first. Munich is also missing its own bank, so probably want to get on that first...
Overall, still in good shape. I dialed Steam next for the possible grabbing of Assembly Line from Lib, but we can of course do something else like get rifling first, as it would allow us to begin building garrison, and forces to attack Genghis. Steel for Cannons is also a good choice. We do want Communism for a DP with Pericles though....
According to rosters which are all over the place now, I think Tryn is up...
