I was browsing the Paradox Entertainment Forums (which uses vBulletin) when I noticed this announcement:

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/announcement.php?f=122

Scroll down to the bottom of the main forum (and any forum I think) and you will see they are using a test version of version 3! So, when do we get this?

hmm... Is it out, or is that just a version of the current one?

TF said that he was going to install the test version of 3.0 in one of the many 3.0 topics. I dunno about here, in these forums. I think that it would be far better to wait until the full released version comes out.

Also, it may be a beta forum - a tech support guy said that they'd do a beta trial before releasing it. This could be one of the forums that is testing out the bugs.

I've seen the vBulletin forum running the beta version of 3.0 for months now, and I don't know if the full release is going to come out in this century or not. ;)

Then I whole-heartly support staying in this version.

They released a "Gamma" version of vB 3.0 recently. It looks pretty good and has lots of built in features, even though a few people said it seems to be slower than previous versions.

My guess is we should be running vB 3.0 by the end of January...

It's about time... We've been waiting how long?

More than year. I remember asking about something...back in December 2002 about adding some vBulletin.org hacks. TF said that they would be in the vB 3.0 release. Now it's December 2003, and it's still not out...

"Gamma" is the third letter in the Greek alphabet (IIRC). So after you have an "Alpha" release, for bug-testing, you have a "Beta" release, which is often a public bug-test. Normally, the next step is the "Release" version, but apparantly there was still enough *wrong* with VB3 that they decided to go for another round of bug-testing, ergo: "Gamma".
