Trades for 6/5 turn chat

Rome - Has 16 gold in treasury. Unable to make a decent trade.

Aztecs - Has 3 gold. Currently trading Incense, Ivory, and Iron (which they reconnected!)

India - Renegotiate Ivory for Silks deal
Ivory --> World Map, 18 GPT, 90 gold up front (98 in their treasury)

They are willing to trade Steam Power for Ivory WM, and 810 gold (very pricey...)

Babylon - No viable trades. They do want a WM and 780 gold for their furs.

China - No viable trades (they are broke). They will give us a worker for 25 gold.

Zulus - 26 gold total (They're out of their economic depression!)

Incense or spices --> WM, 4 GPT, 20 gold

Iroquios - Doesn't want to trade Steam Power unless we renegotiate our dyes for 3 GPT trade. SP for dyes, WM, and 670 gold (pricey...)

Greece - Current Ivory deal: 18 GPT.

We can renegotiate for 12 GPT, and 140 gold upfront. (that's equal to 7 more GPT).

Chat log is here

1230 AD. A highlight in the Age of Trade is upon us, and changes are already taking place! After a lengthy naming cerimony, Washington was bestowed with the name, Valhall, and Tlaxcala was renamed, Cyrus. A few diplomats managed to sail accross the seas in their caravels, and offered England 84 gold to build a fine embassy in London. A review of London showed that they have all 8 luxuries. 3 spearmen and 2 pikemen units were seen walking through the streets. Once the embassy was established, General Falcon ordered the retirement of our 2 oldest Phoenatican Defense Units - Spearmen; 1 each in Byblos and Civantoria. A cerimony took place in the city of PDX, where the Queen of England even sent a diplomat to give a speech! One of our musketmen units from Philladelphia was ordered to head out to Thebes, to protect the Forbidden Palace that was still under construction. This decade also saw massive trading with the Zulus, who just recovered from their long economic depression, Greece, and India.

Ten years have passed and General Falcon is worried about the state of our military. "Other nations have guns on horseback! And along our borders too! Whilst our horsemen are still carrying swords!", exclaimed Falcon. At his command, 15 units were sent to Fox Nest, Civantoria, and Memphis to be trained as Cavalry. 3 units were kept at the borders to add in a "defensive show of force". Another decade would follow, and 7 knight units were trained as cavalry.

Some time later, a diplomat from India came, informing that our Silks for Ivory deal was about to expire! We asked to renew the trade, and India agreed, with a cost of 80 gold for India to ship their silks to us. Some years following that deal, another celebration started in Fox Nest. A trading company, founded by a former Spice Traders Guild executive, started a business that would pay for all buildings that deal with trade! The company is known as the Smith's Trading Company. It netted us a 23 GPT surplus! Five years later, our leaders started setting up their offices in Thebes. The announce came that the Forbidden Palace has been completed! This netted us 66 GPT more in addition to Smith's Trade (89 GPT total - including trade from other nations).

But, with the news of Smith's Trade, other nations started work on Newton's University. The University was completed in Nineveh, Babylon. Also of note in this illustrious decade, 8 more knight units were trained as cavalry. In the following 5 years, they moved accross the land, to the bordertowns. In 1265, our FA visited the embassies of Indian and Iroquios, and gifted them with 2 GPT. This greatly improved our relations with our neighbors! 5 years later, we were informed that Greece has signed a MPP with our allies, Inida.
