I find the Hittites underpowered, because their UU is just the same as the normal Chariot.

Actual i think maybe their OP if you ask me. Their chariots may seem that way but if you pay attention their actually about 10% cheaper then regular chariots! Also don't forget they ignore move cost penalties. Which if use correctly and be much abused. Don't get me started with that iron forge! Never goes obsolete and provides a 10% Production and food bonus. Did I say food? Yup thats right so long as you have Iron your cities will grow much faster and on top become more productive then your fellow rivals!

Do they still seem underpowered?

The Siamese UB is ridiculous +40% research bonus never obsoletes...

Should be reduced to +30% at most

leader trait combo of Aggressive and Charismatic (Boudica of the Celts) as you gain very strong units due to many promotions. furthermore the celtic UB (dun, replaces walls) gives a free promotion...

very nice for peaceful players because you don't need to build much military and can concentrate on improving your cities.

Who on earth plays the Celts as a peaceful people?? That seems like a contradiction in terms.

Historically knowledgeable people. :smug: :joke:

You Brits should know that Celts were neither war-like nor peaceful, but were cultured in their own right. It was before arrogant Romans came to the Celts lands, both in western Europe and British Isles. Romans had made them out to be ruthless barbarians for obvious reasons. So I find it ironical that Boudica is a famous Celt leader nominated for LH in this game while no Roman LH is a female .

Just saying :D. I don't care one way or another how you play a LH. I personally don't rely that much on traits anyway. Maybe, I'm just not that advanced player to micromanage to that level ;).

I'm not talking about in real life, purely in the game :)

ROM+AND

Best Warmongers in my opinion:
There are no (Financial/Scientific),(Aggressive/Charismatic) except those 2 leaders so they must be best.
Boudica Agg,Cha
Bismarck Agg,Sci

Then other choices for Warmonger would be:
Washington Exp,Cha
Hammurabi Agg,Hum

Some less attractive choices:
Tokugawa Agg,Dec ?? (jap start with fishing so kind of bad choice)
Mansa Musa Fin,Sci ?? (This one could work due to insane technology advantage)
Genghis Khan Agg,Nom ?? (Need to go cav to use second trait and national units)
Afonso I Agg,Exp ?? (bad national units...)
Shaka Agg,Exp ?? (same as Afonso, but has insane Spearmen)

Best warmonger traits are Aggressive, Charismatic I figured.
What i cant understand is what is better for economy/research Financial or Scientific?

In my opinion, enhanced AI skills in development, makes the imperialistic trait very strong.

So my list of best traits now is: industrial(for wonders), scientific (obvious), imperialistic. So, any leaders, which have two out of three mentioned above should be very strong, IMHO. Examples? Augustus Ceasar, Henry VIII....

I think the most UP leader (at least for AI it is) is Saladin (Pro/Spi), due the fact he is allways last in the scoreboard. (Do you guys have the same problem?)

And by "allways" I mean in every game I start and play. Sometimes he has good starting place, sometimes bad, but the thing is that he is either last in the scoreboard, or vassaled to someone (if he has survived that far!)

so Boudica is the best for every strategy...

most important to excel at economy/science is to spend most turns possible on producing economy buildings. this means you must neglect the military production. the over-experienced Celts of Boudica allow exactly that as you can reduce your army to a minimum (you lose very few units and win most battles because of their high XP) and still have no problem with wars.

financial and scientific civs have usually a big problem: as they need a larger military to hold their ground they build all the commerce and science builigs much later than Boudica is able to... so they have weaker commerce and science.

and as far as judging civs and letterheads by the AI that plays them is misleading. they have different personalities and follow different strategies. an example: the AI doesn't play boudica as good as she should be judging by how OP she is in my hands.

There is bad part about Baudica is that her National units and buildings are not good for a Warmonger, they are defensive.

My question about Science and Financial was meant:
Considering Civics+Buildings+Improvements+Everything which Trait would help one more Sci or Fin? First thing that comes to mind is Fin because its more flexible, it pays for both Military and Science.

Someone needs to make a list of the best AIs in ROM srsly I need it XD

The +1 Food Bonus on your plots are a god-sent with agricultural, especially beside floodplains. Trust me. +1 more food on 3 tiles = 1 extra tile your city can work from. And from that extra1 tile = more hammers/$$ . think about it ;)
