Want to conquer the world with a single unit without need for war declaration ? Here's how to do it:
- build HN (hidden nationality unit)
- build non-HN transport (you need the troyan horse for inland cities, enabled by the deception tech which gives you the HN unit you need for free)
- must have an open borders agreement with the target victim
- load HN unit inside transport
- move transport next to target city (on an adjacent square)
- do *not* unload HN unit, rather move it directly from transport inside target city (disregard combat odds)
- without a fight, all ennemy units are bumped outside, and the target city becomes yours!
-repeat with next city until world is yours.

Nice. I knew that there's some way to bump immortal units around (usually happens to me...) but I didn't know that HN could cause it. Good find.

Game Crushing bug:

Warrens + Ragnorak = no incrementation of the Armageddon counter.

Also (perhaps unintentional) Warrens do not add promotion to second unit built.

Also (likely unintentional) Warrens do not add delivery route to second unit built.

So is this not taken to be an act of war? And is the city left intact?

nope, it's not an act of war, and the city is conquered as per normal rules - which means most buildings are lost and a period of riot
And all so suddenly the trojan horse became the most coveted unit in the game.
any type of sea transport will do, troyan horse is only needed to capture inland cities without effort

As far as I know, this has been true for a few patches now. I recall it was possible with Alazkan, and assumed it was with any Hidden Nationality unit.

Unfortunate it hasn't been fixed, but unless the AI starts doing it, I think it's easy enough to avoid in normal play.

So, jus to point out, this should go in the strategy thread, not the general thread.

He put it in the Bug Thread Yesterday.

in the same way, if you DON'T want to be conquered, have a HN unit defend your cities during wars. It can't be attacked by civs you're at war with.

Except they can jus kill it cuz it's barb to them. Consider Privateers for an example of this. Even your friends will usually attack those.

Seriously? That makes no sense at all.... now I'm going to have to go and test things.

EDIT: Tested it. Loaded a game, passed the first turn so cities were settled, granted one of the AI an extra warrior with HN in his city, and gave myself 2 units to attack with. I was quite able to kill both units and take the city.

Did you put a HN unit in your own city, then put 8 units around it from a city you are at war with, and see if they attack?

I used to loose animals (if I hadn't declared nationality them, while they waited for a carnival) to civs I had open boarders with, but in my last game, they were completely ignored (HN animals sleeping in cities).

But that could just be coincidence. I haven't rigorously tested anything.
