Two gays walking down the street, hand in hand

Mechelen itself is all right but when you get out it gets slightly worse.

But now that you say Antwerp, trust me, my crappy town's still tonnes better than the suburbs around Antwerp.

Nowadays Finns are pretty tolerant. Here some people would maybe stare at the couple but no much reaction.

It is still uncommon enough in my region that it draws looks and snickers, but I really don't care what consenting adults do or do not do to each other.

My neighborhood in Columbus is smack between a gigantic university, and the city's arts district...so seeing gay couples isn't exactly uncommon. In other places in Ohio, it might draw stares or derogatory comments...but not where I live.

Oh yes, I remember such an event once at a train station, I saw this hot blonde and i was checking her out when a tomboyish beautiful black haired hot girl appeared on a vespa. She stopped near the hot blonde and they french kissed on the street.

that was so

that's exactly what I meant. The funny thing is that while some men give gays funny looks, it's the women who give lesbians funny looks :)

Nobody cares. Most people in the Oakland area are social liberals or social libertarians.

I was always taught that HETEROSEXUAL hanky-panky is impolite in public. I fail to see why gays should get special treatment.

Holding hands is hanky panky?

Agree with you on that part though. Bedrooms exist for a reason.

In your city/town/village/hamlet/farm/workshop.

what is the general reaction?

Happens in the city centre here, you might see it once every few months. Most people dont bat an eyelid, occaioanlly you hear of gay-bashings

Most gays in my city live in basically the same areas and are around more liberal people so there are little if any interactions between the gays and the christian right here. In fact most here are oblivious to the fact that we have gays. We have about have as much as LA does.
