I wish to Start up a game of BTS on Pitboss

Here are the things I am sure of.

Terra Map. While conflict on the old world will be a constant, players will also be trying to grab new colonies and the new resources they offer.

Hamachi. For whatever reason I have to use this to host.

Start. I intend to start this once I return from Europe, so lets call it Early November. Of course theres a patch upcoming so we'll be using that.

I love to join your game.

and i wanna be Willem van Oranje too.
Native american is my 2e choice.

about settings:

tech trading on it much more diplomacy then
barbarians off
normal speed.

I would like to play as Augustust of Rome.
I prefer tech brokering.
The slower the speed the better.
Barbs on.

Password protect AI's ... lol

OK opening up the discussion, and please don't have a hissy fit

1) Personally I like the idea of Random leaders each. Makes all of us Adapt to the hand we are dealt. (For example in a recent game I was landed with the Mongols and had to do a Horse Archer rush to make sure my neighbouring Romans didn't get their Iron Mines connected)

2) On a Terra map, the Barbarians make things really interesting. The New World has a fair few barbarian cities for you to plunder, but if you fail and your colony gets takenby the barbs they begin building with your tech. I had one game where all the "old' nations were hard set to get a foot hold as the barbs had access to Riflemen! (and they were hordes of the buggers)

I would like to join this game as well.

I'm for tech trading/brokering (indifferent between the two). I'm also pro barbs.

Speedwise, I like something a little faster.

I also think random leaders makes things more interesting, but if we decide to choose I'll take Darius.

random leaders are fine with me.
but barbarians are so anoying. Its much more fun playing versus real human players and have some diplomacy. Last game i lost a settler because of a wolf i couldnt see.

I would like to play.

I think Random leaders is a very good idea. Slower the better for me but I'm not that fussed.

I always play with Barbs on. But in Terra maps they are not so good. The New World usually has a number of barb cities and various 'spare' barbarians. And these are all on the same land mass. These all beeline for the first landing / settlements. As there are so many an early settlement is often swamped unless you send lots and lots of defenders. Once these spare barabarians are gone settling the continent is easy, as is conquering the large but weekly defended barb cities.

This doesn't matter in a single player game much but in MP it will have the effect of the first one or two people to the new world may well be over whelmed, while the later explorers will move in unopposed. This might not be the effect you are hoping for.

I am happy with or without them.

Hi Hop!

Yes I have distinct memoroies of 15 barbarian riflemen descending on my first colony. So somebody definitely got there before me!!

Count me in.
The one this I would like to see is the ability to trade techs I got from others. just like in the real world :)

i'll join. no barbs please. Tech brokering is pretty stupid(at least play with no tech brokering), tech trading wouldn't be allowed at all if it was up to me. I am fine with random if not i'll join the dutch masses. I would probably not be very interested in anything slower than normal assuming it doesn't have regular sessions at least a couple hours a week. You need a list of rules? Are anything allowed or not allowed? Check oob's list of rules to get an idea of what other people play with. I would also strongly prefer no huts as they are pretty imbalanced sometimes(though it does make starting with hunting a bit less useless especially as you can't chose your civ if it is random).

Without Tech Brokering/Trading the game becomes a solitary-race. You can always do that, just by playing against the computer......strange thought.....maybe they already have this option included with the game ;)
Look at it as another great way to practice your negotiation skills and actually interact with people.

One last thing, knowing Troy, you will have an instance ally against me any day of the week. He would have sold his own mother if she was a character in the game just to get me. And on that note, if anyone want to start an anti-Troy coalition right off the bat, count me in

OK I agree we don't want to turn it into a mass single player game. At least it's not Archapeligo

But no Tech Brokering doesn't stop this aspect. You can still benefit from tech trading and research alliances. It just stops tech whoring. Thats a bit cheesy even in SP ;) In MP surely it will result in lots of techs being traded very cheaply to Civs far off. After all if I don't trade it for a few gold someone else will....

MP games are likely to favour the war aspect of Civ over the tech / building aspects. No tech brokering will help redress that a little as researchers will be rewarded by having things to trade. The war mongering rushers will still do well I suspect on a MP terra map :)

As with most settings I don't really mind. I can adapt to it - or not :) But I don't think full tech trading will add much to the skill or enjoyment factor of the game.
