Virtues, what was the issue?

@ DefiantMars - Do you remember where the Level 12 Purity bonus was shown? I've been trying to keep track of everything that's been revealed about how the Affinities will work in Rising Tide to figure out what would make it into a so-called 'Wishlist affinity mod", but I don't recall having seen that bonus. Just want to know if there is anything else from that video I might be missing.

2, 5, and 7 are definitively on the September 3rd Livestream, others have been assembled from older footage. I don't remember where 12 was from. I think Quill18 might have moused over it in his NSA let's play or it might have been BAStartGaming during his Al Falah... I'm not sure which.

If not check Writing Bull's (painfully slow) let's play.

Sounds like a really boring version of my Affinity-Mod! :p

are victory conditions still tied to affinity score? or did they remove it from the tooltip for the demo? perhaps its all a part of a long quest. I hope its the quest :)

That's a good question actually. Looking at that Quill18 video where is mousing over some of those affinity levels, there isn't another dot beyond the level 12 dot, so....

the devs did say the victories would be accessible to the hybrids, what they didn't say was how, is this the question we should be asking? I think so. ;)

@ DefiantMars - Thanks for the heads up. Combed back through the video and got the perks not only for Purity 12, but Purity/Harmony 8 and 10 (Damaged units automatically heal at least 3 HP a turn, and +25% production towards military units, respectively)

Yes. SupremacyKing2 posted a finished list over in another thread (Hybrid Affinity Synergies)

The livestream today revealed the last missing bonuses.

Here is the complete list:

Harmony
  • 2: Trade Routes can be made through miasma.
  • 5: Each improved Xenomass provides two more resources than normal.
  • 8: Units take no damage from Miasma
  • 12: +1 science from Biowell improvements

Harmony/Purity
  • 2: +1 Culture per level of Harmony or Purity
  • 5: Unhealth from number of cities reduced by 25%
  • 8: damaged units heal at least 3 HP per turn
  • 10: +25% Production towards Military Units

Purity
  • 2: +20% Strength and Ranged Strength when attacking or defending against Aliens.
  • 5: +1 energy and +1 culture from floatstone
  • 8: +2 energy and +1 health from terrascapes
  • 12: +1 Food from Dome Improvements

Purity/Supremacy
  • 2: +2 Energy per level of Purity or Supremacy
  • 5: Unhealth from global size of Population reduced by 25%
  • 8: +10% energy for cities with a defending military unit on its tile
  • 10: +10% production and +10% culture for cities in range of a friendly orbital unit

Supremacy
  • 2: Explorer Units can build an additional Expedition
  • 5: Orbital Coverage on and next to any tile with Firaxite
  • 8: -25% maintenance to units
  • 12: +1 production to nodes

Supremacy/Harmony
  • 2: +1 Science per level of Supremacy or Harmony
  • 5: + 5 Health
  • 8: +10% Growth in all Cities
  • 10: +0.4 Health for every Military Unit under your command

It seems like pure Affinities would suffer in that system with hybrids seemingly having access to their own tree and that of their parent affinities while they cut off at 12.

I think your Affinity Trait system would be greatly preferable by forcing players to choose between bonuses, which makes me hope that new traits can be modded in.

the level 5 bonuses of the hybrids are all health but the P/S one is clearly the best,

also how will this balance out to someone who isn't going hybrid? is everyone just supposed to go hybrid to get the best bonuses possible? what do the Hybrids not have going for them in comparison to the pure affinities? it just seems like you will be disadvantaged if you don't want to have such a Heretical society when clearly the only true path is the path of the Machine.

Fixed that for you.

I agree that, as-is, it looks like a major balance problem.

Here's hoping that the health bonuses from diplomacy and virtues (beyond just prosperity) and the like are enough that grabbing the Hybrids aren't strictly necessary. As for Harmony/Supremacy being the best, well, shouldn't it be? :D

The level 2 hybrid bonuses all say "or" in them. I suspect this means you take the highest of the two. So Pure affinities that get level 2 off affinity will get a larger bonus there than hybrids.

Personally in most of my own vanilla games I get levels in side affinities since I tend to pick up a few techs that are high value but off affinity like the Solar Collectors or I deliberately get the levels because of a low affinity perk I want like free roads or the gene garden. With the free affinity points on the main techs in RT getting a couple levels in side affinities will be even easier and probably even a foregone conclusion.

I don't think I've ever played a game when I haven't been 'hybrid' to some extent and honestly can't recall a game where I have been pure, even when going Purity :D. Some of the affinity perks are just too good to miss out on or I want the bonus the tech gives my Biowells/Farms etc. Stealing Techs via Espionage also gives me 'unwanted' affinity levels so it's not unusual for me to have a very high levels of my primary affinity and a farily high level of a secondary affinity

As I see it, RT's new Hybrid affinities will simply reward me for having high levels of two affinities whereas they didn't in the past.

BTW, in my last few games, I've pushed down the Might tree to get the bonus to affinity points earned and so get quite high levels of all three by the late mid-game.
