A couple days late. Zhanjiang is not that far from here (relatively speaking) but unfortunately I don't have the time to go and take a look myself. :(

Blue Ridge of US 7th Fleet makes first visit to Zhanjiang

Blue Ridge of the Seventh Fleet of the United States, led by Capt. J. Stephen Maynard, arrived at Zhanjiang port in South China's Guangdong Province, on the afternoon of March 28, kicking off its three-day goodwill visit to the South China Sea Fleet of China's navy.

Escorting Blue Ridge, China's missile destroyer "Shenzhen" received and guided Blue Ridge and completed the marine ceremony. South China Sea Fleet held a welcome ceremony at the wharf.

During their trip, the 800 US officers and soldiers will visit China's self-developed missile destroyers and frigates and go sight-seeing in Zhanjiang city. Chinese and US troops will make joint musical performance and have recreational activities such as basketball games and tugs-of-war.

I hope this does not boil down to an American involvement into this war once China want Tawian as part of the Chinese Mainland.

IMO, It was much more safer when we were an isolationist country during the 1930s when the Spanish Civil War happened.

There is no war currently. CivGeneral, you should get out more often.

ive been keeping an eye on the chinese navy, and i gotta say, its coming together nicely

There's nothing sinister about this event! I posted this to show that not all is doom and gloom in this world!

I agree - There will be no wars between the giants.

.....

This is a step in the right direction.

while I mean no ill will towards china, if a war dose srping out over taiwan, i woudl hope that we support taiwan; tis always better to support a fellow democracy. (nit pickers wil say the US isnt a true democracy, my pre-curors repsonse is to get overselves and your pitful game of semantics, and acknowledge the modern definition fo the word, in which a real world "democaracy" is a republic)

Wasnt there an embargo between USA and China?

They are mainly spys. Checking Chinese Navy in case of what might happen.
Finally they'll get caught and afterwards China will take the ship.
And this means weapons embargo ???
