Unit requests thread

If anyone could just help me fine-tune these Vietnamese units that would be cool. As you can see from the attached screen-shot the Rifleman's hat is floating above the head and the Grenadier is holding the sword (which he isn't supposed to hold, but use when he is in non-ranged combat), if someone could fix these for me I'd be grateful. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: The Vietnamese Grenadier looks like an Asian pirate like that, doesn't he?

Well I cant really fix the units right now but I can tell you how to fix them.

The floating hat thing is probably because you have a skin instance on the hat and have it connected to the head. Remove the skin instance and it should stay put.

The grenadiers sword being visible is most likely from the new sword not being connected to a node that has a niviscontroller. So reattatch it to whatever the vanilla grenadiers sword node is (make sure its got a niviscontroller still hooked up to it). Also you might have to copy over the alpha controller from the gren sword mesh's material (I forget how that works or if you actually need both the niviscontroller and the material alpha controller so I usually just make sure there both there)

From Warlords. Also present in BtS (I think).

I'm going to look into it a bit, and maybe I can come up with something. I have an idea for the Iroquois Cannon but it might look stupid, we'll see. I am using that old "Native American" cannon for the Sioux right now but it looks kind of out of place if you ask me. I used the Scout skin from that Sioux HorseArcher you made for the Sioux chariot, and it looks pretty decent, but I can't come up with anything for the Iroquois. I'll post up the Cannon when I'm finished with it. Hopefully it turns out alright.

The cannonier's bone structure does that to other meshes. Sometimes you have to do some reboning or add some dummy bones to "unsquish" it.

That's a little above my paygrade, I don't know how to screw with bones and stuff like that.

Yeah there's slight squishing for some (my Korean Cannonier is just barely squished, I'm sure that one I just made will be too) and then for others its pretty bad (try throwing a Janissary on there and you'll see what I mean), so its difficult to make a Cannonier. I would suggest this though, and it might make it easier on you. If you use Bakuel's Aztec cannon as a base the body pretty much looks like the body of the Sioux you were talking about, so all you'd have to do is replace the head, and I feel like if you went that route it wouldn't take more than a few minutes to finish. I just suck at doing stuff like that so I'll leave it to you. I haven't looked at the Iroquois Cannon in game yet, but I'll do so tomorrow.

I am looking for an alternative early and modern great_artist, because I plan to use the old skins for a unit named "great Entertainer". Is there anything like this around here, or could anyone make it?

I think an ancient great entertainer would look more like either a belly dancer or maybe from a Greek actor. I know that doens't really help much, but there is a reskinned Buddhis misionary in the Mare Nostrum mod that would look good with the mask from the Oedipus Rex LH made by cfkane as an ancient great entertainer.
