Version 2.7 bug reports and feedback

:lol:So true! They sit inside their fortified compound telling everyone that there cars are going to destory earth.;)

Well, it looks like they got the UN Wonder accurate.

"Vote to adopt Green?
Yes
No
Never (Defy Resolution (and keep the Production bonus of Regulated so it doesn't take ten turns to build a modern infantry unit))"

Well, you can tell how I voted there.

The Royal Tournament has a requirement for a stable. If I build a Knight's Stable, this eliminates the stable and I can't build the Royal Tournament in that city. Is this a bug?

This has been changed in 2.8 so that the Royal Tournament needs a Knight's Stable.

Bakery requires granary in 2.71.
In case your already have got a modern granary, you cannot build the bakery any more.
Kind of annoying in case of having conquered an enemy city or having got it destroyed by enemy spies.

I hate slow internet connections ...

Hello everybody. Just installed ROM 2.7 and tried to start my first game. While the screen tells me to press "CTRL-ALT-O for BUG Mods" nothing happens when I do so. No option screen, no error, nothing.

I run BTS 3.19 under Windows XP SP3. OS and CIV language are both English, keyboard is German.

Any ideas?

If I recall correctly RoM 2.7 was for the 3.17 Official patch.

RoM 2.71 was for the 3.19 OP. AS is RoM 2.8Beta.

Nope, not quite right. 2.7, 2.71 and 2.8beta are for 3.19. If you recall, 2.7 was rushed because the 3.19 patch broke compatibility. The last version that worked with 3.1 was 2.7beta2.

Hello everybody. Just installed ROM 2.7 and tried to start my first game. While the screen tells me to press "CTRL-ALT-O for BUG Mods" nothing happens when I do so. No option screen, no error, nothing.

I solved my own problem. I have TuneUp Utilities "Memory Optimizer" installed. This tool clears up some physical memory and removes memory fragmentation in low memory situations.

It uses "CTRL-ALT-O" as the shortcut for "manual memory optimization" :wallbash:

Obviously, in a contest between BUG and TuneUP for intercepting "CTRL-ALT-O", TuneUp wins. I set TuneUp to another key combination and now everything works. :high5:

i for one always doubted programs that managed anything... i prefer the google IT method -- looking up specific solutions within the IT industry and applying fixes as needed. just me, there is always a negative in some of these positive enhancer programs imho. :scan:

I agree. Usually, they turn off services, services which I want on, like Wifi, or my music in the background. I can run my computer fine, TYVM.

That very much depends on the utility and how you run it. I have TuneUp on manual / ask first mode for everything and I have run a very stable Windows system for years. I just forgot about the keyboard shortcut for "memory optimization" - since upgrading my system to 4 GB RAM, I rarely run into low memory situations anymore.

my whole IT career was launched basically as a result of playing with highmem and all the original DOS game requirements c. 1990. i remember shi^ting bricks as i put that extra 16Mb SIMM stick in or was it 64Mb or something weak like that... oh, i also remember when the CD was going to make the HDD obsolete... and watching CGA go EGA go VGA.

now? absolutely the same damn thing, just a different smell to the stink. almost 20 years and a lot is the same. games push the envelope, we adapt and learn. :p

odd thing, i had tweaked the ini to try to get the game more stable, one of those afternoons i spent hours and hours on this site looking for advice.

well the ini change cause an immediate first turn OOS every time, so i reinstalled the game because i had failed to backup the original ini before tweaking it.

after that reinstall of the game we are getting OOS errors more than ever. we never got them, instead we would get CTDs in late games around gunpowder...

i wonder why now its all OOS stuff? is 2.8 the first version with an OOS logger? can anyone tell me where to look for a 2.71 OOS error log?

and we first thought the OOS was because of humans being on the same team and now found this has no relevance to the OOS frequency.

I never did figure out the OOS logger, but one thing that might help is to be sure that all of you have exactly the same installation. When we change anything about our version of the MOD, either we all get together and change small things exactly alike, or it is uploaded by the member that did the changes and downloaded by the rest of us. Since we started doing that, I think our OOS situation is improved.

its funny after our exchanges, its like a curse, and now we are in OOS hell...

i might suggest this, maybe i installed an off version or something...

If you use 7zip you can get a whole install of modded RoM in around 400 mbs, which you can split into a couple of files and upload somewhere.

This may be a minor concern but when playing, I always prefer Barter (not too big on oppressing constant slave revolts, or Research penalty). But once I switch to Mercantile, the Food, Production, and Commerce bonuses are obviously dropped from 35% to 15%, and I feel it, with shrinking populations.

Since there are no Renaissance Era techs to increase food output, I often compromise by building farms over so much just to keep from starving, so I wondered, could the Mercantile civic bonuses for F, P, C be increased to at least 20%?

Running Senate would help with that.

Gotta go with "nah" here because the Commerce bonus for Barter isn't a bonus at all - you get that food and production by eating a -50% commerce penalty, if 2.7 is at all like 2.8 (and if it's not, maybe you should prepare for the change? :crazyeye:) Wheras Mercantile actually gets a commerce bonus.
