Update/Patches for v37

I can say that at least up to Sedentary Lifestyle that the AI is much better at expanding with this patch than it was in the regular 37. I had been getting up to 6 cities before the AI ever had 2. As it stands now I have 6 cities and the only other civ I know of is right with me with 6 cities. That civ is fairly close to me on the scoreboard too. It will be interesting to see what the other civ I have not found yet will have since it basically has 1 whole continent to itself at least until the barb cities start spawning new civs.

I have a current Epic game going were in late Ancient I'm finally entrenched in 2nd place as the 2nd largest empire. But I have 2 Civs that are outpacing me in tech, the Egyptians with Cleopatra (also largest civ @ 18 cities) and the Head Hunters with Jivaro (8 cities and 3rd place ranking).

Jivaro with his Spiritual trait has been a Religion Hog though and is pacing Cleo in Tech research. I had to put all 15 cities on lesser research to finally get a Religion, Hellenism, and I beat Jivaro out by 1 turn! Emperor Diff level, C2C_World Map/Low Sea level/Start Everywhere, default 9 AI on Large map. Jivaro has now gotten Buddhism and with his 7+ founded religions plus Monasteries is going to take off if he starts expanding. Luckily I have a buffer between he and I, Mongut of Siam. He also has Cleo south of him and she is expanding towards his area and Mongut to his North and west. Suppli- blahblah of the Hittites are North of Mongut, while Mongut is east of me.

I have only met 4 of the 9 AI though. We are all on the same landmass, which is huge.

I don't know if this is intended or not, but I notice I'm getting bonus research with "Win for Losing" if another civ has gotten the tech I'm researching before me whether I'm leading on the scoreboard or not. If I'm the first one researching a tech I do not get the bonus unless I am in 2nd place or lower on the scoreboard. I do NOT have tech diffusion on. By the way, great work on the ai. One of my opponents is staying close to me with the number of cities it has and on the scoreboard. The other is behind, but not by too far and all of this is on noble difficulty. I think the only reason I'm ahead on the scoreboard is because I'm getting most of the great wonders. That isn't too hard though with only 2 opponents.

That would be from tech diffusion. Even if the Tech Diffusion option is not on, there is a tech diffusion amount from Vanilla - I'm thinking of removing it to remove this confusion.

People should leave tech diffusion on. In my previous game AIs were in serious trouble with barbarians units, because I had so huge tech lead that the barbarians started to spawn early gunpowder units, which lead barbarians to overrun AI players who were no where near gunpowder techs. If I had not intervened in force AI would have been overrun. Only after I gave huge "chunks" of tech to all the players did they even have a change.
You should propably also make it so that if an AI player loses most of its cities crime rates, revolutionary, rates drop significantly. Reason: I have this way of......well lets just say "culling the herds", where I pretty much destroy all the cities from one AI player except one. I do this for the slaves, and to make sure nobody threathens my dominance. I have noticed that afterwards, when I done "culling", the players do not really fully recover ever, from that point on their "need" for expansion drops greatly. Their progress is greatly halted, by skyhigh criminal and pollution rates.

Anytime you start a new game with a released version or Patch you really Need to clear the cache folder (delete it's contents) before you start a new game. Between Pit's Map and your old cached data is the reason you are seeing these oddities.

For win 10 64 the path the the proper cache is this: C:\Users\"Username"\AppData\Local\My Games\Beyond the Sword\cache .

As we progress further and further from vanilla BtS this Cache clearing becomes more and more vital to getting the proper play from the latest versions of C2C.

Your current game even with you clearing the cache may never have the right Dates or Eras during it's course. This is because of the "data" it started with.

You can try Lord Brooks suggestion as well. If it works then let me know.

But please clear your cache folder as well.

EDIT: WFL is still a work in progress by ThunderBrd. It is supposed to help smaller empires keep up with the biggest Empire (in terms of number of cities as well as total pop).

In my personal games I'm finding that I can be the largest Empire city wise and still receive it's benefits. T-brd says even though I'm the largest in # of cities I maybe be smaller in pop. I'm finding this hard to understand when in one game I have 23 cities vs the next largest at 9 cities. I've captured 4 Cities of another empire that had 7 cities all in the 14-20 pop range. The only time I've not had the WFL bonus was when I actually was researching and had just researched a Tech that was further into the tech tree than anyone else. As long as I follow the tech leader I get the WFL bonus. At least that has been my experience with this new Option since it's introduction.

