TV-01: A Noble Beginning

So I'm going to guess that we are free to pursue any victory condition? Do we want to discuss this? Pangea maps are really fun for Domination/Conquest victories :ar15:

If we want to go after the Oracle, That marble resource to the south of Berlin would make a tasty place for city #3

Looking to the east of Lionhead.....have we been introduced to the AI civ with the purple culture border? Could it be Caeser ? :hmm:

I'm a bit new to this whole image posting thing. How exactly would I take a screenshot/upload it?

And to which folder do these games get saved when I download them?

i use photobucket.com.

in game i press 'Print Screen', this captures the screen shot. it is automaticlly saved in the games 'screen shot' folder. (i believe it's something like my games\civilazation4\screen shots, or somethiong like that.

when i am ready to post them i upload them to photobucket.com (free picture hosting...)

when i do my turn report i insert image and paste the url from the picture in photobucket inside the image tags.

And

what are some goals/objectives/victory conditions we want?

will wait to play until have decided goals/objectives/victory conditions we want.

I agree with white that we should go SW for out next city and grab the marble and cows, perhaps placing the city along the coast. As for victory conditions I usually win time victories as I tend to play peacefully but don't do the apollo program or aim for legendary culture cities. Since Frederick gives us extra culture and better chances for GPs maybe we should get a GP farm going and try to win through a combination of city flips and small wars?

ok. as it's late for me i will not be playing tonight. on my way to . play tomorrow.

had a very rough day today. had to lay off several people. some who had been with the comapny for a very long time. not feeling much like playing right now. kindly request a skip.

lurker's comment: IMIO, city2 shoulda been one south of where it is. then you coulda put city 3 one north of the wheat to crab the fish and crabs.

you might want to think about fresh water next time when founding the capital. Berlin one south would rock.

As a short term plan, you may wish to consider hacking out one or two cities and then whipping some axes to go kill or maim the romans.

It is prom morning, and I just got home. I've downloaded the save, now to see if I can do something with it.

Inherited Turn: Completed Worker in Berlin. Completed Mysticism.
Turn 2: Berlin goes to Stonehenge for GP points. Started Meditation
Turn 3-4: Nothing special.
Turn 5: Berlin grows to size 3.
Turn 6-8: Nothing special.
Turn 9: Meditation Complete, now going for Priesthood (7 turns)for Oracle
Turn 10: Stonehenge Complete, now going for Settler in Berlin
Turns 11-12: Nothing
Turn 13: Worker begins hooking up horses at Lionhead. Missed its border expansion some time ago.
Turns 14-15: Nothing aside from random barb animal fights.
Turn 16: Judaism lands somewhere. Priesthood achieved. Went for Masonry
Turn 17: Settler completes at Berlin, going to spot suggested by tivrames.
Turn 18: 3rd City Settled.
Turn 19: Nada
Turn 20: Masonry Completed...No tech selected. We're currently hooking up copper to Berlin and City 3. I had NO diplomacy during my turnset.

I suspect I made a turn log mistake somewhere. Sorry!

I can go ahead and take my turns unless Codeman is ready to take his.

Alright, this is my official "I've got the save". I'll probabbly play and post tomorrow morning.

Codeman -- Sorry about you having to go through laying off employees. I'm in the real estate business in CA and the threat is very real in my industry too.

TURN 1 1140 BC: Start researching Pottery. Will time the discovery of it with the construction of the Oracle and take Metal Casting for some early forges. Worker pasteurizes pigs in Lionhead. Worker in Hamburg start quarrying the marble.

TURN 2 1400 BC: :coffee:

TURN 3 1360 BC:

TURN 4 1320 BC: Scouting the east.

TURN 5 1280 BC: Worker done with the pig pasture. Since we haven't researched Agriculture, I start him building a road to connect Lionhead and Berlin.

TURN 6 1240 BC: Scout in the east gets his first glimpse of barbarions

TURN 7 1200 BC: Quarry finished. Worker starts pasteurizing cows.

TURN 8 1160 BC: Hatty swithes to slavery. Catherine switches to Organized Religion. Pottery is discovered and Berlin finishes the Oracle:

We take metal casting. Berlin starts an axeman. We'll get a Great Prophet in two turns in Berlin...Not real sure what to do with him since we haven't even researched Polytheism  So I start teching Poly next. Would probably be a good idea to found a religion, and spread ours to either Gandhi or Caeser, since they are both near us.

TURN 9 1120 BC: Berlin finishes axeman and starts on a settler. We need to found a couple more cities before all the good real estate is taken

I think this would be a good spot. Hopefully when/if we get a religion, it will be in this future site putting some pressure on Gandhi. I really think if we want to pick a fight it should be with him. Gandhi usually neglects building a very big army and his land looks pretty good  . Caeser on the other hand makes for a great ally and almost always has a big army.

This is another good spot of land as well

This is in the southwest of our side of the map and it has stone, which would be great. I wonder if it isn't too late to build the Pyriamids :hmm: Lionhead finishes barracks and starts a chariot. I start moving the axeman from Berlin to the future city site.

TURN 10 1080 BC: Lionhead becomes unhappy. Whoops.....:smoke: should have been watching for that and whipped something. I bump granary in front of the chariot and will whip it as soon as it only costs me 2 population. Moses is born in Berlin. I decide to make him a specialist there mainly because we could use the money (5 gold per turn/2 hammers per turn) which will allow us to remain at 100% research and since we've already built the oracle and stonehenge, we'll be pumping out a lot of Great Prohets. Next one is due in 25 turns. By then we should be teched to the point where we can get COL or Theology.

TURN 11 1040 BC: Berlin's culture expands.

TURN 12 1000 BC: Hamburg finishes axeman and starts a granary. I whip the Granary in Lionhead.

TURN 13 975 BC: :coffee:

TURN 14 950 BC: Lionheart finishes chariot. Starts a settler.

TURN 15 925 BC: Finish Polytheism. Start Writing. Berlin finishes its settler and starts the Parthenon. I know we're already Philosophical, but this wonder will make us Super Philosophical :smug: Gandhi adopts Organized Religion.

TURN 16 900 BC: Settler is moving towards the city site. India Has beaton us to the spot in the southwest.

That doesn't really suck too bad, as the city will someday be ours! :mwaha:

TURN 17 875 BC:

TURN 18 850 BC: Munich is founded

and sees some barb activity to the east  Munich starts a granary.

TURN 19 825 BC: Our worker has completed the road connecting Lionhead and Berlin. Now Lion can build axemen! I order the worker to build a road to Munich.

TURN 20 800 BC: Catherine asks for Open Borders. Sure. :) Hamburg finishes the granary and starts a barracks.

Here is our world so far:

That's it for me. Writing will be discovered in one turn. I suggest we get OB with everybody to help relations. I also suggest we beef up our forces (lots of axemen) if we want to go after Gandhi. Next Great Prophet in 15 turns BTW.

And the save:

got it and will play tonight.

we are going to move down to 10 turn turnsets because otherwise it will go very fast on normal speed i think

i played slightly more than 10 turns - this was to get us to a reasonable number of turns left (360 IIRC)

first, i started research on CoL for Confucius, but soon realised we still didn't have agriculture!!! so that came first.

i built a new city, Cologne:

this was to harvest eventually gems and cows.

after agriculture, we got this:

research to mono, so he can pop theology or CoL for a religion (we have big happiness problems)

Parthenon completed:

we have now signed OB with all civs, our scouts are eagerly exploring...

the save:
