Chicago all teh way!!!!!

No really. Chicago deserves it. South America/Africa can have it in 2020.

It's interesting that Chicago is the only city to ever have an Olympics taken away from it, back in 1904. But this time, it's ours.

And Whomp, I just may take you up on that offer!

Chicago! Do the midwest proud, windy city! Distant second choice would be Rio. Either way, New World FTW! :D

Vive Chicago!!!!!!! Chicago has deserved the Olympics for longer than just about any other city without recognition, it really is about time. And besides, Chicago is definately going to get it what with O'Hare's expansion on top of everything else. Even though I probably won't be living here then, I am definatley coming back to the city for this.

This sounds expensive. I hope the Fed pays for it all.

Prague would be interesting, but I think Chicago is the best choice of the candidate cities.

Chicago.

The '08 Games will be in Asia, and the '12 Games will be in Europe, so the '16 Games should be in the Americas (or Africa, but I'm not aware of a city that could host them at this point in time).

Yah, but they also factor in the winter games. '10 will be in Vancouver/Whistler,
and the '14 games will be in either Austria, South Korea or Russia.

Well, Madrid is really on the rise. The Madrid area is projected to grow to about 7-8 million people in the coming several decades. To support this growth, I believe it now has the most extensive metro system in Europe along with a host of other excellent infrastructure.

Of course, they will probably give it to some boring American city, because stupid London got the Olympics for 2012, for which apparantly no one in the UK seems to care.

But to be fair, I think Chicago is a better choice than LA. It seems like it would be more pleasant in summer, and have better air quality for the athletes. This problem will really become apparant after the Beijing games... unless of course the Chinese government orders all people to do anything polluting in the Beijing area for a month before the games.

Being realistic, I think It should go to Tokyo. (Or Rio de Janeiro)

Madrid is unlikely, since London is holding the Olympics on 2012, and they should rotate continents. Los Angeles and Atlanta are too close in time to grant another olympic games to the USA.

Say what!?!?!?!!

Canada is holding another winter olympics? That is simply not fair. I want them to be celebrated in Jaca.

Who cares about winter olymbic games, anyway?

Another Winter Olympics? We've only had one, and that was in 1988.

For one thing, Canadians care about the Winter Olympics. And there are plenty of other countries that care about it. In fact, I prefer the Winter Olympics.

We have only had 1 previously, and we totally kicked arse hosting it. Not to mention all of Europe's ski hills no longer have snow...

Anyway, that is not necessarily the final list of cities that may bid. Buenos Aires, a South African city, and possibly even Toronto could still bid. Toronto would be hampered by the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, but has the advanatage of being Canadian (we are better), and by having lots of non-Canadians (42% of the city of over 5 million was born outside of Canada).

Problems with Toronto:

1 - It has bid several times, without success.

2 - It's Toronto

3 - We suck at the summer games, and really suck at hosting them.
