Typhoon of Steel V2.02 PBEM

First the report:

Ive taken all but one city near sankoelirang. My fleet near pearl killed a cruiser.
Ive killed a guerrila and one defender near singapor. Ive taken Ketapeng.

Thx all, ill do my best to have fun ! (new character is always fun to try!)

(an conference to beat me. Do the allies are already on their knee?)

:aargh:

I am tired of getting :spank:
sombody has to get these :ninja: off of me.

A LARP is a Live Action Role Playing.
Its dongeons and dragons but in the wood with real, well, ok fake, sword!!! Its very fun!!!!

And sorry Rcout, but I wanted oil and you had it. Now I have some!!!

(Dang i still need to connect it to my big city though!!!)

@ LostKnight--Life is full of little surprizes. I purposely cut as many roads and harbors as I could. I knew exactly why you attacked the way you did and would have done the same thing myself. It is unfortunate that the Dutch start out so weak that even though I knew your strategy, I could not do anything to prevent the conquests. The best I could do was try to delay your connecting the oil.

Good job, btw, on your success.

Oh yeah, and that is what I meant about 'exactly what the Japanese did in WWII'. The entire reason that the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor was because they assumed that the US would not allow them to ship oil from the Dutch East Indies past the Phillipines (even if the Japanese had not declared war on the US) since the oil would have been used to finish off the conquest of China. The US and Japan had been in heated negotiations about the conquest of China. Thus, the US had placed an oil and metals embargo on the Japanese. Since the Dutch had been conquered by Germany, the Japanese felt that the colonies in Borneo and Sumatra were open territory for them (just ask the Germans for them, and since the Germans were allies and could not get the oil themselves, of course they would agree). It was the US Pacific fleet that was in the way (along with the air bases in the Phillipines). Thus, the Japanese High Command figured that if they eliminated the fleet and took the Phillipines that the US would sue for peace and let them finish their work.

I now all that, I study in military history!! But thats stilla good summary!!

And thats why I copyed it!!

(go search in bok what will be my next target!)

We actually did some damage to the evil Japanese. They have three DD's near Bandjermasin. Too close, actually. The Akizuki, Makikumo and Yugure are now very low on hp and soon to be at the bottom of the sea! Meanwhile, we seem to have lost contact with one of our submarines near Truk island. No matter, there are 5 more where that one came from.

To those marines and combat engineers advancing on Bandjermasin, I say, "Give it up guys! You don't have a chance! The Brits have come to my rescue!"

Im back!!

The grat Japanese army has advanced on Bandjermasin, killing two infantry and heavily damaged the british expeditionary troop. The great invasion of singapor has started and the city will be soon in my hand. The grat fleet of the pacific has sunk a sub near midway. Lost one bomber while bombing china.

Not much else realy.

The Dutch have little to report. Our Commonwealth allies have yet again blocked our maneuvering so we could do little harm to the Jap invaders near Bandjermasin. We thank our allies for the gifts and will try to put them to good use really soon.

A quiet turn for the Commonwealth also, but next turn
the fat will hit the fire in Singapore and some other
places.

Also I'd like to commend everyone for the speed of play,
this game is just zipping along compared to some others
I've been in, keep up the good work.

Yeah, we are all so fast!!

The mighty army at singapor is now working in my labour camp. After a bloddy battle, the british troop did not have any choice and surrender the city.

The CV Lexington and his escort has been sunk by japenese torpedo plane.

The jap is still advancing on Badjermasin and one machine gunner has been killed.

The Dutch are still holding the city of Bandjermasin in spite of the massive fleets the Japanese have sent against it.

Can anybody tell me why battleships are -1 hp in this game? If anything they should be stronger, not weaker. As it is, an elite Cruiser has a better than even shot of sinking an attacking Veteran battleship! Not only that, but a regular BB attacking a regular CA is about even odds!

Yes, I can tell you why (this is from the TOS document which can be
downloaded from post #4 in the completed scenarios TOS thread):

5.0 All capital ships, which includes battleships, aircraft carriers and
light carriers in TOS represent a single ship. As such, these units are
vulnerable to a single critical hit, like the one the doomed the Prince
of Wales. All capital ships have a -1 hit point modifier which means a
veteran battleship will have fewer hit points than a veteran heavy cruiser.
In TOS a cruiser unit represents 2 ships, while each destroyer or sub
actually represents a flotilla.
Note: battleships have lethal sea bombardment in TOS.

Are you thinking of building some battlewagons?

The angry japanse emperor have sent an expeditonary army to punish the chinese.

Bandjer is still under heavy fire. Sunk a cruiser that was too close of japan.

Japan too have a secret weapon... But it is made of steel and fire!!!

Another Japanese city revolted, this time Toyohara.
Rescued the poor, hungry, sick, and exhausted Japanese sailors of a wrecking DD East of Japan.

Just an observation: You may want to increase the cost of Heavy Cruisers to reflect that they are two ships to the one battleship (or lower the BB cost). It would certainly be more costly to build two heavy cruisers than one battleship (this is true even today according to US Navy records).
