Unstacking Cities Featurette

I'll also say Alhambra on the wonder in the corner. Good catch though. Also, the aqueduct is in a growth district, that name was new for me.

On a side-note, am I the only one who thinks the pastel colours on the district roofs are totally overdone? I understand the incentive to be able to recognize the districts on the map, but the pink on the culture district and now the teal on the growth district are downright ugly an immersion-killing for me. If it can't be done in game, I really hope someone will make a mod to take the colours away or turn them drastically down.

Not quite, the aqueduct is a growth district. The aqueduct is a district itself.

Oh really? That's odd ... where did we see that?
It's listed as a district in the build menu of the E3 video. The description is "A district that brings fresh water from an adjacent River, Lake, Oasis or Mountain to your city, boosting its potential population."

Sewers are mentioned in the Eureka condition for Suffrage; that sounds like a building that could go in the Aqueduct district.

The district video mentioned a growth district and showed the aqueduct. The way I understand it "Aqueduct" is the name of the growth district, like "campus" is the name of the science district.

it's an odd name for a district -though I admit the district itself it's a great idea. '(Fresh) water district', 'Growth district',...I'm sure there are options

Yes, but the aqueduct itself that is seen on the district is probably there as part of the district and do not count as one of the three buildings you can buy on it later on. For example, we have the airport that seems to be a district, and on the E3 video we can see the distinction of one with only the airport, and then it filled up with three other buildings besides the airport itself.

Districts have me seriously wondering how Electricity will function, assuming it is in the game. A Utilities district? Does the type of building you can place in the district vary with where the district is located? (E.g. River = Hydroelectric?)

Also, altho I doubt it's in the game, would be interesting to see a Dump/Waste District you had to strategically place away from certain other tiles. With the Recycling Center reducing or reversing the negative impact of the district.

For Aqueduct district, I bet Sewage System (I think I Heard/read it somewere) is also in for modern ages (maybe earlier for Rome ;) ). Electricity might fit as well in to complete this "utilities" district, even if not fully water-related (except for hydro, and maybe Nuclear).

Production district, on the other hand, has Workshop, Factory and we have seen as well a third modern building with silos and a parking lot (Recycling center?) (Some Dump/Waste building?). Image below, from Arioch's site

If nuclear plants and dams are located on the map as districts, it opens up some intriguing possibilities. How about an artificial lake forming behind the dam as you place it? Or enemy spies blowing up your nuclear plant... Better locate it on the third ring, just in case!

Good ideas! Maybe the overhauled spy system allows that now.

Also would be cool if Nuclear plant takes away appeal rating of the city.

And maybe you'd need a plutonium production facility in order to make nuclear weapons? Causing the appeal values in its vicinity to sink to rock bottom... Simulating the cancer and other ailments that spread near such facilities irl (especially in Soviet Russia). A bit dark perhaps, but a necessary sacrifice for the greater glory of the Motherland. :D

If some of these ideas seem to extreme for the base game, I'm sure that a skilful modder or two can implement them. Although perhaps the artificial lakes would be too demanding, if the mechanic is not included in the base game (now that I think of it, perhaps spies could also blow up the dam! High risk + high reward for building them in that case; perhaps they'd have to produce more power to compensate for the inherent danger.).

I could see those as tile improvements instead of buildings on city enter or district.

Should be a "sanitation district" and aqueduct, sewer and garbage dump could all be viable options. Massive minuses to appeal of nearby neighborhoods.

As the growth district, it may have the hospital and medical lab after the sewer. Hospital and medical lab were related with food in V and part of a building chain that needed the aqueduct to be built first. And sewers system was needed to grow a city over 12 in 2, and hospital had the same role in 3.

If you joined in 2005, you should be aware of civ4 upgrade path ! and Industrial Park are more complex than industrial zones because it probably encompass the notion of excellency cluster and start-up nurturing as well as specific tax break (China SEA, ...)!

I recommend watching this video at .5 speed for a good laugh.

My fear in Civ6 is that with the new districs system cities will occupy a lot more ground than in previous games. You will also still need the farms/quarrys/mines/oil/etc tiles besides the distric tiles.
If maps are not big enough to acomodate that, specially Earth maps for TSL games you could find yourself i.e: only being able to place 6 cities max in western Europe landmass because you need the tiles.
