Please try out these two new scenarios and let me know what you think. One is set in 1100 during the Crusades, while the other starts in 1650 and covers the period of European colonialism.

Hi jamestout, I'll be glad to give an eye ;) (so little time...)
I love Crusades era.
I appreciated your FranceBritain1100 idea too, 'cause XII-XIII centuries are so rich of events... (maybe you mischanged Burgundian and Flemish flags... ?) ;)

I'll back on that one, too :D

Thanks Gagliaudo, glad you enjoyed the previous one - hopefully you'll find these ones as good or better!

Outstanding work Jamestout
The graphics look stunning. How do you create them? I can see the basic units are other peoples mainly but the sharp definition and the fact that they all match sets them apart! I will play all three scenarios ASAP.

I would highly recomend a visit to the Apolyton Civilization Site (CivII Creation/Scenario League) where I am sure there will be a good 30-40 regulars who would love to se your work. I have put a link below:

Also there is the Scenario League Wikipedia page where you can upload your creations for all to download. Here is a link to that page:

There has been an influx of new CivII designers in recent months both here and at Apolyton (I am one of them). Will let you know what I make of the games as soon as I have played them :goodjob:

Great work - Will be checking them out this weekend!

:)

PS
The GFX are extremely well done - !

...

jamestout: well, your 3 works have found many new players... :)
... even thanx to Werd100, a real marketing promoter ;)

Just spredding the love

I played a few hours on the Britain and France scenario last night and thoroughly enjoyed it!

@Jamstout
Hope you don't mind, I put some links to these threads on Apolyton so hopefully there will be a few more people checking them out.

Wow, wasn't expecting such a response!
Glad everyone's liking them and appreciating the graphics - God knows how much time it took me over the years to draw them! They've been hanging around on my computer for ages and I thought I'd get them out there for people to try out.
My "inspiration" really just comes from my head - I have a bit of a photographic memory when it comes to remembering costumes/weapons and that kind of stuff. I also try to make all the units match so they can be used interchangeably in scenarios. As for the cities, the same applies - they're really just out of my imagination (which I like to think is reasonably accurate historically), which might explain any anachronisms.
Anyway, glad you're all enjoying playing the scenarios. This might just inspire me to make another one...any suggestions, feel free!

Glad to hear from you JT. Thought we had lost you

If you like I can post these three on the Scenario League site (link below) where they should be picked up by a few more players. I am posting several others for someone at Apolyton so it would be no bother. All I would need is a bit of text to explain each scenario that I can copy and paste onto the new page.

Don't know if you are into the Trojan War, I know a few people have been looking for this to be covered. I have not seen Troy yet but a friend tells me it is quite good and it could be used to inspire. Just an idea.

Very, very well-done! I'm not quite sure how you did it, but the Crusades scenario has rekindled my interest in Middle-Ages conflict. Both of these superb scenarios improve greatly upon the existing ones by MicroProse.
Great things await you as a builder of scenarios!

Not to detract form jame's work but if you are interested in the Crusades scenarios, you should also try Cross and Crescent by Bebro and the upgraded (by someone else) version of that classic, I think it was called InNomine (dominon).

I hope JT does make another scenario. These ones were a lot of fun and it was refreshing to see a new take on scenario design. Historical accuracy will come with experience, the most important thing is to complete projects that are fun to play.

What's wrong with my historical accuracy?
Seriously though, I think it isn't always possible to be 100% accurate with only seven civs, so occasionally you just have to be a bit "representative". But I do always try to be accurate where possible. I also think a little bit of imagination can also be a good thing...?!
Check out Apolyton for another posting detailing my latest project.

I've had a closer look at the scenarios and I'm not complaining about historical accuracy. I just wanted to offer some advice on the technical aspects.

If I'm not mistaken, I think you are not working off a sav file. If you use a scn file as your base file, the game increments on each load and you end up with the cities building stuff they already built.

My main comment is the lack of sound, which I consider to be a crucial component of scenario building. I see you've chosen to follow most of the original unit slot positions to minimize sound mismatch problems but as you are using the spare slots, you can't avoid the problem altogether and it has probably also forced you to leave some unit slots unused.