Further testing by all players is needed by T-brd to refine this Option.

Because I am being silly and want this reiterated / clarified. What you are saying is that ANY TIME we update the SVN, we should clear the cache?

IIRC - only clear the cache if you are starting a new game or switching between different games. When updating from the SVN do a recalc. if prompted.

Disagree. All depends upon Difficulty level and game set up options used.

In fact I've had discussion with T-brd about reducing TD's strength. I almost always now play with it Off and the AI is doing well. Of course it is also my opinion that the new WFL aids the player too much to.

And are you basing your observations off of v37 play? You've not played enough games with the Patch to have a big enough pool of data to say what you are claiming now that you are using it.

New Full Mod SVN 9634 Patch for v37 and v37 SVN 9567 Patched.

Be sure to Rename Folder to Caveman2Cosmos before using. Remove old v37 version from BtS\Mods folder, and paste in this new version. Do Not overwrite. Probably wise to clear the cache folder as well.

Many changes since previous patch.

If you use this would love some feedback about it in the New Game Speed thread. Starting to tighten up the Gold Balance among other things.

EDIT: Link to SVN 9567 Patched has been Removed

Quicky, I found a little UI problem (but game remains fully playable).
Accents are lost. Previous v37 was ok, but here it's not possible to see é-è-à-ê-â-à
(see attached screenshot file)

Outbreaks and Afflictions is in very early stage.
Also no translations are complete

Hi, i get a bigger problem in the mod.
There is not anymore icons for "automated hunt" (patrol and kill enemy).
See attached screenshot 1.
Also, I remember BUG options was more than 5 panels, but I get only 5 here (screenshot2)

I go in game files in Civ4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos\UserSettings
and looked at this file : AutomatedSettings.ini
Inside I can see : HideAutomateHunt = False
So it look options are goods (but I dont remember to saw this options in the bug option screen).

You will need to clear the cache folder. Old v37 stored data is corrupting your screens among other things as well.

If you have Win 10 64 bit OS the cache folder is found here: C:\Users\"Username"\AppData\Local\My Games\Beyond the Sword\cache . Delete the cache folder contents and start a New game.

You will also, at New game start, need to go into BUG and reset your choices there. We have found that you will need to save the turn you reselect your BUG choices. And then immediately save it again. This will "lock" in your selections. The game will ask if you want to Overwrite the save. You need to click the OK button and let it do it's thing.

Hi, as I already cleared the cache folder after installation, I suppose I need to do the BUG reset for solving this issue. I try !

EDIT : It didnt work but after reset I ve done another thing :
I clicked on the "create a group" button (last one) of the unit, and after that, the option become available.
It's a little weird because my units were not packed.

Anyway, I don't understand why BUG show only 5 panels instead of the whole mod.

It maybe because you are playing in French and not English. This has happened before but I can not remember the exact fix for it.

I tried to reload game in english but it did nothing. But it
doesnt matter, all look ok now. I will look further some thread here about the BUG.
Thanks !!

EDIT: ARRRRRG!!!!!
I get a new problem : as game was working perfectly, and I didnt tweak BUG options anymore, the game removed resource icons of animals (horses, etc), and some fruits also, but I still can see vines or some others resources like that.
The only thing I remember to change is to put the game full screen with high detail terrain (standard options of the game). I can't remember if the bug came just after that...

In Caveman2Cosmos.ini I found this :
; Read Game options from XML, not .ini
ForceGameOptions = 0

So I will try to define options in XML and put ForceGameOptions = 1 !
In Civ4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos\Assets\Config
I see a lot of BUG xml files.
EDIT : there is too much files and I'm not able to do that correctly, as I don't fully understand what I do, I won't choose this solution. Too risky.

EDIT : Before to load a save, I changed options, and put it back in english, and remove full screen and detail.
After that, I can see the full BUG screen (with all panels). I'm on the way to play full english, it look it help to avoid some problems.

EDIT : finaly after that, i saved 2 times the game, shut it, reload, and then... Resources are back !
